Iammightymeaty yup Lord knows him and Eric even more need the money to get a woman that doesn't look like shrek. You would think Eric would use some of those deep pockets to book a dermatologist. That acne and scars is nasty nasty lol
Thank you for another fantastic review. I just received my Caribbean (serrated) sheepsfoot blade today. It dwarfs my SpydieChef. Thing is super sharp. Carry on fine sir and good luck with the move
Hey bro. I have one of these and love it. No rust at all and spent alot of salt water time ect. I hear lc200n is a tough steel too. Edge retention and toughness to boot, while having a performance grind!! Cant beat it in my opinion. I would love to see a pm2 in this steel with lc200n liners as well
This is my favorite fishing knife. I just don’t have to worry about anything with it…no need to keep obsessively clean, sheepsfoot is a great shape on the boat, highly visible, easy to keep razor sharp and it’s substantial/sturdy so you can do some *work* with it if you need to.
Good timing. Just ordered one of these. Saw all the bad action comments. Was hoping you’re able to tune it. I may do some washer polishing and see if I can tune this like a pm2. My dragonfly h1 gets no respect. Replaced by the bugout for a running knife then shifted to boat and beach duty and now replaced again.
You could get a 'Bone tool'.. It's the same thing you're referring to. It's a poly/plastic prybar that is provided by manufacturers, and is very good at spreading the plastic trim inside a car without breaking any clips or such. Cheap, strong, and effective. Use it for knives too, works good.
Holy headgear Batman! I always assumed you were wearing a semi ridged mask held on by a strap. I didn't realize you have been using a full on rubber cowl just in case of reflections. I'm impressed. Bravo.
I feel like a titanium frame lock makes more sense for a salt knife. The new spidiechefs have the ceramic detent. After any time submerged in water the washers need to be relived. In a compression lock it won’t fall shut like compression locks do.a frame lock is more forgiving to close even if it’s not fully lubricated.
I hope they all aren't difficult to open up. Seems like a model made to resist rust, would be good to have open easily; gotta replace the oil that gets washed out after dropping it in the river.
Nick, for the benefit of your loyal followers, please address the lovely gal you share your life with as BRIDE rather than "fiancee". BTW, "Bride" may be used well into past the 40th anniversary without penalty.
@@JohnFrumFromAmerica I understand that. However, having worked with a wide range of epoxy, FRN, Grivory, etc engineering polymers during the last 40 years, I guarantee that you will still alter the thread channels permanently. This will lead to reduced surface area contact between the threads and the G10 thread channels.
@@mazepa-slavaukrayini932 what's your advice for a screw that has too much thread lock on it. I am only saying to do it once if the manufacturer has put too much on. Not to be doing this every week.
@@JohnFrumFromAmerica The best thing to do, as well as the safest, is to simply torque the screw SLOWLY forward and backwards many times until it loosens itself.
Hello! Can you help me on which Spyderco to buy between Kapara and Caribbean? I only have one chance to buy a good quality folder, for general use. Is these the best overall at max 260$? Any suggestion would be much appriciated
i bet you would be a great custom knife maker, If you had notion to be one. That Batman mask thing was funny. That's crazy funny we would have never known you had it on, unless the liners had been polished. i just find it funny you had it on all nonchalant, to continue tradition of keeping your face hidden. lol.
Nick, ive always wondered this: you love pourpose build knives, knives with one very specific job, made for a small niche of people. However, you seem to dislike super thick hardcore knives made for the few people that need an extremely strong folder for some reason. What gives? Is there a difference between pourpose build knives for hard use and lets say.. a pourpose build diving folder?
Great question. For me, though, the main purpose of a knife is to cut. There are overbuilt and beefy knives that cut (e.g. Spyderco Shaman, Demko AD-15). Those are appealing and appreciated. What bothers me are heavy, overbuilt knives which are so heavy and overbuilt that they cease to be functional tools. That, to me, makes it not a "specialized tool", but a bad one. As they're not good pry-bars, either! So, that's the difference. A great knife, made for the water, is great. But a poor knife doesn't become OK just because it's made while shouting "HIGH SPEED LOW DRAG".
The pivot mechanism sucks on this knife. In addition, the first one I received was missing a bronze washer. Customer Service at Spyderco was and is a nightmare. But back to the mechanism- it’s virtually impossible to dial it in properly- it’s either wobbling around with blade play or it’s too tight. Poor design, and the first crappy knife I’ve experienced coming out of the Taiwan factory.
Nick, do something, please! You know.... Proper nomenclature. Unless you have a fiancée and a wife at this point. Which is fine with me. No judgement. Whatever makes you happy man!
Chris Allison That's how I feel about Rc bladeworks bought horrible rit and finish Southard scales, literally got them in hand try to put them on they didn't fit requested a refund Denied......
Thick rubber Batman mask? I'd pay money to see that! Also, when's the review of that? The mask, not the knife. I mean, I want to see the knife review, but the mask review reigns preeminent.
Maybe a troll but I will say there are a few posts on spyderco forums about early LC200n Mules being prone to rust. I’d imagine that was a fluke though and if I remember correctly was looked at by Sal and Co.
I confirmed with Spyderco after this was filmed that the liners are LC200N and I am #notabrilliantman
Nick Shabazz ti was a good guess !!
Review the Gerber FlatIron I’m considering getting and I want your opinion on it
Easy Mods I can tell u rn he'll dislike it: 7Cr17MoV and too thick behind the edge.
Rodrigo Teresa You forgot its worst sin: being a Gerber
Easy Mods you seriously asking nick shabazz to review a gerber?

What's this from again it sounds so familiar and I'm drawing a blank.
From a short lived animated series called, “the critic” voiced by Jon Lovitz. It was a Schwarzenegger like action star that said it.
Thank you for another fantastic review. I just received my Caribbean (serrated) sheepsfoot blade today. It dwarfs my SpydieChef. Thing is super sharp. Carry on fine sir and good luck with the move
I have the plain edged leaf shape and it's become one of my most carried knives! Thanks for the look see.

I think Nick was stripping the frame screws a little bit because they’re actually T9’s, and not T8’s. 😉 Kinda surprised that he didn’t notice that.

Like if you want a PM2/Manix with solid yellow G10 scales, and LC200N blade, liners and screws
Get yourself a plastic trim removal set the plastic pry bars will save the finish on your knife.
Joseph Taylor Surprised he hasn't got one yet . More suprised more people havent recommended it to him.
wormsdroid yea seriously I thought I was a hack

I use the same!
I have this in my cart ready to buy depending on the review. I really like the looks of this.

I got the leaf bladed version, I freaking love this knife!
Nick at 8:30 you said fiance instead of wife, you're going to get slapped.Lol
thanks nick
Oh man, I can’t wait for the review on this one :)
The liners are lc200n
And the second stop pin is only for the closed position
The internal stop pin looks like it's the stop for the blade in the closed position.
Sweet! I was hoping you'd be doing a review on this big fella.

Imagine this with CF scales and some anodized Ti hardware 😍
Just admit it Nick - you like wearing the Batman mask.
It's in the salt section of the 2018 catalog. So yes, it is part of the salt series.

Alex Jacobs this review was probably filmed before he got married
SuperSteel Steve I believe that Nick is wearing a wedding ring, hence post wedding. Just giving poor Nick some - hopefully - minor grief.
Thread locker :(
Hey Nick, just placed an order last night for the KME Deluxe system from your review. Very excited to start maintaining my own edges.
I don't know why but this knife really speaks to me and not in the stab everyone type of way 😂😂😅
id love to have that
Man!! You are rough on that knife. Is it worth tearing it apart and maring the knife and stripping the torx?
I would be using a soldering iron on the screws to soften the thread locker. Also the week thread locker is good to stop screws ceasing
The elevated temperature employed by a soldering iron will definitely begin melting the perimeter of the epoxy -based G10. NOT a good idea…
@@mazepa-slavaukrayini932 you don't leave it on until it gets really hot. Just a couple of seconds to warm up the screw

Ive seen it in several vids but what screwdriver are you using the black and blue knurled handled version??? Thanks and as always entertaining vids
Spyderco has such good tolerances compared to benchmade

What Lubricant do you use? I love mine.
I need to know, why would reflective liners call for a Batman mask?
What torxtool are you using?
G'day nick, do you have any idea on the mantra 3 release date?
Nope, I have no insider information alas

Also There is no such thing as a hard use folder. If you want to beat up on a knife it had better be a fixed blade
Wow, even for a spyderco that thing is pretty fugly. Im sure its a champ cutter but aesthetically its not doing it for me.
Jose S my feelings exactly. Almost feel like we should get married, cause we think exactly the same
Only iron rusts.
id love to have that id use the heck out of that

Are the screws and stop pin also LC200N?
Rodrigo Teresa yes
Thread Lock Luv , Baby . A dab will do ya !
I can't believe Nick Shabazz didn't lube the detent and detent path! Shock Horror!
Liners are stainless steel. There is no mention of which steel. Common sense would suggest H1, LC200 or some form of Marine Stainless steel.
He said LC200N in an email.
Nick, do something, please! You know.... Proper nomenclature.

I’m so sad I just saw this. I screwed up both my bit (cheep) and my screws. Looks like I’ll be calling customer service
This is crying out for some nice custom scales. Too bad Ketchen turned into a thief. He could've made some magic here.
Chris Allison That's how I feel about Rc bladeworks bought horrible rit and finish Southard scales, literally got them in hand try to put them on they didn't fit requested a refund Denied......
Dude your wife sketches and watches outlander? Pretty sure you’re married to my wife.
Was anyone from the 80's hair/Christian metal band Stryper involved in the design of this knife? #yellowandblackattack

Nice try, but I’ve said that sentence before.
Much more comfortable not wearing a thick rubber Batman mask... WHILE IT'S 94 DEGREES WITH 70% HUMIDITY!!!
Nick throw away the mask come out of the closet, no need to hide anymore, your followers love you, you're well respected in the knife community.
Odd fetish that random bat man mask thing.
You arn't wearing yours?
Ah, $pyderco's baby-soft hardware strike again!
Jesus Christ man. Take your time so you don’t strip the screws like you just did
Yeah i think I'm gonna skip this one
DISASTER!
Did you get a divorce and engaged again? You dog.
Hah. Did I call her the Fiancée while wearing a ring? Nice.
Nick Shabazz haha just giving you a hard time. Congratulations on finding the one!! Wishing you both long happy lives :)
Rusty steel. Dont buy
convex uh, what?
