I literally cancelled my Taz Pro ($5K) order right after seeing your review and got an Ultimaker S5 instead.

I just got hold of one second hand and had to repair the "zero sense" wire that was broken and a few other things. I have 21 other machines and I thought these had a decent reputation. The more I got into it, the less impressed I have become The X Carriage really should have been an aluminum milled part, the brass insert that attaches the print heads spins and spins. Rather annoying. I haven't seen a lot of guys upgrading these things to BL Touchs and newer electronics. As to your filament snap, be sure to dry your filaments and I use a dry box with spool rollers to keep the moisture out. I'm kind of amazed at their other offerings and real lack of modern upgrades. For the money they're asking for these things, you are better served with an upgraded Creality/China machine or spend a bit more and get a superb machine, like the Ultimaker S5.

im still using the taz 4 without auto level. I don't understand the difficulty in leveling your own bed. its easy just use a piece of printer paper as a feeler guage. once its set its set. I couldnt imagine having to wait for the bed to auto level on every print.. crazy.. I've upgraded my taz 4 with titan extruder and e3d v6 years ago. the only thing i wish i could change is the small amount of ringing i get because the z axis is connected to the leadscrew instead of the newer setups. I also use a magnetic removable surface that works great. People tell me my prints look manufactured especially with talman alloy 910.

We've experimented with many different positions for the spool. Best success we've had was with the spool mounted vertically above the printer

What Prusa printer did you buy to replace your TAZ 6? What are your thoughts now?

Can confirm I have a taz 6 and have had many of the same problems. One thing I want to fix is I have a loud squeaking/grinding noise when I run the vertical axis all the way up? You guys ever have that issue, and if so any fix?

@@Homesteading_engineer BTW if you don't have some already you need to get molybdenum disulphide grease for any of the machines that use lead screws its perfect for lubricating them and protect them from ware

layer lines have nothing to do with the machine... change the nozzle size. prusa and taz are the same, you have no idea what your talking about... respectfully.
