A lot of RUclips journalist like to write the Outlander off as a re-badged Nissan. It's too bad they don't research the car before presenting it. One example often overlooked is the all wheel drive system. It is a Mitsubishi engineered system and a good one at that. There is still enough Mitsubishi here to call it a Mitsubishi. It's not just a re-badged Rogue.

The AWD system is mechanically 100% Nissan Rogue. Only the software tuning is Mitsu’s… And it is way worse than the old one. Go see RUclipsr : Carquestion’s roller test and diagonal test.

@@frederickmiller5492 I still have my 08, 4 Cyl, CVT with 132K. Engine and transmission run like a clock. A/C is original and still runs cold. Exhaust is mainly original with 14 yr old muffler. Some folks need to learn the difference between Badge-Engineering and Platform Sharing, the new Outlander shares a Platform and Engine with a Nissan Rogue but that's where the similarities end. Just compare pictures of the Outlander and Rogue online and you'll see they are not exactly the same.
Badge Engineering for example is when you take the body of an existing vehicle and another manufacturer uses their logo on their design with some minor exterior and interior change. Examples include the Toyota Yaris and Mazda2, the Toyota GR 86 and Subaru BRZ, Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra.

Thanks for the review! -- I bought my 2023 Outlander PHEV (SEL Premium) 8 weeks ago - local dealer (Columbus, Ohio - USA) had 7 Outlander PHEVs on the lot. I got mine for $1,200 UNDER MSRP and the dealer gave me $31,500 for my 2018 Acura TLX -- I paid $18,000 plus tax for the Outlander. I have driven 1,840 miles -- getting 85 MPGe. I am plugging it in every night for my daily commute and weekend errands. It feels "luxurious" inside -- premium leather, panoramic roof, 360 camera, power folding side mirrors, heated, steering wheel, heated seats, hands-free tailgate, head up display, Bose speakers AND massaging seats! If I take a longer drive, I will have no "range anxiety." Plus, the Outlander has a 10-YEAR WARRANTY. ONE BIG NOTE: the owner's manual clearly states that the 3rd row is ONLY for people under 5' 3." I do not need a 3rd row, so I "tri-fold" it. This opens up a HUGE, DEEP storage well. And, I can stack duffel bag items on the folded 3rd row! The RAV4 Prime may have better overall mpg, but the 18-month wait and $12,000 "dealer adjustment" are outrageous. One local dealer wanted $65k for loaded Prime with MSRP of $52k. I did not consider Kia or Hyundai brands -- "Kia boys" have stolen 3,000 of them in my area (and assaulted drivers in the process). This is a real issue. Lastly, my home solar panels will be installed in 6 weeks along with a Level 2 charger in my garage. The Outlander PHEV is the PERFECT choice for me in 2023. Final note: the local dealer now has 14 Outlander PHEVs on the lot and offering $1,250 off MSRP. Availability, luxury, value and price -- a great vehicle to "step into" electrification! Lastly, the front end "look" is bold and unique. I like driving a vehicle that does not look like all the others on the road :>)

I bought one back in June. It’s the SEL trim with S-AWC, meaning I have all the toys she spoke of. The six different driving modes make a difference with performance and gas mileage.
Now it won’t win any drag races in any mode, but when Tarmac (sport) is selected, acceleration and braking are more responsive. I don’t plan on taking it on any off road adventures, mind you - it’s strictly a commuter and grocery hauler/mall crawler.
I’m sure I’ll have competent snow performance when needed, since that’s a fact of life in my neck of the woods. But what wasn’t mentioned is the 10yr/100,000mi powertrain, 5yr/60,000mi bumper to bumper warranties and 5yr/unlimited miles roadside assistance. These are industry best and price was very reasonable for this segment.

That's Awesome, I got mine in July SEL but 2wd since I don't need the S-AWC ... It's funny how people are so worried on being fast and high HP ... I think it drives great and I was able to get 36 mpg on my last road trip.
Exactly it has one of the best warranties out there. I used the rain/snow mode and it handled great when I was driving through a rain storm in Utah.

The two black offerings - Diamond and Labrador were my “second” choices, with Diamond barely nosing out Labrador for second place. Again, no Diamond Blacks available in the trim I wanted. So Labrador it was AND ITS GORGEOUS! 😊

I really appreciated the reference to VW. I just took my 2017 VW Tiguan to webuyanycar and despite being very responsible on my end as an owner, keeping up with timely oil changes when due and supplying the engine with no less than 91 grade fuel for 5 years, I was just told that at just shy of 68,000 miles, my crankshaft is shot. To a car owner, that’s essentially a pancreatic cancer level diagnosis. VW manufacturers warranty only goes up to 60k (what a coincidence). The guy who worked there, Matt, suggested Mitsubishi. At first I almost laughed but then he went in to how where many companies like VW seem to be designing their engines with more potential problems in the name of “fuel efficiency,” Mitsubishi has gone backwards in their design. I’m about an hour in to these reviews and I am stunned at what I am turning up. I’m seriously considering going Mitsubishi for my next car. Never thought in a million years I’d speak those words!
