My Favorite steakhouse is Lowake inn in Rowena TX just south of Ballinger I've eaten there since 1979 you can pick your steak thickness and cut they have them in a display case great west TX atmosphere. I would put there steaks up against any in TX.
Great looking steaks, all. The chicken fried steak gets gravy as well as the mashed potatoes, just sayin'. Texas guy. You can even dip the french fries in the gravy... Hope to see you cook again,
There are three sections to a ribeye. The ribcap, which has tons of flavor, the center (usually round) which is the leanest, and the tip. The ribeye is one of the tastiest chunks of meat on a cow. You done good getting the steaks you did. These were worthy steaks. The ribeye is usually the second most expensive and the second most tender cut of steak. The filet mignon (tenderloin) is the main cut. It doesn't have the flavor of a ribeye though.
It's actually very easy to cook a tomahawk properly. It's so thick that you can time it easily. It's much harder to get a thin steak to medium rare. There's such a small window for success.
When you get back home you have to review the local places you tried before and rate them on how close them come to authentic Texas BBQ. You can give them your seal of approval.
When Mrs. H said you normally get sauces with your steaks in the UK, I was thinking "Oh no - they must not be great steaks". Glad you could try a steak that doesn't need it!
Three things improve meats. Sauces, rubs, and marinades. For the steaks, the sauce is that compound butter. It compliments the flavor without overpowering it like A-1 sauce or something. If it's a bad steak you need to cover it in chemicals or just plaster it with ketchup. Fun fact: If you ever get an Applebees Bourbon Street Steak, get a side of honey mustard. It tastes at least 50% better if you dip it. Trust me. One dip and you're hooked.
@@protorhinocerator142 I ADORE their Bourbon Street Steak. I usually get honey mustard sauce with my Ceasar salad (I know, I'm weird, but I like to mix the dressings on my salad), so I'll have to try that. Of course, that steak really needs no sauce. It's fantastic as it is.
My family is one of the families that walked from Indianola, Tx to New Braunfels, TX and later built Fredericksburg. If you tore the history and heritage site there in Fredericksburg, you saw small cottages called Sunday houses. When I was very little, my aunt still lived in one. The ranch and family farm was too far away by wagon to make it to church every week, so they build small homes, arrived in Saturday so they could attend church in Sunday

Just a little dining tip: If you are in Texas and you want something healthy, the vegetables are usually the wrong choice. Note: that goes for most of the other Southern states as well, as veggies are mearly a tool we use to sop up our bacon grease.
Both the same cut, One with the rib bone, one without. Angus beef is the big strain of cattle now, but it used to be Longhorn. You should try them both.
5:39 "the best steak I have ever had in my life.." One heck of a statement when the dude just ate at Goldee's! Texas Tomahawk is on a different level of universe.

y'all scared me for a second mentioning steak sauce cus if seasoned & cooked properly then theres no need for steak sauce since it'll be perfectly juicy & flavorful on its own especially a tomahawk cus the bone makes it that much better....the only thing you would need for it to be extra is some carmelized onions & mushrooms & steak butter on top....btw I'm going to get me some prime rib at one of the casinos right now

Missouri, I really like all of your families videos.
Thank you so much
Born and raised here in Houston Texas, glad yall enjoyed your time here!! The H family is always welcome here!! ❤
Texas here. Welcome to this great state
Hello from GEORGIA!
Baby H is getting big. Love watching that kid grow up.
Living in the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised in the south. So missing the food right now. ❤
Texas, born and raised, plus cooking is my passion.
Just a little dining tip: If you are in Texas and you want something healthy, the vegetables are usually the wrong choice.
Note: that goes for most of the other Southern states as well, as veggies are mearly a tool we use to sop up our bacon grease.
9:03 I've lived in Texas for 22 years and that's EXACTLY how I eat a tomahawk steak!! xD
Both the same cut, One with the rib bone, one without. Angus beef is the big strain of cattle now, but it used to be Longhorn. You should try them both.
Congrats on 100K!
Texas ♥️
"Yeah, I am", a wonderful moment.
Next time to the states visit Gatlinburg TN. It's in the Great Smoky Mtns
Ribeye on the grill is pure HEAVEN!
Love From Michigan, and it's a cold and snowy.
Please keep it there.😂😂
5:39 "the best steak I have ever had in my life.." One heck of a statement when the dude just ate at Goldee's! Texas Tomahawk is on a different level of universe.
Talk about food envy!! I'm eating a Hot Pocket, watching you gorge on that gorgeous Tomahawk. Droooooool.
And baby H takes over the video again!😂 Makes me think back in the ye olde days when my daughter was that age.
From the small world perspective I almost ate there the Thursday before they were there, I came so close as to reading the menu in the window before walking around the corner and eating at the brewery instead.
Ribeye the best cut hands down
FALSE
I am a chef and a butcher and ribeye is one of the better Cuts but it is not the best cut of beef
I love watching MR and Mrs H
His reaction to the first bite was visceral, across the webs! I tasted that. Hard to remember my first bite like that, but pleased you will remember yours!
Proud Texan! Thank you for visiting!
Congratulations on 100k
Mr H is a true "just shovel it" enjoyer 🙏
Steak taste better using your hands anyway Mr. H. Btw welcome to my state of Texas. Best state in these United States of America. God bless Texas!
Adorable Brits. Really!
You do you. Don't worry about picking up your steak and biting it. You'll always have haters anywhere you go. But when you're on vacation and you're trying new to you food you do you. I hope you all enjoyed America.
Fredericksburg is a lovely town , we live about 2.5 hours away , we'll be there next weekend
Hope you enjoy yourselves
I love watching y’all try new foods. You’re always so childlike and happy❤️🤗🐝
y'all scared me for a second mentioning steak sauce cus if seasoned & cooked properly then theres no need for steak sauce since it'll be perfectly juicy & flavorful on its own especially a tomahawk cus the bone makes it that much better....the only thing you would need for it to be extra is some carmelized onions & mushrooms & steak butter on top....btw I'm going to get me some prime rib at one of the casinos right now
How do you eat a tomahawk? Like you'd eat an elephant, one bite at a time! 🤣
Fredericksburg is my favorite place! Cimmeron, or Texas Jacks gun shop is down the street…another favorite. Luckenbach is not that far away either. I’m a native Texan (family all over, ancestors fought with Houston back to Republic days), now living in coastal Southern California. I visit family often…enjoy your visit!
I am sort of new to your channel and have been going back to older videos to 'get to know you' so to speak. Really enjoying all of them. And I am amazed at how well your little girl eats! She tries everything!
