As a Turk who has been living in London for 3 years, I can say that the video explained the pros and cons of Turkey almost perfectly. It could even be said you were merciful about dislikes. Although the Turks are polite and respectful to tourists, they don't treat their citizens in the same way. Pollution can be seen in the same frame. While people keep their homes perfectly clean (maybe the best in the world), they leave the streets and nature littered with rubbish. It's nothing but selfishness and disrespect for others.

@@aroldomarcospereiraprimo6156 this is personel thing (not general). Btw We dont know what happend about them. Also, why would a man or woman allow their child to be taken to another continent? Also, the person you are talking about may be a bad person, but this does not concern the country. Similarly, there are a lot of bad people in Brazil, but this is not a general statement. I hope you can now look at it from a more general perspective. I have a lot of Brazilian friends that live both in Turkiye (Turkey ) and Brazil.

Tomorrow will be my first anniversary in Turkey! I went here so many times as a tourist, but a year ago I decided to move to Side. I agree with every single word, and i also believe that the positives still outweigh the negatives. The more i live here, the more i fall in love with the country and the people!❤ I truly hope that at least some of the problems will be solved in the near future...

Some tips;
1- Be careful with taxis, use the "bitaksi" application.
2- Use long buses, small minibuses are not good in big cities.
3- If you enter a shop for the first time, be sure of the price when purchasing a product.
4- If you encounter a bad incident, take audio and video recordings. Just call the police and they will definitely help you if you are right.
5- There are bad people in every country. But good people are in the vast majority in Turkey. Turks like to help. For this reason, if you ask someone for help, they will definitely do it.
And you can tell “I’m Tourist” Tourist is important for Turkish People, we are tourism country, you should tell it if you need.
That's terrible advice. You should avoid mentioning you are a tourist, if you don't want to get ripped off and be safe.
I guess he is living there. You can understand that from his perfect Turkish. So he is local not a tourist
I think they'll be okay with average person when they say they're tourist@@turc9808
It's TRUE, I told the people at a bus station I was from Canada and spoke no Turkish and they all helped me. Sat me down next to the Chai stand and let me know when my bus came. An elderly taxi driver in Bolu was so amazed I was there he kissed both my cheeks and hugged me. People were so helpful and loving.
However, I also recall the few cheaters, and they were in the small minority. Not enough to change my mind against Turkish people.
Your dislikes are a 100 % true. Smoking everywhere, careless drivers, loud music, rubbish and street animals. They all are big problems and should be dealth with... asap.
aynen ayennnnn
Street animals are not a problem. They are just homeless and the turkish people are very kind taking care of them. These animals are not dangerous and don't bother anybody

Hi Mick and Trudie, thanks for this video, I like it a lot. As an English language teacher, I suggested my students watch it and write a comment. I'm sure, they will enjoy watching this video.
Great idea 🤠
Hi teacher, Mick and Trudie. 😊 I watched this video and agree with the things that you likes and dislikes. Additionally, I want to mention something I dislike. Firstly, I hate smoking, especially at bus stops and on the pavement. Secondly, although Turkish people usually use public transportation, their behavior is so disrespectful in queues. Thirdly, I agree with you about music. When I enter a shop and the music is too loud, I leave without buying anything. Speaking of my loved ones, I love street cats. In my view, they all represent our country. Despite some negativity in what I say, I love my country. Consequently, I wish a humane and quality life for all people.
First of all, I found the topics in your video very descriptive. We are aware that we have problems in consuming cigarettes. As the ruling party, very successful moves are being made in the fight against smoking. Also, in your video, you could have touched on the religious views of people in Turkey and the problem of refugee influx.
Hello my elders: Mick and Trudie. I agree with your opinion about our sense of humor. Of course we are the best country in the world in this topic. In fact, we are the best at everything. No need to be modest. I have one suggestion for you. I recommend you to visit Gebze Technical University, the best university in our country. When you come, you will realize that we are good at everything...
Hello teacher, Mick and Trudie. I also watch the video and I love it so much. Thank you for taking it. With this video, I again remember and proud of my country because of its beauties and advantages. Furthermore, I totally agree with your dislikes. We are really suffered from smoking, music and the economic problems. However, I love my country. In addition, I went to Muğla last year, and I loved it. It was a great experience and I think it is one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey. Enjoy your life in Fethiye and stay well. ☺️🌷
I think Turkey's problem is education. If they could improve the level of education a little more, Türkiye would be a much different place. I've been there many times. People are very nice, very helpful, very friendly. The agenda in Turkey is changing incredibly fast. It is really a very active country. They are a very emotional nation. They are very energetic (or maybe it just seemed that way to me because I am an extremely calm person 😊). They are very proud of their history. They love their country very much. The city I was in was one of the most developed cities in Turkey. Kocaeli. Many of the problems described here did not exist. But as you go down to the south of Turkey, you start to experience what is described. Türkiye is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. For now, my dream is to move to Turkey when I retire. Let's see what time will tell 🙂
You are right with the education. But the government wants to keep the people damn. It’s done on purpose.
I have a dream to move there now when I am retired.

I live in a small village across the river from Dalyan where my wife and I built a village style house years go. Recently they added ferry service across the river from Dalyan which has increased traffic flow through the village. A small harbor in the village now attracts outsiders/tourists that cross the river to have 'Instagram" moments at this idyllic spot. Every morning I walk from the house on the road that leads to the harbor and the volume of rubbish has increased substantially. I can identify the rubbish as being that of these visitors from the fact it consists of water bottles/beer bottles/cans, snack wrappers and plastic bags from the market. It is not household rubbish containing coffee grounds/egg shells and the like. It is obvious that it the exact trash created while in a car on vacation. This makes me insanely angry when one considers the incredible beauty of this little paradise. Only subhumans could dump all this rubbish here and drive away and leave all over the ground. I do beleive if I ever witness one of these pigs in the act of this behavior i will completely lose it and smash out their headlights/talilights and windows. It is such incredible ignorant behavior. Every day I take plastic bags on my walk and fill several. Things seemed to get better for a while but now the same old swine behavior is back. Other than that I love this country and it's people.
100% agree. Thank you for expressing my feelings...
I wish I could help you with it..!

I'm Turkish and I agree with everything. I just want to say you're lovely people both of of you, I wish you a constant peace and happiness in Turkey.
Spot on. I've lived in Istanbul for 26 years. I'm amazed at how little crime there is when compared with so many other countries - not speaking of anything large and organised of course, but just at a daily level.
The worst here if you're a driver is the horrendous traffic and the excellent, cheap and very frequent public transport is completely packed, Japanese style at rush hours.
The image of Turkey amongst so many is a travesty and I for one, work with many Armenians here. That's not supposed by many to be possible! But I've never evidenced any fuss at all. People are far more tolerant and respectful of others than in many places I know.
That’s awesome guys Thank you so much and greetings from USA!

Living in a small village, in Ortaca, the only loud music we get is from weddings. We often go to the beaches, in Sarigerme, and Dalaman, and they are clean, and no music. Also they're cheap, compared to other resorts, possibly because they're run by the council, (Belediye). One place I would reccomend visiting, is the kukurt near Dalaman airport. It's beautiful, clear waters, and mud that makes your skin smooth. It has disabled access to the cafe, and toilets, and costs 10tl 30p, entrance. In the main I agree with your comments, although in our area, I've never heard about anyone being attacked by dogs, and nobody smokes inside restaurants, they sit outdoors if they want a cigarette.
Your points are all correct

So true. Our inaction against these problems, especially the street dogs is unbelievable.
Loved the video Mick & Trudie, we too have lived here a long time and consider Turkey as our home, it’s so beautiful and friendly. One of our dislikes is the ‘multi-tier pricing system’ they have here. It happens in a great many establishments depending on where you are and who you are, things will be priced either higher or lower. I personally don’t think it’s fair that certain establishments should exploit people in this way.
Well said, so true

I just returned from a couple weeks in Turkey and I would mention the inflated prices were higher than we thought. The Turkey tax was sure noticeable when travelling solo vs with a guide at restaurants and cafes in. We walked out of multiple restaurants for not posting prices even in menus to discover asking $25usd for a drink. I was lucky enough to know this trick, but imagine many others don't.
i visit turkey alot, one thing i really dislike is the taxis, they refuse to put a meter on unless my husband is with me, they make up prices. we have spend alot of time in istanbul over the last 18 months and im so impressed with how well public transport runs and how cheap so i do try avoid taxi when i can.

I've been fortunate enough to have visited Turkey a few times. I agree about the litter. My partner and I did a trip to Girdev plateau (stunning) but, even as far up as it was, the amount of plastic bottles and general waste up there was unreal. Don't forget the Beliyedesiye cafes, they are so cheap and really sociable places, with areas for all the family together, we love the things provided in the community in Türkiye.
Well covered. All the points are absolutely valid. For a new comer though language is a huge barrier especially outside of the main cities or even in cities like Istanbul
Great content and true comments. I felt happy that such a nice couple like you come to Turkiye very often
Thanks for your honest observation and sharing on youtube to everyone.
The music is a big problem.
Deniz Incisi is a nice beach restaurant which I know you will know. What could be a really relaxing nice place to spend an afternoon is wrecked by thumping music. In the end it drove us out.
My brother went to a nice hotel in Marmaris with his family for their summer holiday. This was spoilt by permanent load music. When you ask to turn it down a bit, sometimes they do a little, but soon it's back to full blast. He will not go back.
It's ironic that they put the music on to draw people in and make them have a good time , but it's actually doing the reverse. It's strange because the Turks are normally so helpful and accomodating. They must get a lot of complaints from foreigners, but it doesn't compute.
İ''m Mel hi sorry you didnt like the musics at bars exc.but the thing is Turks loves music just like spanish ppl,Turks likes loud music too 😎
@@fatmaergun6141
I think it is a different culture. In England we love loud music too, but we go to places specifically for the music. Like places to dance or bars where there are live acts. I love the traditional Turkish music and will go to venues especially for that, but we don't want loud music when you are relaxing by the beach with the family or in a hotel by the pool.
As a Turk who has been living in America for about 6 years, I found your video excellent. I agree with all your observations and thank you for making your criticisms in a very sweet and kind language. As a Turk, I may not be able to criticize more and be as kind as you.. :) Until about 15-20 years ago, the people and administrators of our country were much more educated, equipped and cultured, even though political and economic crises were experienced from time to time.. If we look from the past to the today, we have very little wealth, culture and values left. We are about to lose them too. We are going through very difficult times as a country. The majority of our people have taken refuge in cigarettes due to stress, and they have to buy them no matter how much the price increases. Cigarettes act as a kind of antidepressant. All our qualified, cultured, educated and enlightened young people went abroad as a workforce/brain drain because they were not left with a livable future. I wish the best for our country and also I wish you safe, peaceful days in cities that almost 60% of our citizens have never seen, have not been able to go on holiday with their families, and may never go to. Thank you for representing our country better than the Ministry of Culture and Tourism..

Thank u Sir.God bless Hello to from Vancouver Canada .Merry christmas ,happy holidays.
Very very good summary Mick and Trudie, thank you for your video. I can make empathy with all your points. Wishing you both happy times.
Oh my, how accurate you are. I have to say more about the drivers! I ride a big motorbike, and yet, if I was not on my metal, I would definitely be dead. Tailgating me about 5ft from my bike, pushing past with inches to spare in the fast lane to take up the space that you had for braking. Pulling out from a junction in front of you and stopping because the traffic is coming the other way. If you come here and hire a car, forget all you know about good manners and driving respectfully. You will get shouted at to get out of the way. They use their horns like they breathe.
Your best option is to drive like them or suffer an accident. You have been warned!!
As always great honest information from you guys, we’ve just had our first visit to calis beach area really enjoyed it but totally agree with your likes and dislikes, keep up the great videos etc 👍👍😘
Hi Mick and Trudy, hope this finds you well, im a Turk living in Australia and i agree with you whole heartedly, everything you said was spot on and more, my heart breaks every time we travel back and see it all in person as its such a shame because it truly is a beautiful country
Perfect comments, agreed with all. Best regards for both of you!
Your love for our country is evident as day. I am glad good people like you are among us.
From my point of view and as a Turk, i believe that our major problem is that we are disrespectful towards our own citizens, even to ourselves. This disrespectful behaviors cause people unfollowing the traffic rules, increasing pollution and so much more. People in here have to learn to respect at first towards themselves, then to the others.
couldn't have described my own country better, thanks for everything!
Harika bir video olmuş. Ülkemizi en doğru şekilde tanıtmışsınız. Beğenilmeyen kısımlar hepimizin malumu. Umarım zamanla düzelir. Sevgiler! ❤❤
