      If he made it past Nadal, that would be pretty spectacular from him, but I highly doubt he will. Nadal's movement around the court is far too superior and he will expose Delpo's weaker backhand. In any case, I wish him the best of luck.

    As much I want to see someone beating Nadal chances are very slim, Delpo is playing great at the moment but the big test comes now for him.
    I have a feeling Nadal will explore Delpo’s backhand and move him around the court, which he does so effectively,Nadal seems unbreakable but I’d love to be proved wrong

    Increíble tercer set. Delpo sacaba 1-3, 15-40 y lucía totalmente fuera de foco y apagado. Terminó ganando 5 games seguidos y llevándose el set.

      Tiene dos triunfos contra él, tal vez algún día le vuelva a ganar pero la losa mental la va a tener siempre. Aparte no le pasa solo con Del Potro sino también contra Wawrinka y Zverev. Y ni hablar contra Djokovic, tuvo que esperar a que sea una sombra el nivel del serbio para poder ganarle por primera vez tras 14 derrotas.

    • @fedx5879
      @fedx5879 6 лет назад +5

      Fairy tale? LOL. The dude's name will forever be synonymous with clay, nothing in the future really makes much difference to that. I mean, the guy has won 10 French Open titles for goodness sake. He's already in a freakin' fairy land on clay. Literally, the only significance of this tournament for Nadal is catching and possibly surpassing Federer's slam count. His clay court legacy is untouchable. For anybody else to win the French Open would be like a dream come true for them, a truly career-changing experience. For Nadal, it's only about his rivalry with Federer.

      What makes you say he's one of the few players who can beat Nadal on clay? The facts beg to differ. They played once at RG and Nadal win in 3... It would be more accurate to say he's one of the many players who has never beaten Nadal on clay.

    Delpo is the number 4 in the world now and he has it well deserved even with the injury prior to Roland Garros could show a great recovery. I feel that he can beat Nadal but I think Nadal feels unbeatable in this tournament and only a very bad day can make Del Potro win but you never know.

  • @MrPatrickbuit
    @MrPatrickbuit 6 лет назад +27

    I think Delpo relying on his backhand as a defensive shot is fine.
    However, if he wants to beat Nadal he:
    - Absolutely can't slice his backhand as much as he did here. Nadal doesn't care about slice at all, it just gives him the upper hand in the rally.
    - Has to hit his forehand with way more power. That's the only way to break through Nadal. I think Nadal's higher output angle will make this easier than against Cilic, but I still felt there were times in this match that Delpo wasn't using his forehand to its full potential.

    • @Nasilah87

      Khairi Lah Delpo is one of my favourite people on tour, and he’s also an amazing player. I’m not trying to undermine him, I’m just breaking down what I think :). Unless you believe everything I said is wrong, then I’d like to hear your reasoning.

      MrPatrickbuit Add in the serve, winning easy points on Nadal is so crucial, hence why guys like Isner and Soderling had some success against him

    • @camelot2863
      @camelot2863 6 лет назад +1

      The thing is that Nadal applies SO much top spin that when his opponent applies too much power on the ball, it usually goes out. For Delpo to win he should have almost perfect control of this. But again, nothing that he hadn't already done before. It is a promising match.

      I've been watching indeed, but not having hallucinations such as "his backhand was better than his forehand". By the way, Del Potro himself admits that his backhand is in a poor state and that it can be easily exploited by Rafa as a lefty. See it on his post match interview from 1m45: ruclips.net/video/ncXDDmZMcZY/видео.html
      But maybe yes, you know better than Delpo himself about his backhand.

    How cool a guy can be! Always cool and laid back! As a fan of Federer the only man who could possibly stop Fed recently was this guy but how can one deny his superb dignity. I love him as well. Hope he stops Nadal this time. Not that I wanna overlook Nadal's effort but I wanna see someone else wins the title this time. It is so boring!
