This video is zen. It's an absolute masterpiece to watch while a masterpiece is playing!! I love old VW buses!!! Shiny, rusty, restored, custom, junky or gleaming!
That’s my favorite part about knowing how to work on my own stuff. I’ve owned many vehicles I simply wouldn’t have been able to afford if I had to take them into the shop.
where is that heart emoji, I LOVE THIS... and yes, I have a 1978 Westfalia VW transporter ! Awesome and I love Beethoven. My first album I bought was Beethoven's 5 when I was 12 ! Put this on LOOP !
I appreciate a bit of Beethoven as much as the next person, and like the subject matter, but really would like to know how long each of these tasks take too! My early Bay is in rougher shape than this one is by quite some way but is good to get some numbers on costs so I know what to look forward to! This looks very much like my '72 Westy. Thanks for the great vid!
Nice job Dr. Looks perfect. I spent a summer in the same pop top model it was amazing. I am pretty sure it had an attachment tent to pull up aside. Not sure if it was stock or not.
Прекрасно е! Толкова любов вложи този човек, че направо ме трогна, докато гледах клипа! Истинско удоволствие и голямо БРАВО от мен! Да се наслаждаваш на пътуванията :)
VW people love low cost abbreviated content, the lower the price the more excited they get. This outcome in not realistic to the average person, the time component is missing - it could take a year to do this much work in your off hours if you have a job - or just take a year off work and see how much it costs you 😂 I worked for a shop where people brought restored buses like this in for service and the average shop bill was another $12,000 just to fix a few more things - because most people are not mechanics and have to pay a shop to do their repairs - shop labor is no longer cheap because cost of living is so high everywhere. This restoration was far from a complete resto (didn’t even split the case), many of the critical maintenance items were repaired but I guarantee many more problems will surface as it is driven, if you can fix those items yourself then great. What does a complete restoration cost to make one PERFECT and how long does it take???? My good friend did it with a 71 - took 10 years in his spare time and cost him $100,000 plus his time, want to see what that bus looks like??? Yeah, my 68 Campmobile is eaten up pretty bad underneath. Didn't stop me from dumping a bunch of money into it. Looks good until you get down on your back and start looking at damage done by metal maggots. Those bastards never sleep..
Great video. Can you tell me how to match paint on my 76 Westy. German Bus. It's a yellow/orange and I can't figure out how to get a paint match. I thought I had it but it turned out to be way too yellow. IS there a way to get the actual paint code or match?. Thanks.
20- 30g or more just for parts and materials, now add in the labor and time and You will have about 3X the top dollar amount You could ever get if sold on a good day! But, that is not why we do it!!
Exactly! I have about 30g in my 71 Westy project with many new body panels and a custom cabinet set from UK and after 6 years I’m almost ready for primer. All labor done by myself including Subaru engine and 5 speed transmission. Now days with the price increase you can add 50% to everything! This person definitely spent very little and did a great job!👍

Mi recomendación es que encuentres un techo de una van camper original ya que la pieza es original y no venden copias de ella. Tal vez alguna van que esten vendiendo sus piezas.

This has to be one of the most beautiful built videos ever. No words just Emotion...
Brilliant. I'm not even a car person, but I loved was getting lost in the beauty of this. Wow.

One of the best videos I’ve seen in my life
Bravo! Classical music is the perfect backdrop for restoring this VW Camper.
it would have cost a lot more had you not done all the work yourself. Excellent job!

What another epic journey. So we’ll done. Thanks for sharing with us. She’s beautiful.
awsome. I'm envious! I had a '66 when I was younger, needed front suspension and I just didn't have the $$. Wish i had it back!
was the steering sloppy as heck ? Like you were driving on a windy day yet it was NOT windy ?
Phenomenal job! She came out BEAUTIFULLY!😍
I can’t believe only 10 people commented. She’s beautiful. Excellent job. Labor of love…
Every Cent well invested! Great video with nice music. Well done.
Bravo! Encore! The script would sell for a lot.
I also calculate all the tools, paint and greases I had to buy :P
Wonderful restoration! Unbelievable car!

A behind the scenes video would be cool.
Depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want yo go. I put £40k in yo mine over 11 years. New everything.
Brilliant & beautiful! You are a talented guy.

very good video, realistic, thank you for showing us your project, very simple, very nice¡¡¡
I hope my 1978 "Orange Blossom Special" got a new life like this one did...! well done!
One of the best yet!
I loved every second of this vid 🧡
Nice work! I just bought a '77 Riviera for a...not "restoration", but "rehabilitation" perhaps. Trying to keep it under $1k, lol. We shall see 🤞

Plus, your labor of course. Wonderful job.
Lovely video. Thank you!
Great video! My wife and I are planning on doing this exact rebuild to our '78 Riviera. I'm dying to know where you got your parts from.
Hey thanks

Hi, nice job! How long did it take to finish?
the sequel !!!
Very nice restoration
well made video, should have more views

Well done sir!
Best Video ever. 🤙🏼🌊🏄♂️
There never is a direct amount of how much it can cost because one always has a friend here and there.

No welding?
13,000 plus AND at least that much labor. But it appeared to be a labor of love so that don't count!
It costs more than the price you buy it , that is for sure :)
Nice job!
Hmmm $13363 for parts and $80000 in labor.
The most expensive part of a restoration is the bodywork and removing rust/corrosion.

If you can do all the work it’s cheap, if you have to pay anyone for any service, your budget just went through the roof!

Hello,
I went to a professional paint supply place and they have all the factory paint codes. Phone around I bet you can find a place that has them
Do you do restore bus builds for others? I would love to buy one to have it fixed up. Are you open to this?
And he didn't change any metal part, this westy has no rust at all.
When I worked on mine, I spent 4500 euros only in bodypart...

Great job, only material cost… there were $20-40k worth skilful labor in it.😂
Yes, very misleading. Most late 60s buses are rust buckets too. I’ve heard 80 -100 k for proper complete restoration with no bondo
Cost would be x 3. Lovely video though.
Super.
