    The stupid thing is the $500 that she gave him she could have put to her monthly or annual insurance policy and she wouldn't have had to go through none of this but pay a deductible to get it fixed...smh

    People don't understand that you pay for a service, regardless of the outcome. She hired him to investigate, but she only wanted to pay if he proved her case...regardless of facts.

      collision isn't always worth it on older cars but ALWAYS have liability (that's what covers medical injuries and is required by law)

    So she was following too closely, the car in front of her had to suddenly stop, she rear ended the car. Liability only insurance. She's at fault and trying to find a loophole to avoid consequences.
    ETA. Yeah she was suing him for $5k for pain and suffering bc of the accident *she caused*

    I watch this show frequently so I shouldn't be shocked by how greedy folks can get when they overinflate the amount they sued for and yet here I am, surprised once again by someone's blatant greed.

      It is not inflated amount; it is the way court cases are in court. You will learn this one day when you are being sued for a car accident or whatever. They can sue for a higher amount than was the damage. For in court, you do not always get what you are suing for.

    I was involved in an accident back in November. The other lady didn't have a license. She actually told me her husband was on the way and if I would say he was driving. Many people try to do this.

      I witnessed an accident in front of my house, a Honda Civic tried turning in front of a school bus and it didn't end well. As I was running up to the Honda to make sure the driver was okay, another guy jumps out of a different car and yanked the driver, a teenage girl, out of the car. At first I thought he was another witness trying to help the driver, but come to find out it was the girl's father, and he was trying to take the blame as the driver of the Honda!!!! I was questioned by the police on the scene and made sure they knew she was driving....

      My ex was driving on a suspended license and looking at Facebook and rear-ended someone. She got her passenger (not me) to say they were driving. She didn't get caught in that lie though. Some people are just shady

    I believe her when she said they asked her to say that BUT she has to be nuts to think she should get her money back!! He done his job and there were NO CAMERAS!! If she felt like he missed something why didn't her Karen ass go and ask for footage!?!     This woman is ridiculous... even if he was driving and she found proof, she still HIT HIM. Take some damn onus.     When are people going to realise what 'pain and suffering' really means when they sue in court. Unless they have been mutilated physically and are suffering from the pain of disfigurement, then they have to stop suing for something that they have no rights to...

      Right but Pain and suffering is also mental and emotional anguish which is real and is often rewarded in many court cases. These litigants rarely get it because they're already a bit nuts and greedy before they come to the show.

    How exactly was a video showing who the driver of the vehicle she hit was going to help her? I'd understand if the video was to show the driver abruptly stopped, but it may also just have proven she was tailgating.

    I understand people may disagree but I think it should be illegal for a business to display an inoperable security camera. Where I live in California they seem to work when it benefits the business but not the employee or strangers who can use a witnessing device. We no longer love our neighbors and feel obligation toward protecting and helping our fellow Americans.

    Plaintiff doesn't understand .... she hired the private eye to attempt to get the video evidence, not to produce the evidence. He did what he was hired to do, he attempted to get the evidence, but the evidence just wasn't there, not his fault and he shouldn't have to work for free, no one should.

    If the plaintiff truly believes evidence existed she should have gone herself to get it and brought it to court. Then she would be able to go, this is what the PI gave me and this is what I got after he claimed he “finished”
    Even then she would be capped at the $500 she paid.

    Even IF she could prove someone else was driving, she would still be found 100% at fault. The only possible outcomes are the unlicensed driver being fined/charged for driving without a license and the passenger being charged for providing false information to a police officer. However, she was still traveling at an unsafe distance. Therefore, HER outcome would remain the same🙄

    Plaintiff is at fault in this 100%, what I don't care for is JM's explanation of having a choice when driving when she wasn't there to witness what happened. You have a choice?     heck, I know....she rear ended another car. She's going to be liable for all car repairs. If she hires another detective agency, she'll STILL be liable for all the car repairs. If the wrong person was driving and didn't have a license, he'll get a fine for driving without a license and SHE'll be responsible for all car repairs. Easy peasy!!

    Let me say, I work for an insurance company. Majority of the time, even if they are driving without a DL but you Rear End someone, YOU ARE STILL AT FAULT. If you have liability only on your policy, your car still is not getting repaired even if they don't pay for the other person's car.

    When u rear end anyone you are automatically at fault unless u have video showing they cut you off and then slammed on brakes which is rare. I have a dashcam for that exact reason everyone should have one. $200 and less will save you a lot of money if the Police or insurance and proves who is at fault

    The plaintiff could be in really really big trouble , and was in a very desperate and devastating situation . Really needed anything to help her defend herself.
    For some injury cases involving accidents , some people can sue for millions, far above the insurance maximum, and then the person loses everything and has to pay for the rest of their life.
    Most lawyers as a policy only go after insurance companies , but some , especially in nyc , will go after the person.
