My 20 yr old son bought a 74 Westfalia last night. We go to pick it up today. We’re more than pumped to get started on his project. Good luck on yours!
Watching you open the top reminded me of a trip when I was very young with Mom and Dad in a 71 Sportsmobile. In a driving rain, late at night, my Dad struggled mightily trying to open the top. Later, after reading the directions, he found out that having a window or door open will allow the top to open easily. Oh, those airtight VWs! But you already knew that, didn’t you.
Great find! Don’t think I’ve ever seen one so complete with the bonus camping accessories. I’m jealous 😂 Thanks Dubs. Looking forward to seeing her running and doing camping things again. 😎
Add several herry can holders and jerry cans for fuel and water, some personal protection devices, basic hand tools, tarps, firestarter, water filtration system, food storage, and that right there would be my bug out vehicle... Keeper... ❤
Had this bus as a daily driver in Oregon for 5 years. 2005 to 2010. Went all over the Intermountain west and BC and to California and back. Same interior. Same yosemite yellow. Same motor. Got about 22mpg? I wish I had never sold it. Super fun rig. Not bad in snow.
Nice volks camper. Will check back with your progress on it. Glad to see you back. Met you last year at the police car show last fall in RI. You still have that Adam 12 Plymouth? May be going again in the fall. Have a great summer. Rev. Mark Milner C.
Hey ,,, You been to busy to share with us downunder ? .. News down here, is that you enjoyed a great summer, which occurred on June 23nd , this year .. LOL ... kind regards Alex
Sadly, this has the same flaw all buses have in that a head on collision is likely to cause severe injury including loss of legs. It is way more likely today than it was back then. Every 3rd vehicle on US roads is a pick up truck and probably more than another 3rd are SUVs, crossovers and vans. Every one of which will collide above the bumper.
The 1973 and later type 2s had a very agressive safety frame built in underneath. They made the "crumple zone" happen behind the front seats. I've seen a few over the years hit and it makes a huge difference VS earlier busses. Not saying up to modern standards, but it was a HUGE improvement, and usually safer than a bug
hello dubwerks i saw on instagram you posted a red beetle please give us alittle snippets of what's happening, i hope you did not sell the 63 bug any update on it . Thank you in advance i am watching from JAMAICA
Great looking and original Bus. Love all the accessories. Congratulations !!
Love it. I graduated from HS in 73, driving a 70 bug. I want one again so much.

That engine needs dual carburetors. Glad to see you're learning to buy less rusty vw's.

Hello. I take it. you didn't go to the meet on Governors Island this year?
It`s an easy fix up for you. I`m not a fan of the color but that`s just me.
Totally 70s colors. You might look for some bell bottoms to wear when you drive it.
Don't say that, he probably would 🤣
