    Amazing. I was board basting my quilt and the bottom border was wavy. I used a little MistyFuse and the border is nice and smooth ready for basting. THANK YOU!

    I am a little late in finding you but this is brilliant! I have borders I am working on now that I just can't get to behave. There is some bias in the quilt blocks that I must have stretched but the overall quilt it just too pretty to scrap! Thank you so much for posting this.

    Thanks for the tips on how to ease in the extra fabric on the border. I'm curious about that black handle on the ruler since I haven't seen one like it before. Do you buy the black handle separately, drill holes in the back of the ruler and then screw the two together? Or did you buy the ruler with the handle already attached?

  • @SederQuilts
    @SederQuilts  8 лет назад +1

    Thank you, Newbeequilter, for the the excellent question about my favorite old O'Lipfa ruler with the No-Slip handle... it is reposition-able for left or right hands, too! They no longer appear to be available. But if enough people ask O'Lipfa for them....maybe they would make them again. I feature this wonderful tool in many of my other videos on Rotary Cutting with TWO Rulers... ruclips.net/video/9m9kOpusyk0/видео.html, and marking a Design Wall... Anitra Marinchek 🌸ohhhhh, I love teaching, encouraging, and inspiring others to enjoy Quilting, too! What brand of Longarm are you planning to purchase? I am impressed with Handi Quilter... they are constantly improving the technology, free updates to incorporate users suggestions, new features, and fixing reported issues. But see if you have a helpful retailer near you (of any brand) ...good hands on, in person local support is very nice!

    how well would this work on a fabric that is not so busy?

    • @SederQuilts
      @SederQuilts  3 года назад +1

      🌸It still works nicely... it looks like a seam in a pieced border ... if your quilting design stitched the folded edge down well enough, great! If not, then I top stitch or use a blind hand stitch to secure the “faux seam”. 🌸

    It's me again Paola! , another question, when you put tucks in a quilt or fix quilts with wavy borders do you tell the owner what you have done? I thought I was doing the right thing when I told my customer there was 1, yes I said 'one' tuck in her quilt she was not happy at all and she never ever came back again. Another one which was really bad I ended up putting about 6 tucks in it, I dropped it off to her as I was going past her house she didn't have any money so I said to drop it off later. Whether it was due to the tucks I don't know but it took me 18 months to get payment for that quilting. I live in a small village so I have to be careful what I say, I had reminded her nicely twice that she hadn't paid me. She even knocked on my door asking for sponsorship I felt like saying I'll sponsor you when you pay me, but I didn't I'm not like that. Anyway before I bore you any more, what do you do?
    PS thank you for all your help, I still have lots to watch of yours on utube

      Kay Marl yes, always ask first. Give options. Let them choose and decide.
      Hopefully the client mentions she had a little difficulty with the borders and you can get her blessing to tame the ruffles.
      Preferably, look at the Quilt together when they first bring it to you. I press the quilt tops before I load. Good time to inspect. Lay them on a flat surface to look for fullness. Take photos...measure. Document. Offer choices get permission.
      Always try to ease it in, rather than using a tuck.
      Try to make it as invisible as possible... use an existing seam if possible. Be creative with the density of your stitching design (quilt that fullness out of there)
      I have a couple videos that show how to embrace the fullness and be creative with the stitching choices.
      Offer double batting.
      Use soup cans.
      Starch pin press and pray.
      Some quilters refuse to work on lumpy bumpy quilts.
      Do your best work as though you were making this for your favorite person in the world
      🌸blessings upon blessings 🌸

    Why are there so many sections in that border?

    • @SederQuilts

      Excellent question! She was a newbie and used the fabric they had on hand. I love to quilt for beginners, as well as little old grannies that have made hundreds of quilts and are now in tiny apartments with no big flat surfaces... and encourage them all to enjoy their quilts! Thanks for watching!!
