I've never had southern barbecue! But I'm in PA and that's a loooooooong way from TX. I spent a summer in El Paso when I was a teen, with my young married sister and her husband and daughter. They were a poor soldier's family so we didn't eat out at all, and when my parents were there at the start and finish of my time there, we just went or steak. Which was wonderful, of course, but I feel as though I missed something fantastic. Great to watch you guys enjoying it, though, even if you do keep saying it's on our doorstep. We're 1500 miles away, for goodness' sake! :) Alana is so adorable, and so good. Not at all disruptive and just keeps herself happy.
I live in Pennsylvania and I don't crave Texas barbecue at all since I'm a huge Seafood lover, if anything I crave Maine lobster tails and sea scallops and snow crab legs. I was in Texas twice didn't even think about barbecue but went to a great Texas Steakhouse and had a fantastic steak. Sometimes I crave a good Philly cheesesteak😂
I’m from Texas, but lived in PA for a couple years. Bbq, and specifically Terry Blacks, and one other were the restaurants I missed most. I lived about 30 minutes from Philly. There was amazing food, and some of the best steaks I’ve ever had. I still randomly think about Barclay Prime, and Urban Farmer, but man, I missed bbq so much. I highly suggest a trip to Austin. It is such a cool city. So much to see, so much to do, and so much to eat.
@@jeffhampton2767 Maine lobster!! Oh wow. My best friend had family Vinalhaven, ME and she spent all her summers there, growing up, and even after she married, they went every year while their boys were still at home as they were a boating family. And of course, the family began to die out, those that were left on the island. Last time she was there was to settle her uncle's estate, at least 20 years ago. But she told me before I'd ever gone to Maine, that she absolutely will not eat lobster, especially, but really, any seafood, away from Maine. After having spent a week up there with my husband several years ago, I'm in full agreement. It's just so much better - like a different thing all together, eating lobster on the coast of Maine. My husband has never been more adventurous than a piece of haddock, but in Bar Harbor I was going bananas over a lobster roll and he had to try it. He was convinced! BTW, I'm near Williamsport but over the years have spent a good bit of time in Philadelphia. We have our own cheesesteaks here and having grown up on those, a Philly cheesesteak just doesn't cut it for me. Did you know that subs in general are made in a unique, rather famous way in Williamsport? A friend lived in OK for a few years and not long before her husband's deployment there was over, they came across a sub shop (a SUB SHOP) that billed itself as making subs like they make 'em in Williamsport, PA. She said they were good. Not quite like we get here (there's a particular bakery in town that makes most of the rolls for all the sub shops in town) but good. :)

"Turkey can be dry". Yes, it usually is because most people insist on over cooking it to death. Most bbq places only cook the breast. I spatchcock them when I cook them at home. It's done in nearly half the time compared to cooking the whole bird. Stays nice and juicy.

The pickles are there to make a brisket sandwich. Plain white bread, onions, pickles and some wet cut brisket. Some like a little BBQ sauce on it as well.
@@chalando6124 You obviously dont live in Texas. Or if you do you just showed up. If you live in Texas and go to BBQ joints you'd know that they all serve onions, pickles and white bread. Having lived in Texas for 58 years and BBQed for 38 of those years as well as BBQing in competitions for four of those years I have a pretty good grasp as to how to BBQ properly and what to serve with it.
Just had a flashback to Mr. H trying to BBQ in his backyard...about 3 years ago. Big difference :)

"Turkey can be dry". Yes, it usually is because most people insist on over cooking it to death. Most bbq places only cook the breast. I spatchcock them when I cook them at home. It's done in nearly half the time compared to cooking the whole bird. Stays nice and juicy.
She’s grown up so fast, I miss the , Momma, “insert Freddie Mercury here” I love the post production and all of the efforts you all go through to make such great content for us subscribers
Thank Y'all for coming to Texas. Glad you enjoyed all the BBQ places. Be safe on your trip home God Bless y'all.

Happiness and health to you, your family, and your followers this new year
The little one knew the assignment lol No talk. Just eat! lol
I really want my princess to be like urs. Watching her munching herself is so adorable.
The pickles are there to make a brisket sandwich.
Plain white bread, onions, pickles and some wet cut brisket.
Some like a little BBQ sauce on it as well.
I always personally felt the pickles were some what of a pallet cleanser personally. But ya go head n make a sandwich lol

You obviously dont live in Texas.
Stop and think about it....why else would they serve bread, pickles and onions?
Your review is great but the baby is the real gem of the vid!!!
I’m glad to hear you guys enjoyed Texas bbq 🍗 The state I was born in!
The little one was a hoot to watch. 😂
Y'all are welcome back in Texas anytime. We'll leave the light on for you. 🥰
So glad you made it to Terry Blacks. My favorite to get. I live just outside Austin for 27 years.
Your good natured daughter steals the show!
Y'all have fun. We love y'all. From Georgia
Hahhahhahahah the baby speaking! She says it all 😂
Baby H is the only one using a fork ..... so cute !
The Brisket on the Bone is always the Juciest as it gets the most Moisture. ( Its Exquisite !!! )
Oh yeah, man. Terry Black's has got the good stuff. We hit 'em up when we're down thataway.
We can get our son-in-law to smoke those up for us, but if you want just a meal, it's a treat. We go straight to the brisket and ribs.
So many amazing bbq joints
Speaking of JOLLY. You totally need to collaborate.
The baby is chowing down! LOL!
My youngest of nine just got out of the Marine Corps, and is going to college in Austin. I’m planning to visit him this spring, because we really want to watch the upcoming eclipse together. We are also doing our own version of a Diners, Drive Ins and Dives episode, by having our own little foodie road trip.
Number 1 smokey pitstop on the list? Terry Black’s BBQ! Y’all already have my mouth watering, big time, lol!!! A heartfelt thanks in advance for so graciously sharing your adventures.
Love y’all’s content, reactions, and truly tender hearts all the time. 🫶🏻
