Thank you so much for featuring my van in your video. I had a blast with Scott and can’t wait til we cross paths again. Hope everyone enjoys the tour of my ‘86 Vanagon!
Hello Ryan. Country Homes Camper ‘91 over here. Who is the manufacturer of your hardtop? Where did you have the work done to install? Thank you so very much!
We don't have many 4x4 vans in our country, very rare, and expensive. To convert to 4x4 in a shop would be as much cost as to buy the said rare vans also... For those whom traveled enough in a vehicle, they know 4x4 really matters. Trucks or double cabin trucks are plenty and cheap here, but you just can't beat vans when it comes to square meter of space to compare with and the compact size of it. When I get my compact sized 4x4 van, this vanagon build is definitely what I want.
Nice utilization of that space. I am re-desiging my interior on a 87 Westy TDI right now. This video helped me thing about some different ideas. Nice work with the butcher block. I also love the idea of teh lighting switch panel on the passenger side front to rear air vent. I deleted my front to rear channel because I am putting a webasto style heater in the back. I don’t have AC so no need for those channels.
Thank you Scott fir interviewing this gentlemen about his 1986 VW Vanagon. It was very cute. Wasn’t sure if he had a toilet or not until you asked him and all of sudden he pulled it out. Very cute. Very nice camper van. Thank you again Scott. Hope you have a great night and see you soon!
Nice upgrade of that Vanagon! I owned a 1983 one that stayed in the family for 200,000 miles. Ryan did a great upgrade with all of the tailored touches that maximizes space and function.
Very nice! Hidden cutlery drawer is a novel idea. Having refrigerator and stove located where it is what a great idea. I assume you sleep in the back ot the seat falls into a bed.
Way cool van! Ryan, I love that you swapped out the pop top for a permanent high top. It has everything you need. Wonderful blend of the history of the vw vans and new stuff to make a lovely home on wheels to take you to the next adventure and enjoy the journey along the way. Scott, thanks for sharing!
i had a vw-van too for many years and crossed the us and canada. nice feeling to drive. just like a normal car. now having a bigger rv but always missing my old vw van. many greetings from austria, germany
Thank Scott! Your videos just keep getting better to this 73 year male. Always love the character of the old VW Westfalia! Travato owner here and loving it.
wow 😍 me encantó!! super bonito, super bien pensado, cada pequeño espacio está super bien aprovechando, y además estéticamente es muy bonito! simplemente, ¡me encantó! saludos desde la Ciudad de México. 🇲🇽
I had a a 67 Volkswagen camper and now here I am 50yrs later looking for one my younger brother had one his entire life I really love this one thanks for sharing 😊✌🏻
I LOVE Vanagon Westfalias! I had one from 2000 to 2021 & finally sold my beautiful ‘89 Westy after having my Travato KL for a couple of years. I loved it so much, I kept it for two years after buying my 2019 KL, just in case I had regrets. Vanagon Westy’s will alway hold a special place in my heart!
I've been scouring over van layouts for well over a year trying to come up with the best design possible, and was very stoked to receive my answer while watching this video. I admire the functionality of this layout! Nice work, and please let me know if this is a van you ever want to sell!
Superb rig, very well thought out, using old and new ideas. This vehicle has maintained its vintage feel, yet its been simperthetically refined and updated. I'm taking ides for my 71 bay. Thanks for showing. 👍
Gotta have my porta-potty. Between the front seats where the dog-bed is, is where I'd put it. Along privacy curtain to pull across and with the window-covers for the cab.
What a fantastic van build. All of his hidden counter extensions are amazing. It is well constructed inside. Thank you for sharing it. Black Bear project should consider the counters and pullout pantry drawer. Nice to be able to see contents from the side.
Hey guys! You got an awesome van! ~ I Jen and my man Ken have a 1981 VW Westfalia pop up camper van! We love him! We named him Charlie Harvey Klinger! LOL Safe fun good Magical Journey’s always! 🧡☮️

Great van tour! Thank you Ryan for letting us tour your van home. Great design. Thanks Scott for bringing us another unique view of what is out there. Loved the drive away shot and the little beep beep at the end!
This Vanagon is gorgeous....I would like to build it exactly the same way...so cool and the craftmanship is topnotch....have lots of fun and safe miles....🌞😉 grtz from Flanders..👊🏻🍻.
Great tour! Used to own an ‘85 Westy pop top. Loved your redesign and placement of the fridge/stove. That downstairs bed in ours was super comfy! Happy New Year!

This is incredible. I’m watching it because I am about to buy the same model of vw van, and now I wonder if I’ll be able to build it similar way on my own. Is there any video that shows step by step how to do it? This design is very creative and smart!
Fantastic engine choice, I had the same EJ25 in my Westfalia hightop ( the one in my thumb nail pic) Transforms the van into a totally different beast. Love what has been done inside too.
@@jruerph I guess it would depend on the country you live in, In England more and more City's are banning Diesel engines from entering, and its only going to get more restrictive. Unless you have the latest spec engines, Diesel is dead. And who doesn't love the noise from a Boxer Subaru 😎
Ryan, Did you order that Riemo kit from Germany? Wondering about the process. We are installing the riemo bed hardware in a custom build now. Im doing a Ford E conversion. What brand of sink and stove are you using? Do you have a suggestion for us?
