Дуже крута робота. Супер супер супер
Thank you so much!! Much love!!
Awesome job. What’s next for the Kombi?
Using wood for interior Kombi will become heavier so more fuel consumption
Hello, from Missouri,i was wondering where you got window seals an what other sites you used for parts to restore, imjus starting my restore on 68 vw ccamper,it has nothing. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you for the video very satisfying, cheers 🥂
Hey Tim Pearson
I ended up using Heritage parts in the UK for a lot of my seals. They have a number of brands but I found the German branded or I think now VW have started selling a few seals and stuff like that which I have only been able to find at heritage parts.
I don't know about shipping to you but I bet it would be cheaper than to me in Australia.
If you didn't want to go there I have gotten seal parts from Wolfsburg west or CIP1 have great products too.
What are your plans for the Kombi?
Question: When you have cit out the rust, how do you treat the inside of the panel pieces you weld in? Surely they will rust from the inside or are you 110% sure no condensation will collect there in the future?
Hi John
The way I like to do it is treat everything behind the panel as much as possible (rust converter and paint) and then the inner panel I like to paint with something that is really going to stick, normally means something a little more expensive but worth it in the long run. The panel I weld in i like to paint and then around the edges I put a weld through primer on it which is hopefully going to stay on after I weld it in. Then once I have finished all my welding and painting I drench the inside of all the panels I can with a fish oil or cavity wax which is meant to help with any rust issues.
Its a horrible process but well worth it. Long straws and pipes to get into everything.
I hope this helps :)
Sorry for the late reply
I just gave away an 80s model VW camper that looked like it was in about the same condition
F*cking awesome man!
Thanks Mark I really appreciate it!!
Top 10
Thank you Carlos :)
Thank you Adrian, you are pretty close it's a 1969 model. An early one just after the change from the split screen with the V on the front. Thanks for the very kind words and hello from Australia :)
How many hours went into this, love what you did and thinking about rescuing a t2 near my home
I’m not sure how many hours but I’m thinking around 1200-1500 but that’s only at a guess. I would 100% rescue one if it’s near you. They are super fun to work on and there are so many parts for them.
You will have to send me some photos of you do get it
@@HENNOCKGARAGEI am planning on doing some restoration in my car as well. However I only plan for 2-4 months. Was a bit confused when I read the title how it could take 3 years but I think I understand now. Sounds like you probably just did work on weekends and holidays and probably had a 9-5. Plus at the beginning you did a lot of manual grinding and you did a lot of body work. Plus all the wood interior. I am not going to be working when I do mine. Going 12 hours a day 7 days a week until it’s done so I can get up to 1500 hours in just 125 days. Just about 4 months. I do the same when I do work as well. I work 7 days a week up to 14 hours sometimes but then I don’t work all year. Also I think I should get it done a bit quicker in terms of hours spent because it’s a newer car, I am sand blasting and powder coating instead of grinding and painting and no wood work. Really great build though I loved it. Nice to see you get every speck of rust. A lot of people cut corners but you got it all. That’s what I want to do.
Very nice work! What dit you make to make it possible to put it on its side?
I made a small frame that mounts onto the chassis at the rear spring plate mounts and from the front beam mounts and then had it go around the whole van and the had a small bar that mounted off the frame to the gutter so it didn't twist too much on the side I was laying it down on. If you jump on the samba and search for rotisserie plans there are a heap of ideas and plans on there that might help if youre doing the same. :)
Very fast.. dizzy looking at it
👏👏👏👏👏👏
👍👍👍❤
Absolutely super job. I’m very interested in the supports that you used to lay the body over on its side. Do you have any close up photos or even better drawings with dimensions etc. I am just about to start a full makeover on our 72 Lowlight camper. The ability to lay the body over would make a huge difference. Thanks in advance.
Hi tony I made this one just out of some scrap I had laying around. I just used the front beam mounts and the rear suspension mounts and then ran a bar length ways under the gutter to support it so it didn’t twist. But if I was to do it again I would make one like the 1st or 2nd rotisserie on page one of the link below.

Hope this helps
@@HENNOCKGARAGE thanks mate. I have looked at that thread on the Samba, there are a number of good ideas on there. I like the idea of having wheels to be able to move it around while it’s on its side. Cheers
wow. Increible. Cuantas horas de trabajo y cuanto dinero invirtió en esta restauracion. Gracias
Thank you guiller. I think it would be around 1500 to 2000 hours. Not sure how much it has cost. I think maybe about $15000 Australian
hallo ich weis nicht ob du das lesen wirst aber ich habe einen vw t3 westfalia der seit 15 jahre in der ecke steht der wird im sommer wider gemacht weil motor defekt ist Diesel aber deine arbeit ist echt SUPER
Thanks Frank I really appreciate it. I love a a T3 westfalia!! They are sure a nice looking van. You will have to share some photos with me when you have got it back on the road. Once your diesel engine is sorted it will be the perfect summer car. Thanks again for posting it means a lot. Stay safe :)
I should like it much more if you could break up the whole restorationprocess into seperate episodes and deliver more detail during the process so that the viewer can also see what you are doing. Unfortunayely it rushed through the process and one could hardly see what was going on.
I am admiring people who does this kind of job because it is hard work I suppose and you must have a lot of knowledge and skill to complete a vehicle.
Congratulations on your job, you have done good. Shall like to see your next commision.
Thank you very much, I have really enjoyed to process and there will be many more projects to come :)
I do have a play list of every video that break down each task as I was restoring the van if you would like to watch it i will add a link below.
Thanks very much i really appreciate it. Thanks for watching Joubert :)

Very interesting. These restoration shops do such great work and then add odd music, so I watched with sound off. It would really be interesting if the shop would share their profit margin, not the actually numbers that is their business, but percentages. With so much work what would the sale or price to client to do the work? Thanks.
Thanks :)
I think it's hard to say for me as a lot of the say paint work took so long and I bet a paint shop would be a lot quicker than me. But I think it takes a lot more time and effort than people think to get a nice paint job. I think in just sanding I was looking at maybe 20 or 30 hours as it's just such a big flat car and to pay someone to do that it really adds up and that's only the sanding and not the sand paper and other things you use to do a job. So I think sometimes paint shops charge a little too much. But it all comes down to the hours I think
What are the names of the first two songs you played? And the artist? I really liked ‘em👍
La musique
Impossible de regarder avec cela
What music would you put on?
Nice work. But why have you left rusty parts? On the front left side, you changed some rubber on top of the rust. And the front bumper is still in shady condition. When you have it apart, why not fixing it all?
Hi thanks :)
The plan is to fix it but I got super excited having it really close to having it on the road that I chucked them on and got it all road worthy. The plans for the front bumper I want to make a big addition to it to protect the front panel and maybe add some spot lights and to do all that I will have to weld on the bumper and don't want to paint it to have to do it again. But hopefully soon I can get on to it and paint it all and get rid of the rust under the rubber to.
3 to 4 years of tinkering in your spare time is hardly "HARD WORK". That would be if this all would have been done in 3 months. So you cleaned some parts and gave it a nice paint job. Good going.
Cheers bobby boy :)
Out of curiosity what would this vehicle fully restored be worth?
Hi Mitch
I think it's very hard to work out, the market has crashed since the interest rate rises but I think a realistic sale price would be around the 30 to 40k mark. All depends on who wants to buy I think.
Fantastic job but how many days took this?
I couldn't even tell you but I think it was about 10 or 15 hours a week for 3 years :)
Lots of work but worth it.
@@HENNOCKGARAGE I hope success for you
what did you do instead of soldering the wires?
Sorry Vendetti what part are you referring to?
@@HENNOCKGARAGE minute 2:10
What will you do in this car later?
My plan is to just use it and take it away on camping trips. When I finally get around to it I will put a video :)
Vid way too sped up. Nice build but would have preferred it a bit slower
Thanks, I think I did make it a bit fast so I made a slower one.
ruclips.net/video/LCAaZsuuNZ4/видео.html
Why did it take so long?
Life, money and not enough spare time.
@@HENNOCKGARAGE Story of MY life!😁
narative or just a little bit of it is better than your choice of music that is just my opinion viva le mute button
I like the music, even looked the bands up
*3 years to get up this thrash?*
The music in this video is so bothersome that it is difficult to watch the video. Either put music on that is not so obnoxious or don’t put any music on.
Thanks Debjh, any music you would recommend?
