howl.me/cldm3fJfpRJ - Retinoid: Adapalene 0.1% Gel (Available in the US only).
Topical Retinoids are a game-changer when it comes to pimples or acne treatment. They help decrease pore obstruction, decrease inflammation and decrease oil production while increasing skin cell turnover which helps prevent new acne bumps.
Don't waste your money on any retinoid. You should go for Adapalene 0.1% which is a topical Retinoid that’s FDA approved for acne treatment and available to buy over the counter if you’re watching in the US. Anywhere else in the world its prescription only, so speak to your healthcare professional.
Please remember Adapalene and all retinoids are not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have sensitive skin you should apply a very little amount of the Adapalene 2-3 times a week and gradually increase usage until you build tolerance for daily use as it can cause dryness when you begin. Always read the information leaflet before using any medication and speak to your healthcare professional.

I saw my dermatologist when I was 15 or 16, and I used to get cystic acne breakouts. My face was pretty red and sensitive. My dermatologist would drain my cysts and they just kept coming back. She recommended I try Accutane and it dried my face and lips out. It caused my cystic acne to get puss filled and after my skin had time to get used to it, I started clearing up. I would always be shy and cover my breakouts with my hands and foundation. My face was super sensitive as it needed time to heal up. I'd say by the 6th month, my face had healed. I always thought I would have crater scars from my cystic acne but I never did, thankfully! I would recommend Accutane to anyone dealing with severe and uncontrollable breakouts. It completely changed my high school years. I never had any cystic acne since I took Accutane. It's life changing.

I literally owe my life to this treatment. I was super depressed and hade an extreme lack of self confidence due to many factors but mostly my acne that I dealt with for years. Suicidal thoughts every night type shit. Lied to my doctor when she asked if I had depression (cos apparently they think isotretinoin causes depression) so I could take this stuff and within a year my skin was clear (still some scarring but fuck it still way better than what I was dealing with before). I don’t like thinking about what-ifs but I do have a feeling I wouldn’t be here today anymore if I didn’t finally take it when I did. So if anyone is on the fence about it, do it. There is nothing more important in life than your looks and self confidence.

I ate isotretinoin during 10 months. And now, about 1,5 years later, I’ve started to get breakouts once again. And this freaking affects me badly. I’ve never felt worse both physically and psychologically, but I pushed through 10 months of not only dryness over every centimeter of my body, but I couldn’t exercise because my muscles and joints were unimaginably fragile, I couldn’t drink with my friends for the entire process and the need to always keep the pills and moisturizers with me wherever I went was such a stress factor on me. I lived through hell for almost a year, the dryness in my face and eyes have stayed with me ever since, I’ve also started to shed a lot of hair since I stopped, now I’m starting to believe those are permanent side-effects.
And even though I went through with all of this, and still am going through.. WHY me.. WHAT have I done to deserve this?! Acne doesn’t even run in my family.

To all who are too afraid for side effects to start accutane: I'm on roaccutane week 5 and honestly so far the best choice I made. I was prepared for the worst, but somehow my skin, which has been suffering from acne for 7 years (cystic, blackheads, oily skin), already started to improve after two weeks. I am very lucky I did not experience a purge (not yet atleast). After 4 weeks I don't have any cystic acne anymore but only get the usual smalls pimples. I did take doxycycline before, but this did not really improve my skin. Now I have soft skin, my blackheads start to disappear, no new cyctic pimples (I used to get one every day) but a lot of scarring left. Only side effect I have noticed so far is dry lips. I have a lot of months left to reach accumulative dosis but I am sure it will be more than worth it afterwards. So, my advice is to just try it out! I was always afraid to take it but my skin has not looked as good as it does today in years. Also, use aquaphor and rosehip oil by the ordinary to prevent dryness!

For the first two weeks I was put on 40mg of isotretinoin, my hips would pretty much freeze up once I would lay down and try to sleep. It would be extremely painful to move even the slightest bit, and in order to get moving again, I would have to force myself through the extreme pain to a point where my hip joints would literally *POP!* I endured this for 2-3 days before calling my dermatologist, he told me to stop taking it. My hips slowly went back to normal after about a week and a half from when I stopped taking the isotretinoin. Took a whole month off before going back to see him, he tried putting me on some antibiotic which didn't work. So a month of that and I asked to be put back on isotretinoin but at a lower dose, he put me on 10mg a day, then month after that 20mg (10mg 2x a day), then to 30mg after that (10mg 3x a day), everything was good so far, until recently I developed palpitations!!!! So at the moment my cardiologist asked me to ask my dermatologist if I could take a month off to see if the palpitations stop. Scary stuff, I hope it stops it.

PLEASE don't take accutane!!!!( I took only 20 mg but even low dose was bad)
I am very grateful I became aware early of the side effects in my second round of accutane which was 1 year after the first round. In the first round I took accutane for 5 months on low dose for mild/ moderate acne. It drys your body organs and has caused me mild Fatty Liver Disease(which I caught on early), irregular periods, a fibroadenoma which I have mistaken for malignancy and caused huge pain and anxiety for months.
Alternative: Get an estrogen test and your doctor will prescribe supplements to balance your hormone levels, which in turn will clear up your face even better than accutane. I WISH I had known all of this earlier😭

I'm 26 and only started getting severe acne when I turned 19. I'm 4 weeks into my dose and I already can feel and notice a difference and it's amazing. I've got pretty chapped lips right now but it pales in comparison to the benefits. I get really intense cystic acne on my face that would be unbearably painful (pulsing pain and agitation without even having to touch my face) and now it's completely gone. I began taking Accutane one month ago and will continue for a full course of six months. During the first month, I took 20mg per day, and now in the second month, I have increased my dosage to 30mg for the remainder of the course. In the first month, I experienced some dryness in my skin, mild joint pain, and a slight dryness in my mouth. However, in the second month, I have noticed that my skin is starting to look more radiant, and I have not had any more acne, except for three that disappeared quickly. Overall, choosing to take Accutane was the best decision I have made.

I dont have crazy acne all over, just around 6 on each cheek, forehead and chin which is alot I know! Pus/Whiteheads not cystic. They linger for forever and when they go I'm left with hyperpigmentation. It gets worse when I eat diary & sugar, is stressed or hormonal. Topical medication didnt seem to work, tried dermatological soaps, facial cleanser, creams, gel, spot treatment and even antibiotics, the acne never stopped coming back. I've had it with acne at 22 and needed a permanent solution that's when My dermatologist suggested accutane. Hopefully the side effects don't get too bad, I've already done all the lab test needed, bought sunscreen, oil free moisturizer, lip balm and artificial tears. Please dont. If you plan to conceive, accutane is the worst you could do. This is why it is heavily regulated and you have to be on 2 different types of birth control because it will cause defects on the fetus if you do get pregnant while on it.

I start accutane in a month and im so excited because ive strugled with acne since i was 13 (im almost 18 now). I wouldn't say my acne is horrible but its pretty bad.. and sometimes its worse, sometimes its better. Ive tried everything, from curology to proactive to dermatologist perscriptions to cetaphil etc. my skin has always been so sensitive and cant handle anything without breaking out. i tried out makeup a while ago because all my friends wear it and it just made me break out too. acne literally shatters my self confidence, and ive been working on myself so much but my acne never seems to go away and its really affecting me now. i hope accutane works for me.. im just rlly scared about the side effects but i have friends who went on accutane and it completely cleared their skin. fingers crossed :)

I wash every night with a hydration cleaner and I use a moisturizer after. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong I don’t know why it doesn’t seem to be working. I was an idiot and missed my appointment the other day so I ran out of pills and am waiting until December 9th to get them again. Praying I don’t breakout or lose any progress. Within a month, my Triglycerides went from 60 to 100mg/dL.
    LDL- from 90 to 110 mg/dL.
    HA1C- from 5.2 to 5.4%
Total cholesterol is 165 which is normal. And everything else in the blood report is ideal too!
I have a healthy lifestyle. Eat pretty clean, a lot of good fats, moderate protein, low carbs and no sugar at all. exercise 2-3 times a week.
Accutane certainly did raise those levels I mentioned above.

I hope this helps someone....I thought I would have to try Accutane but I realized that it was several things, including.... my BB Cream, no kidding, and a GF of mine was using a BB Cream too that was giving her terrible horrible acne until I told her to throw it away and it cleared up. However, it can be metabolic, certain oils my body can't metabolize, such as Olive oil or any fried foods will give me a small pimple usually, but Olive oil will give me really deep, and really terrible cystic acne, also cheap chocolate, because it has wax, and cashews, as well as certain skin products, gave me acne. Testing out foods and oils to see which gave me acne, changing my skincare products and my diet plus being extra hygienic with my pillow covers, and learning seriously to never ever evverrrr touch my face, and take regular pro-biotics cleared it all up forever for me.

I did a cycle of Accutane and it was great but unfortunately a few years later (~4) the acne did come back (not nearly as severe as pre-Accutane), but more than what I would define as the occasional pimple. The dermatologist did say that it's not uncommon (roughly 30%) of cases to need a 2nd or even 3rd treatment so I might be doing another round. The first time I didn't get many side effects at all so I hope this time around it's similar if I decide to go at it again.

    1. Uric acid 0.34mmol/l (almost exceed the normal range)
    2. Total cholesterol 5.4mmol/l

    5. Urine pH 6.0
First 2month daily consumption and starting 3rd month in alternate day. I don't really suffer severe dryness probably because with at least 1.5L water daily and prescribed face wash, moisturizer and sunscreen from dermatologist.

    2.) joint soreness
    3.) eye stye’s!!!
    4.) depression

Ayesha Sadiq you don’t think I should risk it? I’ve gotten the medication before and then never took it cuz I got scared again

iGoHam personally I took it while depressed but I was also on anti-depression medication which helped. Bottom line is, if you believe your mental state of mind is healthy and in a good place and you can handle it then take it otherwise wait because it can be a mentally and physically debilitating drug

I’m over 40 and have suffered from acne all of my life since I was a teen. I’m going to be prescribed this next month but I’m hella worried about the side effects. Is there a woman over 40 that has used this? Can you share your experience?
