You can see he's proud of his van as well he should be! Hope he makes great memories on his trip. Thanks for another unique tour!
Thank you very much Pamela
I wish we could get new Westfalias and VW vans here North America. Great rig! Great review! Bravo.
Yes me too
there is a company on Montreal, Quebec Canada called Mars 5 that makes a modern equivalent interior .. with top
top and everything..
You can get the vans here in America...even the westfalias
if you want to fit in the cult, these are buses, vanagons are vans...fyi
Gotta know where to get them
He is so happy to give a tour about is awesome bus and he told us about ever detail in bus
Thank you Patrick and Chris for giving us this tour 😄😄👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
This is awesome!!!! I like to see people .. especially younger people who love and take care of the vintage stuff .... he also seems to have a great attitude ..
I hope he has a safe and a great trip
Yes, me too
I LOVE that he kept a lot of the original 70s decor. It brings me back to my childhood!
Thank you Charlene
As a kid an aunt/uncle had a vw bus and I fell in love back then... priceless here with original upholstery and all!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Fond memories I had one of these in late 70’s. On windy days on a bridge it’s like being in a box kite
Thank you for checking in
Ayyy Joe mama
Wow. Threw me back to my youth with this one! Thanks for sharing Chris. Happy trails from Houston, Texas!
Thanks Patrick. You find the best people and their campers!
I love it!
😎✌️🤙🤘😎
Patrick good morning from Godley Texas,
Thanks for introducing us to Chris. It's amazing to see these old campers still being utilized for their intended use. Happy travels to Chris. Stay safe and 😷 up when appropriate.😉
Thank you for checking in John. Chris is heading your way
I lived in my old 1970
Vw bus for over 2 years wish I still had it but I'm now going to buy another one
Lots of memories
Go for it
My parents had one when I was a kid. I don't recall a lot but I have a picture with us by it. All seven of us at the time. Dad use to find places to have picnics and go swimming in the creeks. Hope this guy has a good trip. Thanks for the share.
Thanks for sharing!
Great van Chris, happy safe travels, can almost feel the excitement of a road trip, thanks for another great video Patrick
Thank very much Scott
I’m obsessed with volkswagen vans this so awesome!
That bus is gorgeous. I love the way he's kitted it out, even if it sounds like it was a heck of an adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it
Best wishes for a safe & completely awesome trip. My grandfather loved his VW camper but - he drove it from NJ to Alaska & back. And he & my sister drove from NJ to Acapulco. I got to go to Maine with him. Good memories!!
Very cool!
Heat in a VW bus? What a concept! I had this identical van and drove it for years back in the day. Glad to see one still running and so well loved.
Oh wow, glad you enjoyed it
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures Thanks for that and for all your interesting and informative videos.
We had a green 78 pop up. My parents took us from northern California to Santa Tomas Mexico in that thing. My best memories are in that bus
That is awesome
Awesome! Love the van and your adventurous spirit!
Thank you very much
Aww! I miss mine! same color, 1978, used to wedge my skis under the pop up. loved the windows to sleep safely not worrying if anyone could get in when they were open. Good tour, thanks
Oh wow!
All these people have friends that help. Good people.
I know, that is incredible
Love the build! The pop-top makes a big difference!
Neat old Bus, cool video. Thanks NJODA!
Thank you John
Personally I am not a fan of pop tops but I can see how cool his bus is and how pleased he is with her.
Thank you for the feedback
My dream camper, had a 1964 vw mini bus , wanted the camper.
Oh wow, thanks
Looks cool! I love the color. Very 70’s for sure.
Thank you 😊
We had a '72 that we bought new, off the lot. The top used to be hinged in the front with the luggage carrier in the back. Also, no engine access from inside with ours - what a PITA! Lack of power was not a lot of fun as well. I remember spending a lot of time with the accelerator pedal "glued" to the floor as semi trucks beared down us; then down shift, down shift... Not really designed for cold weather I believe especially with those jalousie windows... Ours also came with a gasoline heater and a free standing tent that attached to the rain gutter outside the slider which I think we still have.
oddly though, there are still tons of 72's around. 73 had the engine hatch ! My dad had a 71 back in the day....think we hit 80 twice, down hill, accelerating for a week to get there....do you remember if early buses, like 66 had the same tent ? I have a 66 camper and the M code said it had a tent...could I buy the tent for my 66 ?
Olive is amazing. Happy and safe travels!
Thank you very much
Pretty cool RV my brother actually had one of those. Used to travel all around with it.
Oh nice, sweet
These westfalia vans are very well planned out for the size. It sparked some creativity in me, and a 1969 Volkswagon transporter can also be made into a camper.
You can turn the back seat into a toilet and shower, then either build a box for the bed or put a pop up camper on top with a mattress, is what I would do. This would be awkward full time, but the addition of a shower and toilet is a game changer.
I also have a 1977 vw bus westfalia in the same color in original factory condition that’s been in my family for many years.
That’s so cool
Very cool! Wish him the greatest of luck and good times on his cross country trip.
Thank you very much
Love his camper, VW made great camper vans. He is a proud VW owner owner love it. They are classic vans. Everyone smiles and waves these vans just make you feel happy yeah they break down but doesn’t everything eventually. Everything in life requires maintenance
Thank you for the support
This is of my favorite ones I’ve seen so far. Most have that modern sheek design. This just looks like a stoners room. That’s how it should be, I really do love it.
I like the way he proves that things work in the vehicle, he knows before hand that he needs to exert max force to get things opening/turning etc., good luck to him, I liked the comment of getting stuck in WAWA, ON, I have been marooned there several times in my travels, there must be a ton of people having this experience.
Great point!
Now this is a fucking tour!!!!! Every single details. I enjoy it. Gotta re-watch
Thank you 🙏🏼
I'm in love..with the van..the only thing better would be the mystery machine from scooby doo.
That would be a sweet camper
nice little tour . love that bus. love the plaid.
Thank you 🙏🏼
That goes that New Jersey Adventure van again a second time.😆😆😄😄😄😄😄
Again and again.
Cool bus, Buddy! I just drive our VW Camper today and it was a blast!
Thank you very much
I owned a 1974 and then a 1977. Bought both new. He's not kidding about the fuel injection. When it ran, it ran GREAT! And when it stopped, it stopped DEAD!! The three worse parts of ownership was; the drivers seat and steering wheel position for long hauls. DC to Key West would kill your back. And the accelerator position. No cruise control: after ten hours of driving your shoe would remain bent. And finally, the VW heater. Pretty worthless. There's a small long floor vent between the drivers compartment and the camper area; you could shove you fingers in that thing when the heat was on full blast and still get frostbite. There was a closet where the spare tire well is in the back. And the space where he has his heater is the original spare tire well. Biggest issue with it being inside was that on a hot day the camper would smell like a hot tire. And I myself have wonderful memories of sitting on the luggage rack over the cab in the Florida Keys looking out over the moonlit ocean. Thanks. Great memories. (Oh, and 77 is as fast as I could get it to go.)
Thank you for the great information.
and that is why people are so surprised when my FI 78 runs, it's so ugly, it can't possibly run, but it does...my 76 did hit 85 mph on the flat !.... 78 with rebuilt engine, I sold to a woman in Columbus ohio drove it 70+ all the time and complained about having to stop to get gas...I said that's a safety feature.... oh the heat in my 78, works great, but froze my butt off in that 76....defrost a small 3" circle on the front windshield...wth
Awesome tour and refurbished bus
Thank you very much!
Very good this campervan, everything is in its right place. I liked this kind of small van, which is really very beautiful and pleasant to sleep in nature. Thanks for the video and take care both of you
Thank you very much!
Great video. Thank you.
Thank you very much
We currently are looking for Westafalla or VW right now for vanlife! Thank you for sharing!!!
Good choice!
VW camper vans have festivals over here (well until Corona hit) massive community 🤙🏼🇬🇧
Great community
Thanks Patric very cool VW
Good luck on your trip sounds FUN I've owned several VW Bugs and Bajas easy to work on but if I was going on a road trip get AAA tow insurance just cuz Dang that fuel pump for the heater is noisy
Amazing video thank you
Thank you
They use to have aftermarket extended air intake ducts to help the cooling. Also saw louvered engine deck lid.
Lots of cool details on this one
loved the build
Thank you 🙏🏼
For an old vintage van it looks great. It looks big. However, it needs a little cleaning and pretty untidy but is great.
Thank you very much. Work in progress
Absolutely gorgeous good job 👏🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow that van was really nice, thanks for sharing, happy new years, hope you had a wonderful New years eve, and as always stay safe, safe travels, and God bless love ya Nancy
Thank you! You too!
Great build happy trails and stay safe .
Thank you Barbara
Nice find Patrick. Happy New Year! Stay healthy and happy.
Thank you very much Sophia.
Very nice vintage van great job 👍
Thank you
Ah, memories. My very first car was a 1976 in the green color. But upholstery was same color. Upside, could just take off. Down side, top heavy so any little wind it was a fight to keep the van straight and not weaving all over the road.
Glad to bring you down memory lane
Love the Video Patrick !❤️
Plz follow up with Chris after his trip ...
Yes I will. He is also doing Instagram stories every hour.
What a cool rig!
Thank very much Kim
i had a 77 with racing stripes - good times!
Oh wow, sweet
Watched part of the video, that is really cool.
Thank you for checking in
Great DIY made I like it by the way that goes. The adventure van again I saw it..😅😄😃😆
Awesome! Thank you!
God this thing is so sweet. A modern version that's completely the same but with more horsepower and 4wd would be sick
Yes 🙌🏼
Love it . Want 1 Like that
Me too
"Good Stuff," merci. * I Remember Traveling Across Canada In A Volkswagen Van, With My Foster Parents When I Was A Teenager. Memories.
Pretty cool.
Great bus
Thank you very much
Awesome. I like the as it is condition.
Happy new year Patrick, cool van, wish him the best on his journey, seems like a cool dude... his curtains are backwards 😂
Happy new year! Thank you. Yes, he likes the design facing outwards.
Старые бусы такие уютные, жаль новых таких нет, везде электронника нашпигована😢
Glad you like this classic
THAT ONE is my dream car 💭
Love this rig
He living my dream
Yes, he had one epic trip after this was filmed
i really love the fact that the roof extends so you have more space to sleep, instead of the camper being bigger
Yes, it makes it so much more comfortable
Nice to have standing room, also.
The sink is 76 and up for westy, 74 and 75 had a cabinet behind the driver.... they made two campers interiors, the DELUXE had a stove and refrigerator, the other did not have the stove NOR a refigerator, it was just an ice box. 18 is good, I get 20 with Fuel Injection...cool a bus that runs !
Thank you for the great information
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures excellent video, totally enjoyed it....yea, I went to the garage after watching this...
Ooooh...it's the infamous 1700cc "Pancake" Engine. No wonder he keeps having engine problems!
My folks had a 74 Westy and Volkswagen recalled the "Pancakes" and offered to swap out the "Pancakes" for a standard 1600cc engine. I would recommand a 1776cc which get the power and speed.
Labor of love
Very cool 😊
Thank you 🙏🏼
job on your high top of course I did my own myself.. in my camper trailer as I build it this spring I'm going to make my own high top also because if you bite manufactured they're going to pay a lot of money for it so very expensive.. this is exactly why DIY is the key guys DIY DIY hell yeah.😃
I cant wait to check yours out.
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures thank you so much my friend.. I want to be ready by next summer right now with the weather coming cold so how can I hold off until spring where I finished building my camper trailer then I'll be ready and I'll call you then keep on making great videos my friend how are ya time is coming soon..
i owned a 1974 VW Westfalia a long time ago I loved it at first, but after all the problems and horrible driving, was so happy to sell it. Turning radius, braking, heat, snow all difficult. I prefer the simplicity of a motorcycle now..
Thank you for sharing your experience
Awsome!
Glad you think so!
Actually that's a great thought I have the Wave 3 heater.. because a good heater except in extreme cold like zero degrees or 5 degrees away from 10 degrees it doesn't work that much anymore so I'm going to try one of those blow heaters the blow a does that take no oxygen from your van is much better.. that's what.. I'm going to change my heater this spring. .
I loved my Wave heater in my vintage Airstream.
Love the Bug Buses
Me too
😍😏♥️ I love it-
Thanks for checking in.
My folks had a '69, went to South Dakota, it was a very cool van.
Would love to know where it is today
@@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures me too, there was a westfalia right across the street from our favorite liquor store. It was outside a 4 plexiglas, I wish I would've had the confidence to walk up and knock on the door, it looked pretty cool. Ours was neat, I don't know why my parents got rid of it. It was brand new when they bought it.
Beautiful your equipment, congratulations. My dream is to live in a house like this
You can do it!
Good job
Thanks
He loves his van. So do I.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Great tour. Love when people ind the right rig for them.
BTW Patrick, love the look of your van. Where did you get it painted/wrapped? I’m down to one repair and probably replacing the water heater on my B190, then I’m going to make her pretty.
Thank you. I had the bottom lineX and the top vinyl wrapped
This smaller original camper are beautiful- smart that he installed a diesel heater unit
I like this one.
I also love Little Miss Sunshine!!!
Sweet.
Love camper
Thank you
Cool Man! :) Rich
Thank you
Incorrect about the sink at 6:10, the DELUXE Westfalia's came with a sink and stove. My '77 pop top full Westfalia has the sink only, same interior as in the video.
Braveheart, right....
Super
Thank you very much

❤SICK BUS TOUR ❤
Thanks 🙏
Sweet little Vanagon. The Westfalia was one of my favorites. Kudos to the great job he’s doing on Maintaining & improving on the van. LOL @ the just go around sign! 🤣
1 question: what was that clicking sound I was hearing inside the van?
Thank you! It is the diesel heater. Not sure if it is temporary or runs the whole time it is on.
sorry to heisendork you, but it's not a vanagon...this is a T2, a bus. Not a van. Vanagons were the next generation made from 1980 to june 2002 (south africa)...
That pop top and second bed would be useful for traveling with BF and Stepdaughter, so she can have her own sleeping space
Thank you very much
I want one of these so bad
I realized later that they make kits (not the z bed, not the rock and roll bed) that allow a transporter (passenger) rear seat to fold down...for like 400 dollars....get's you a place to sleep and almost to a camper without the price of a camper....just saying...76 & up are my favorite. if I found one like 72-74+ without FI and blown engine, I would do a subaru engine and trans swap. 71 had the upright beetle and disc brakes, a great year. 68-70 have the wide five wheels & drum brakes...
Go for it
Hi....how can i get one of the vw small campers? Where are they located? How much do they cost?
Hi
The bracket from GoWesty are installed wrong, they have a video in RUclips showing how to install it. Also I recomend the awning on the other side of the bus, that is were is in mine bus and in my friends buses.
Thank you for the information
@Baba Ganush You are wright
I wish i had one
*Why did you have the curtains inside out???*
They look better from the outside
