If you are at 10,000ft and youre close to top of decent. The pilot must twist Alt to final fix altitude & if FMC has correct decent altitudes VNAV will properly decend to those waypoints. If along the way the plane shouldnt go below a vertain altitude at a certain waypoint then set ALT to that altitude. After waypoint lower to final fix
Thanks Louis. I flew 747-4's for many years but using this on the dash 8 in FS2020 is just not the same - (hard work and naughty springs to mind!) your tutorial will be very helpful for new comers to L & V NAV and new comers to the world of virtual simulation
Me and VNAV = Holding my breath when waiting descent to happen even set the right numbers in computer... Then you end up going missed approach at FL400. xD I let it do that in the middle of "manual" (setting manually altitude for A/P) descend but wanted to click VNAV so bad and see what happens.
I don't know now, but all seems to work now. Basically have to know that the 747 floats like crazy. Need to lower altitudes way before to let the plane descend. Or else we have to force it with V/S. PMDG, well that is just my favorite :) (737-800) . I find everything just working fine, and that's why its my main.
I was thinking why the VNAV is not descending at all. Thanks, this video answers all of my questions! One question: do we know this is a bug? Does VNAV help you descend in real life?
I've been struggling to figure out the VNAV settings. This was a HUGE help. Thanks!!

Help. Altitudes at specific waypoints in PFD doesnt show up after tapping DATA key.
Thanks for figuring VNAV. I was having a hard time with it.
So, for all intents and purposes, VNAV is non functioning in msfs2020

Nah, the same thing happen to PMDG's.. can't be bugs on both.

Yes, this crap is still broken 2 years later. 1/19/2023 ver 2.6 RC1

Is the VNAV fully working good? And is this plane finally have T/D Green marker om the flight map?
1yr after your post. And it still doesn’t work.
Can you make a VNAV/L with the 787 full depth and FMC!
Ok I will try to do that, thanks for the comment
