What an excellent tutorial. just found it as it came up on my feed while watching another channel. The tips are the end are superb. As a new long armer I've never found anything before about the uneven extra when loading up fabric. Plus seeing you use magnets and setting up the leader grips has been so helpful. Thank you

I just found your tutorial. It came up on my feed. Can you tell me what you mean by “float my quilt “? That’s a new term for me. As you can tell, I’m a newbie.
Hi Jan!🌸 “Floating” means I don’t pin and wind up my tops onto the belly roller bar... I secure the BACK fabric to both the back bar and belly bar... But I only Baste the QuiltTop (at the top edge) to the BACK and batting... And let the rest of the QuiltTop just “float” or “waterfall” towards the belly bar (and onto the floor or into a hammock) Watch my SaturdayWithSederQuilts on LOADING ALL THREE LAYERS ... I'm having trouble finding the big magnets at my local home improvement store and I do not see them on the Harbor Freight website. Can you tell me the approximate dimensions of the magnets? I ordered the small ones from you and they work great! Thanks for sharing so many wonderful tips in your videos.
Elaine Schmidt Yeaaaay I’m glad you like the small magnets! Harbor Freight has the big magnets on sale most of the time. I use the 1x18 inch most of the time. They come in all sorts of lengths. I usually order a dozen at a time when they are on sale for around $5, or 6, or 7.00. (I think I bought my first one in a local store for over 20. ... plus if your order is big enough, you often get free shipping)
yes they are.. I am a glassblower by trade, and use them to hold small tools at my bench as well, and in my jewelry making area too.. any place you need to keep track of small tools.. and now they will go in the quilt room too.. I would never have thought of magnets in the sewing room

Sometime I will get wonky sides how do you prevent that from happening. I feel like I have trouble keeping my sides tight. When I use a side clamps it will get in the way of my ruler table. Do you have any suggestions?
Barbara Munoz, ahhh yes! There are several things that cause wonky sides. Keep watching more of my videos, I share more tricks! Stretched Leaders, Uneven Leaders, slightly Bent or Flexed Roller Bars, BULK vs LACK of BULK, Seams rolling up on top of themselves, CrossGrain is Stretchier than Length of Grain, to name a few! Search for my Saturday with SederQuilts episodes, they are a bit longer, but explain differences between several options. 😳Don’t stretch too tight... you will cause more trouble than you fix by stretching. 🤗Ease in fullness... it adds wonderful texture. 🥰Love it into place... encourage it to go where you want it, but don’t force it. 💗Thanks for watching and asking questions! I love to be helpful!🌸
Barbara Munoz 😆Silly me, I forgot to answer your last question! Use a WIDER back... give yourself more WiggleRoom! You can always use the extra fabric scraps to add to your stash🥰... OR... use a Wider Batting, and baste the edges of the quilt, AND baste the edge of the back, then clamp onto the extra wide batting! 😉The double set of basting stitches will keep the quilt smooth, any stretch will only be in the extra batting! 🤓Hope you find my Quilty Stuff helpful!🌸Tutoluu!🌸
🌸Excellent question! If you want Both of the options (to sometimes Pin the top, AND to sometimes Float the top), then you leave the Velcro and the leader on all the time... (if you take the leader off, but leave the Velcro on, the Velcro would be annoying ... in my humble opinion... so leave the leader on) (I frequently remove the whole belly bar that would be used for pinning the top, after I have loaded the back fabric.) 🤓But... If you know you prefer to Float your tops all the time, then I would suggest not even adding the Velcro to that particular bar, at all... (I prefer it to be smooth) Not all frames have the same arrangement of where the roller bars are... some frames have different options... clear view, cradles, wood or aluminum rollers, etc. 🎥Check out my video on How to Load All Three Layers. 🌸Thanks for your question! 🥰Enjoy your Quilty Stuff! 🤗Tutoluu!🌸
Michele Gnazzo The big long magnet bars are available from Harbor Freight... (or your local home improvement store) and the Small Magnets are available at SederQuilts.com 😊 Handy Dandy! 🌸Enjoy!
Debbie Moten 🌸Excellent Question! There are some options,😊 You may order directly from Regina’s Quilting Studio at LeaderGrips.com They have many options: 8’, 9’6”, 10’, 11’, 12’ (sized to fit the length of your Leaders, not your table frame); and either three roller or two roller sets. (If you float your quilt tops, you don’t use the third leader... since floating eliminates the need to load and roll the foot of the quilt top.) Regina offers shipping to both US and International locations. Or you may order from MKQuilts.com. She offers the two roller set, or to bundle Leader Grips with Zippers w/ Fabric Tabs. I love using Leader Grips! No more pins. No more poked fingers or snagged clothing. Just quick and easy loading! 🌸Thanks for watching!
Do you take the leaders off the bar that holds the top, when you’re floating
🌸Excellent question! If you want Both of the options (to sometimes Pin the top, AND to sometimes Float the top), then you leave the Velcro and the leader on all the time... (if you take the leader off, but leave the Velcro on, the Velcro would be annoying ... in my humble opinion... so leave the leader on)
(I frequently remove the whole belly bar that would be used for pinning the top, after I have loaded the back fabric.)
🤓But... If you know you prefer to Float your tops all the time, then I would suggest not even adding the Velcro to that particular bar, at all... (I prefer it to be smooth)
Not all frames have the same arrangement of where the roller bars are... some frames have different options... clear view, cradles, wood or aluminum rollers, etc.
🎥Check out my video on How to Load All Three Layers.
🌸Thanks for your question! 🥰Enjoy your Quilty Stuff! 🤗Tutoluu!🌸
My sides always sag. ☹️
🌸Hopefully my techniques will help minimize your Saggy Sides ... 🌸
Where did you get those big magnets??
Michele Gnazzo The big long magnet bars are available from Harbor Freight... (or your local home improvement store) and the Small Magnets are available at SederQuilts.com 😊 Handy Dandy! 🌸Enjoy!
SederQuilts Thanks so much!!!!!!
Michele Gnazzo 🌸you are so welcome! Your magnets are all ready to go out Priority Mail tomorrow! Thanks for your order😊Enjoy!
How do I purchase the leader grips
Debbie Moten 🌸Excellent Question! There are some options,😊
You may order directly from Regina’s Quilting Studio at LeaderGrips.com They have many options: 8’, 9’6”, 10’, 11’, 12’ (sized to fit the length of your Leaders, not your table frame); and either three roller or two roller sets.
