I don’t understand a word of Finnish, however you don’t have to, just listen to the beautiful orchestration and wonderful singing by Tarja. I’m just a Nightwish fan, don’t care who’s singing, all have their abilities. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🇦🇺

note: I took this from a website, not my translation. "Luojani, luoksesi anna minun tulla siksi miksi lapseni minua luulee" / "My God, to you let me (be)come what my child takes me for" don't know about that but i'm not sure what would be the correct way to translate.

Tuomas: "I decided to make it a ballad with an orchestra, but without drums or guitars. I had doubts about it until the very end, and just in case, I had also written the lyrics in English. But in the end, it did add an exotic touch to the album, and it's a sort of a tribute to our Finnish fans who have been with us from the start. It's also a beautiful song, with the cello solo that I still think is highlight of the whole album. You can practically feel the weight of past centuries. The solo was played with a genuine 17th century baroque Stradivarius, and I've heard that the instrument is worth at least two million pounds".
Tarja later revealed that the song has a special meaning for ther. "It's been wonderful to see how people all around the world quiet down to listen to it and light up their lighters. And even though there's nothing special happening on-stage - there's just me, singing alone - the song always manages to create this incredibly beautiful atmosphere. I get to sing in Finnish, and as we're like musical ambassadors of Finland in a way, I think the song is very important. I've done classical concerts abroad, and after singing something in Finnish, people have often told me that they think our language is very beautiful. So it's very important to me, and I think it's good to keep in mind where we come from."
Instrumentals broke my heart, absolutely gorgeous ...I didn't understand the language, but my heart broke when the cello's chimed-in.

The Nightwish songs in Finnish language are very special. Both Marko as Tarja performed them beautifully. This performance from Tarja is absolute my favorite.
Yeah Tarja is such a great singer. Right now she is on her Christmas Together tour in Europe where she sings classic christmas songs. I just listened on Ytube to her concert in a churh in Eindhoven, Holland. She is stunning.

The first time I heard this song I was moved with such emotion and I had no clue what the lyrics were. Tuomas and Tarja created such magic, He with the composition and she with her voice and body language.
Marko did the exact same thing to me with his solo song "Isani Aani"

This song is on the fifth NW album "Once". In that album all the songs include that word ... this too...cause that "Kerran" means Once. Tuomas made that possible. This song goes into your heart and mind...the lyrics are awesome...there is English translation of the lyrics too. Check also the Lowlands live version too.

I'm glad you liked it. From what I wrote, else the composition and Tarja signing, what stunned me all the time I hear this song is the amount of emotion it can produce without understanding a word of it. Tarja was at her very best. And Tuomas show again how a great composer he is.

OK, I was kidding about having to learn Finnish but now...beautiful language though. Looked at a translated version of the lyrics and darned if I can figure out what this song is about. Best I can make out the singer is asking to die (creepy). Stay safe, God Bless, keep rocking.
The lyrics are very cryptic even if you understand finnish, I guess it's poetry. If you take the lyrics literally they are just weird, like writing a letter inprisoned in one's cradle...ok😃 In the chorus there is some playing with the words which makes it difficult to translate. Word to word translation: "My lord to you let me come/become what my child thinks I am". So there are two sentences merged together (come and become are both "tulla" in finnish, and the word order of sentences is very flexible in finnish). The sentence "In you, the beauty of the world from which the death made me an artist" is just as weird in finnish.

Lovely reaction! One of my top 5 Nightwish songs with Tarja singing. Song is from the Once album. Song is in Finnish and just so beautiful. Makes me wish Nightwish had more songs in Finnish. One of their other Finnish songs that I love is Erämaan Viimeinen. They do an instrumental version of that song called Last of the Wilds during Floor's costume change at Wacken. Erämaan Viimeinen was done as a single with the vocals sung by Finnish female singer Jonsu of the band Indica. Her voice has a beautiful folky sound. Both versions are beautiful in their own way but I love the lyrical version and the Finnish language sounds so magical. Why don't you guys check out Marcos project from 1999 called Conquest? It was a cool band featuring also the original drummer of Stratovarius. The video is from a TV Show called Jyrki, which we had in Finland back in the time to introduce new talents. This was before the the time of reality TV...
