Swift is like the plague. Everyone knows at their training is just the way to get money out of their drivers and they reward them with a CDL (whether they pass or not) and do not care if their drivers make it or not.
As a swift driver, my biggest fear is not getting into an accident, its ending up on here. This channel is pure motivation. 💯

I actually laugh at the drivers sitting there videoing and saying “don’t hit my truck, don’t hit my truck”. They sit there and watch them hit their truck and don’t even blow the horn. Lol
Yeah they act like it’s just too much to open the door and wave the other off. This is an industry issue nobody wants to actually help the other guy anymore sad what our industry has become.

@@captainflatbed.7927 in my day we would help. Get out and direct the driver. Tell them how to do it then watch them and prevent them hitting shit. Now everyone just sits back taping them but never want to help. Dont honk to wake a brother up. Jump out and offer help. Jump up and discuss how to do it then direct and watch them offering directions. I seen drivers spend 20 min but cant figure out how to do it. I quit driving 10 yrs ago and to this day i still jump up and talk to them then direct. Some drivers ask me to back it in but nope you must listen to me. You must do it and learn. I offer my 20 yrs experience to help you learn. My daughter many times sees me park my car and jump up and talk to the driver for 5 min telling them their mistakes and how to do it. Then tell them how much to turn and which direction. Presto 5 min later backed in and no damage. If me as a car driver 10 yrs later can offer help then why cant a current driver not offer help? I see drivers trying to hit a dock. I watch 5 min to see their mistakes. Then talk to the driver about how to do it. Some say they were never trained to back up and ask if i can. Oh i would love to but i cant. I must teach you not do it for you. Some drivers i try to help but they refuse to listen and turn opposite of what i say or over steer. Over steer one way then over steer the other and i tell them do not turn so hard you only need a tiny bit. Once in a straight line they turn hard left then hard right and wonder why trailer wont go straight lol. 10 yrs after quit and i cant sit there laughing at a driver. I must park my car and offer free lesson and prevent damage yet a driver wont offer a fellow driver any help. They rather laugh and judge then offer 5 min of help. I refuse to judge if dont first offer a hand and only judge the stubborn driver that wont listen. Well man i stood here trying but you refuse help and wont listen and still doing it wrong so i just leave. I say turn right a quarter turn but you turn left all the way and wonder why cant do it. Yup im in a car but drove truck 20 yrs. Dont ask me to do it or you wont learn. Just listen to my directions and learn from my free lesson and i will watch to make sure dont hit shit. I run side to side to stay in view of mirrors. Or if im at the front i run side to side to be sure i can see both sides of the trailer. Please dont judge and offer help. Jump up and tell them their mistakes so they learn the right way. To honk does not offer directions only wakes others up.
@@captainflatbed.7927 That's a big problem I've been seeing ever since I started driving truck. There's very little respect afforded to other drivers these days. Stuff like trying to back into a spot at a truck stop can be a exercise in futility at times just because truckers will race behind you while backing up.
Well if it's a company truck and the driver doesn't actually own it why would he be bothered to try to stop it from being hit? Not like anything comes out of his pocket.
3 week class, 1 week with a trainer (who has a whole year of experience) and you're on your own driver.

@@Mycrazyadventur91 They are now sending people to 3rd party schools which is 6-8 was. Then, after obtaining the CDL A license, they go on the truck with a trainer for a month. The trainer will determine if the student needs more time at that point.
It's 50 hrs for experienced drivers that haven't been in a truck for 30+days. 240 hrs for inexperienced drivers.
Wish you would do more lip reading improv like you did with the two swift drivers, that was funny as hell!

I worked for Swift for 4 1/2 years and my blood pressure went up when a Swift backed in next 2 me. While I worked for Swift I got hit 3 × in company terminals.

I’ve always found it perplexing as to why low hanging overpasses seem to attract swift trucks like sh*t attracts flies.
Appreciate these videos, always good for a laugh, when sitting for several hours at a grocery warehouse waiting to get your bills back.
Too many newer drivers are trained on 28' trailers; maybe there needs to be a cdl endorsement for pulling 53' trailers.

What’s scary is I started my original orientation for Swift after I went to driving school 22 years ago. I was recommended by my trainer to stay on as a trainer but I had no desire to stay on long haul. I’ve worked local regional punching a clock ever since!

@@shawnkelly1241 hey, you can still offer help, I've stopped in my car to help drivers out when backing, I'll stop traffic and watch their blind side too. They may need some advice too, not just on driving, like weight distribution or other tricks you know. I think they film because they may not be able to help, they may end up creating a bigger problem.

If 1 can judge without offering help then they are the fool and in the wrong not the rookie making a mistake. Yes its the company should train better but first time alone without a trainer can be tough. Gotta now make your own choices without help. Maybe if went back to the days when drivers helped not judge things may get better. I was the guy to offer help without making money. Here is 20 gallons of fuel for the 20 it costed to fill. 0 profit, 100% help. Oh shit you got stuck. Here i have chains i can pull you out. Oh offered me money, no thank you just a hot coffee to warm up be cool. Oh broke down no tools. I will grab mine and help fix your truck. 0 pay needed just offer help to another driver if you can. The chain keeps going and 0 money changed hands just help when you need it later down the road. The trucking life is tough and if nobody helps it makes it tougher. We all brothers and sistere on the hwy. We must help and protect eachother. Sadly i lost my az due to medical issues but i drove 20 yrs coast to coast, north to south. I still see my truckers as family. Many if heard my voice would likely remember me as i was on the cb 24 7 making friends. Ran many miles as the front door east to west passing the miles. Detroit to la in under 3 days with 10 truckers in a row talking about anything to pass the long days. I heard now that nobody on the cb giving location of smokie bear or accidents or just shooting the shit. We gave heads up if scales open and if checking logs so others could park and scribble a few lines to look legal. Me as a rookie i was having a hard time making it legal. 2 old drivers sat there helping me and offered a second log book so looked legal to dot. I learned tricks to that book by others that offered free advice. Then dispatch would use computer to make more legal and at times delete trips so now 2 trips is logged as 1. Or the famous ran out of hrs so start a new log showing 2 days off then throw the out of hrs book in the trash. I would do toronto to la and back in 6 days. Do 2 trips back to back but only log 1 trip that took 12 days lol. Those days dispatch and other drivers helped. Maybe switch up a few fuel recpts cause ya they need one to show mon and i need one to say thurs. Tight spot to back into, 3 drivers helped. Cant slide tandoms, a driver would pull the pins as the other rocks the truck. Then slide and the driver counts the holes and locks it as the driver rocks until pins pop. Yup its not my truck but 2 is faster and easier and no too far either way. Drivers haul a 48 foot flat bed with 10 foot spread then 53 foot van with 5 or more feet of tail swing and hit shit forgetting its not a 10 foot spread with rear axle at the far back. Why judge and not offer advice. On slick roads you see a brothers steers slide you suggest sliding 5th wheel ahead 3 knotches to put more weight on steers and help do it. Never judge if wont offer help. Just shut up and move on.
It's sad, I remember a loooong time ago they got no publicity. Their ad agency deserves an award. Well done.

My best memory of Swift being Swift was in Baltimore circa 2001. Mr. "Professional" swift driver attempted to bobtail into a clearly marked "NO TRUCKS" motel entrance beside a Flying J. Idiot hit an exiting car head on. "Mr. Professional" couldn't bear the thought of actually walking a couple hundred feet from the parking lot.

WOW! A reputable company would never let a permit holder go on the road with a trainer! I am sure the rules are clear but, swifty doesn't chose to follow them! Companies just need to draw a line in the sand and stop this mess!!!!
I stopped at the I-80 truck stop in Iowa to shut down for my 10 during the truck jamboree. It was packed but I found a spot. I was backing into a spot between two parked trucks. One came out of the sleeper and the other stood on the side of his truck. They both relaxed when I was done. I was 🤣😂😂 at them. I'm a SWIFT driver. 😂😂😂
If you notice, these trucks are Freightliners. These trucks are dogging brakes in slippery conditions. Drivers not at fault. These trucks detect objects in front of them. You don't want sudden movement in snow, ice , nor wet road.
Whats more scary with swift? Walking to your truck with a swift backing up next to you, just opened the door and they floor it. Its like going through a war zone.

I went through Swift to get my CDL again after I was forced to downgrade it because of tickets. And I found out why Swift has a bad rep. They pay the final road-testers to pass their drivers, and I guess if a driver fails the driving test, the tester doesn't get paid, or doesn't get paid as much. There were 3 of us being tested and one guy failed miserably - but the tester passed him anyway.

You shouldn’t make fun of new drivers, no matter what company. Everyone is just trying to make a living and when your green you will make some mistakes. Your not doing nothing if you didn’t mess up.
@bnewton72 most drivers are new and are placed in trucks without enough experience, (in whatever ever major recruiting freight company) just to make a quick buck. They may need help or advice from more experienced drivers. But your right some may have to get off the road.

I was going to ask the same exact question.
Just way too many accidents and generally tearing stuff up.
But, like the other person who commented, it would have to be because they are a self-insured company.
Otherwise, with a track record like theirs, I doubt that there would be any other insurance companies that would take the risk with Swift Transportation or other carriers that have high accident/incidents rates for that matter.
Someone said cause new drivers its 60%.but at a yard they told me its like 80% cause dont have report smaller stuff on thier own yards. But in thier defense. People got start someplace. Remember new car drivers in first 2 years usually have a accident. So now some drivers actually learn in a truck as scary as that sounds. Years ago companies like swift etc. You had have 2 years exp just to get on. Now just apply. Crazy hu! Ooh forgot some big companies are self insured. Knight was.

Your videos make me feel good about myself when I did a drivers test with Swift, I thought I failed because I hit a curve. I asked the instructor, "Did I fail?" He treated me like, "You have been initiated." He responded, "Relax. No, you did not fail."
My Schneider trainer was no good sat in the passenger seat and let me hit a fellow driver with the tail swing while he was on his phone
It seems the majority of trainers only use the student as a second logbook. He gets all the miles while the student gets maybe $350 a week before taxes.

NGL, back when I drove for Swift, I intentionally pulled off more than one blind side back. Usually to prove a point once enough shit talk happened on 19. Then again, I was one of the ones that could back... so I knew damn well I could shut the haters up by not tearing anything up. These days I drive for the Army... and I'm about the only person in my unit that is afforded the privilege of backing without a ground guide present
