Rit Dye? You sir, are a monster. Great review though. And really did do a good job on the color change, I'm just a fan of the bee stripes, definitely want a Caribbean.
I liked the video! Good information. Shows you really used/carried the knife. Also...love the mods! I have a Native Salt and since seeing your videos on/with it i am thinking about dying the scales
I won the fully serrated version from a knifeworks giveaway. I'm not a fan of serrations but I'm not going to complain. I have carried the knife a few times and it does what it's supposed to do. I like the steel so far but I'd love to own a plain edge version.
I’m not a big fan of serrations either, but I love that this knife is zero maintenance. And the plain edge makes for easy sharpening 😎 you could always get LC200N on a different model with a plain edge 😏
@@inkiron3907 it arrived a couple days ago actually and I’ve loved it. On a side note the action on mine is significantly better then you described it in the video so I suspect that was just a one off quirk of the one you got
Awesome review! I would agree with you with the side to side play but I. Just got a para 3 in k390 and it absolutely has zero play and I mean I torque on it even when open and lock disengagement. Very happy with my para3. I have always was able to squeeze out the small amount of play in my pm2. I ended up selling my pm2s tho. Love your vids pls keep em coming
Great review. You got the knife for great price. I wonder how many other Caribbean knives have chipped due to the thong hole? That seems like a serious design flaw or defect with this particular knife. Love the green scales.
Yeah it’s a definite design weakness. I imagine most of them never touch the lanyard tube, but some certainly do 🤷🏽♂️ the green works so much better for me than the yellow 😁 thanks for watching
Highly recommended. Comes in Leaf shape as well. And both shapes have full serrated versions... it offers some options. I’ll mention that kind of thing in future videos 👍
Great review. In your opinion, if you could choose the blade for this knife in either sheepsfoot or leaf shape which way would you go for best all around flexibility of use? Thanks!
3mm round diamond file. I have an old video where I show how to do it by hand (if need be) but I would start the notch with a dremel metal cutting wheel nowadays, and finish with the file
Nice review. I have the leaf point and it has same problem with action and lock up. Really disappointing. If there is any pressure on the scales it binds the pivot and will not drop shut smoothly like a pm2. Also the detent is week and does not inspire confidence in staying closed and hinders ability to flick open smoothly. Really nice fit and finish but extremely lacking in function. I like this knife and ergos are fantastic but definitely wish it was executed better.
My action improved significantly using Tuf-Glide. It’s the only lube that made a difference for my Caribbean so far. Almost drops shut now. Yeah detent is a bit weak but mine isn’t messing up the opening, but that’s good to know it’s possible
Aquamarine, a standard RIT Dye. Took 2 hours! I would recommend a RIT “Dyemore” dye instead as it should speed the dye process. I have a video about dying this knife as well as a Native 5 with various techniques
Benjo is Japanese for toilet, so why would you call yourself that?!? Kidding aside, I originally bought the leaf shape when this came out and just recently bought the sheepsfoot and I like them both for different reasons. I dyed my origonal one with red Ritz giving it an orange & black pattern & it looks pretty cool. Not sure if I'll dye this one.
Also what annoys me about the Spyderco Caribbean is that it has a small lanyard hole when this knife was specifically designed to be used on a boat in the middle of the ocean or a lake. This is the exact type of knife that you would want to be able to use a 550 paracord lanyard with to keep yourself from dropping the Caribbean over the side of a boat!!! But then Spyderco decides to put an obnoxiously large lanyard hole on the Paramilitary 3, a knife in which most people won't even be attaching a lanyard with!!!
@@inkiron3907 Because Spyderco always adds a lanyard hole on all of their knives, it can cause several annoying issues. Issues such as the pocket clip being placed in an odd/weird place or even being canted. The lanyard hole can also make the placement of the pocket clip itself causes the knife to have very high carry with a lot of the handle sticking out of your pants pocket!!! Also, Spyderco is known for taking smaller knives and adding very annoyingly long pocket clips that are set up for high carry(Spyderco Brouwer/Reinhold Rhino). In my personal experience, I find myself replacing the pocket clips on Spydercos more than any other knife brand(MXG Gear titanium deep carry)!!!

Sure do love mine. I have had nothing but good experiences with it.I use mine a lot for food prep.
Thanks for your experience. Sounds like you’ve embraced the rust-free lifestyle 😎
I'd your jamaican you'll love the yellow. I'm glad to see that I can add some green to it with the dye you used. looks nice.
Thanks! I think the yellow is practical, but I prefer this green color 👍

Very comprehensive review, nicely done!
Thanks!
Damn the changes you've done to this knife look great. Super jealous of the 40 buck deal lol. I bought mine full price waiting for it to get here.
Thanks! It really was a steal of a deal. I hope you like yours when it arrives

I have noticed it’s difficult to over-tighten the PM2. It really retains good action. Thanks for watching!
Would you prefer the new Native Chief lightweight Salt in LC200N or Magnacut? How about the LC200N green Pacific Salt 2?
Was looking for some commentary on the weak detent in this video…

I wasn’t into the knife until you said the deal you got it for at 40 bux as a defect.
I got VERY lucky. If I ever see another deal like that I’ll grab the knife and probably give it away on the channel!
Mine works flawlessly.
Good to know. Might be one reason this one was a Seconds!
Wow, extremely good deal!
I know 😁 I may never find another like it!
This one really intrigues me.

Both are good, but I would probably suggest lead shape over sheep’s foot. A prominent tip is quite useful
@@inkiron3907 Thanks!

Could you have dyed it all black? I know nothing about dying G-10.
I think black would be fine. G10 is mostly a tough plastic mixed with fine glass fibers for added strength. The plastic is what takes up the dye
@@inkiron3907 I read a comment somewhere and they said that it’s just on the surface with G10 and that it’s not absorbed. Thoughts?

That looks sweet
Thank you, the dye process was tricky but the result was worth it 👍
Ink&Iron I think so. I want a spyderco
that looks as good as that

So true... honestly, 90% of Spyderco knives won’t see a lanyard. It’s my experience from all the people I’ve met who carry them
