Your love of Ranch dressing reaches a level of true American passion
It's so good. lol
Good freshly made ranch is so addictive ha. Can’t stand the bottled stuff after you get the GOOD ranch.
My brother, GOD rest his soul, used to make fresh Ranch dressing back in the early 1980's before the dressing came to our area in the bottle. It was GREAT!
As a kiwi myself visiting the states earlier in the year the best ranch I tried was in Chicago at Lou Malnati's... Celery never tasted so good! lol
My wife makes a ranch dressing that's to die for.
The REASON marionberries primarily grow in Oregon is because they were 'invented' here. Marionberries are a variety of blackberry or black raspberry. They were crossbreed as a new variety here in Oregon and became an instant hit. Now, you know why!
They're everywhere from Northern California to the Canadian border now
I always butter the sourdough tops
OK that makes sense, I'm from the States but I've never heard of marionberries (unless they were the mayor of DC), But I've never been north of Eureka on the West Coast. Thanks for the knowledge.
@@paulbrickler Too good- Marian Berry...😄
It must be a coastal thing. Whenever I'm back home in Eugene, I don't go out too much.
Thought you might enjoy this little fact: I am a retired 20-year veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. My wife of 43 years is Korean, born and raised. For entertainment, she only watches Korean programming. She never watches TV or movies with me... except for your videos. I've been watching since the first time you tried grilled cheese sandwiches. Recently, when I was watching the first video on your U.S. RV tour, she happened to see it and stopped and asked what I was watching. I told her a little bit about your channel. Intrigued, she sat down and watched with me. Now she watches every episode with me, and asks me every day if there is a new one. We both thoroughly enjoy them. Thank you for doing what you do. It brought my wife and I just a little bit closer than we already were.
That's pretty incredible and sweet. I enjoy your Love story and yes having a show or two that you share together can being you two even closer. Always nice to have separate interest but a pretty good feeling to share some together, I'm so happy this family did this for you and I definitely see how and why they did. I love watching them ❤
As a kid I was yelled at constantly, "Brian, don't play with your food." Here are two parents encouraging trying new things. Atlanta goes for broke, dips the french fry into the clam chowder, and mom and pop says she "leveled up." Instead of berating her, she is praised for her ingenuity. Good on you. Love the channel.
Just wait till they try fries in a frosty from Wendy's
@@JacobMcG64 Yaaas! The ULTIMATE fry dip!
Reading that I pictured it in my head and as they smash it, the heavens open up, the clouds parting as the Family is washed in sunshine, Lee Greenwood appears singing "I'm Proud to be an American" and President Trump rolls up in a Tesla Cyber Truck with Joe Rogan, RFK, Tulsi Gabbard, and Elon and hands them all new US passports as they instantly become "Your New Zealand-American Family".@@JacobMcG64 🤠😎
Your videos specifically about America makes us from the U.S. really appreciate what we’ve got 💯🙏🇺🇸🇳🇿
Really think the success of this family and their channel isn't so much due to the types of content they show but in my opinion is everyone's personality.
I tell you for me I can watch them pretty much cover or do anything. They just make me feel good. Great family. Wish them well in everything they do.
Yes ❤
@@gilbertspader7974 100% agree!
Because they have that wholesome feel that is pretty fast vanishing these says
👍🏼👍🏼🙏❤️💯
Wow Randall, thankyou so much for that beautiful comment! We so appreciate your support and kind words ❤
So proud of seeing your family enjoy my home state. Love from another Oregonian
So nice to see you try a real restaurant and not just fast food chains. I feel like the rest of the world thinks America is just all fast food, but we have really amazing individually owned restaurants with outstanding real food. I look at fast food as being the lowest rung on the ladder here. Hardly worth the money.
1000 percent agree!!
Fast Food is when you are in a hurry, have to get some where, traveling or when you just have no time. Real restaurants are for family, for love, great food and time enjoyment
Clam chowder is silky and luscious with a mild flavour that packs a punch. It is not fishy. It is soooo good !
Dang only 10 days into 10 weeks good to know a ton of content from the trip is still to come!!
You visited the Chowder Bowl in Nye Beach!
That's been our coast holiday lunch spot for over twenty years now. Even when we're not staying anywhere near Newport, we always have to stop there anyway on our drive down the coast, because it's such a tradition that it just doesn't feel right without at least one visit to the Chowder Bowl. Just seeing the image in my sidebar gave me an enormous grin.
I was in Newport about 4 months ago. I'm a truck driver. I'm half Samoan and getting ready to retire. So pleasant to see your family enjoying yourselves. Please be safe. GOD bless you all. Thank you for posting!
Heard Oregon has a fairly big Samoan population compared to other states.
Even knowing your family is quite literally from an island culture, I love that you are giving the PNW seafood a try. We pride ourselves on fresh, delicious, local fare.
I can co-sign that. PNW seafood is the first thing I always mention to people who express an interest in visiting.
@@WhatKindOfNameNow Can't get Dungeness anywhere else!
Love your channel! So glad you made it to Oregon, my home. You REALLY lucked out with the weather....when it happens, its glorious. Oregonians usually wear a jacket with a hood...when the sun comes out..we run outside! Safe travels!
Absolutely love how you all share just passing dishes down, what an awesome family adventure!
Exactly - the sharing and the (mostly) mmm expressions (not everyone liked everything-acceptable) was legend. I like clam chowder - especially when it's done right. I've had a few that made me ask if there were any clams in this lumpy flower soup.....
Yes, no waste, like on other channels, where they order one of everything and eat half of each
That was me and my siblings every time we went anywhere for dinner, i love trying new foods lol
@CreatorInTrng imo clam chowder needs huge chunks of clam, like it's supposed to be hearty let me use my teeth lol
@@ConstantChaos1 Absolutely, chunky pieces of clams - but not gooey lumps of flour (I think I misspelled flour in my first post.)
I'm so glad you got a chance to go to Oregon, where I live. I hope you enjoyed your time here.
I'm just glad they went somewhere besides Mo's
@@scotthuish67 That's the most accurate statement lol.
I grew up on homemade clam chowder. Dug up the clams myself. This makes me so happy to see! Love your adventures!
How cool!!!
I'm a lifelong Oregonian and have enjoyed the Chowder Bowl in Nye Beach since the early 80's. Hands down the best on the west coast. And that's not just nostalgia speaking. I'm so thrilled watching your adventures through my part of this magnificent country. Thank you for sharing something you and your kids will remember for the rest of your lives. ❤
That's my opinion as well. I know I'll be back early winter for the Sea Lion Caves in Florence but without a doubt we'll eat at the Chowder Bowl and crab and, well, I think it's actually called Crab!
Hello Jon, I have a question ... is the Huckleberry shakes also just an Oregonian thing? Several years ago I was out there visiting Medford and I fell in love with those shakes, the cinnamon roll French toast, Dutch Bros coffee stands, The Oregon Vortex House Of Mystery, the waterfall tour around Crater Lake and Jasper's Cafe!!
Hey guys, I've tried New England clam chowder and love it!!! My son is on the spectrum and he's BIG on textures and flavors, he recently tried clam chowder and loved it!!! I've heard of Marionberries, although I've never tried them, they sound delicious though. I love how you share your cultural experiences with the whole fam, it's great to see. Thanks again and I look forward to seeing more of your journey.
There’s also a Manhattan clam clowder which is red in flavor and way different.
Clam chowder is one my favorite things in the world. I'm allergic to crustaceans(shrimp, crab, lobster) But not mollusks (clam, oysters, scallop etc) so it always feels like I'm getting away with something when I eat it.
Btw, great job mom and dad for making these tremendous memories possible for the kiddos
That *is* a shame, as the best thing about my Oregon coast is...Dungeness crab. Although Pacific scallops are second. I'm betting the family tried neither. now *that* is a shame.
@@mescko Dungeness crab is only in season from November-December to April-June, depending on specific yearly conditions. I didn't catch when these folks were in Oregon, but there'd be little point in ordering it out of season. It probably wouldn't even appear on the menu at better restaurants, and ordering it at those places that do keep it on the menu year 'round, you'd still only be getting it frozen. Not much point in that.
I agree, though, that it's spectacular in season.
Ah my home state of 27 years! I love Oregon and am so happy you guys like it. Mo's is the best clam chowder ever, lots to do on the coast!!!! Oregon is truly beautiful!!
Jake I have to leave ore due to the rapid barometric pressure changes making me ill! Plus the drug decriminalization has endangered my life ! I'm leaving my native state hoping to start over in another country due to trump co ! I'm sorry to leave my native state!
MO’s is the best!!!
Marionberries grow in Oregon primarily.
Because they are a hybrid named for Marion County. Much like Boysenberries are named for Boise.
Marionberries were developed as OSU in Corvallis! They’re wonderful!
Boysenberries!
I thought they where poison berries and never Tried them !
They grow all over western Washington too. I have them growing in my back yard and I'm 100 miles north of the Oregon/Washington border
I had some in Cambria in California.
I'm so glad you guys got the chance to visit Oregon and finally taste marionberry! Newport is one of my favorite coastal towns in Oregon to visit and it's awesome that you had such nice weather when you visited :)
This is a special one for me... loved going to the Chowder Bowl with my Grandparents. Newport is little known gem. Thank you for bring back the memories.
This is more like "New Zealand Piranha Family try Clam Chowder & Marionberry for the first time"! Yum, Yum, Yum, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! This was hilarious to watch! That restaurant should have sponsored the video. You guys made me want to drive from Kentucky just to try that food.
We love that restaurant! Amazing food! The "chips" are amazing. I love that people are recognizing you guys. 😀
I grew up in Oregon, and have been to the chowder bowl many times. I live in Hawaii now, but when I go back to visit family, the chowder bowl is still one of my favorites.
When Nadine popped up at the thought of the fry in the chowder and Denzie giggled at the desserts, my kids and I lost it. Love y'all's enthusiasm.
This is another successful video because you left me smiling, happy, hungry and a wee bit jealous. 😊😅 I can't say it enough that I'm so pleased & proud that y'all had such a good time here.
It's great to see people try and enjoy something new
When you go to Seattle try the Ivar’s clam chowder, Pike street market. Also, when you get back home Atlanta should make a pot of “Fall River” clam chowder.
After watching each video where you all rate the food, the one thing that always cracks me up is that I long for it. So, with that in mind, I will make clam chowder from scratch today. Lucky me has to go shopping anyway so now I know what to cook tonight.
This happens to me every Monday and Friday, with the Irish. They wind up trying something that I usually don't eat like pizza or some sort of chips and that's all I want, because their videos come out at dinner time😅
Marionberry is a hybrid of blackberry and raspberry, very much regional.
They aren't directly, they are a crazy lineage of various blackberries. A Marion berry is a cross between Chehalem and Olallie black berries, those berries are hybridized logan berries... anyway there are 14 berries in their lineage and one in the second generation is a raspberry.
@@Lightningrod75
How's the taste difference between those and Boysenberries?
For many years my wife and I would travel to the Oregon Coast just for the cannon-ball-bowl of clam chowder with bay shrimp on top. Then one day my wife developed an allergy to shellfish and I developed an allergy to potato. Now they are just a pleasant memory. I am so glad to see your family enjoying local cuisine.
This family is so wholesome ❤ love the travel series.
Clam chowder is awesome in Massachusetts. Come visit !
I absolutely second this! Gottta try Clam Chowder from either the Cape or somewhere on the water in Boston!
The Back Bay Hilton in Boston, great Chowder...
Our only child (he is 35) moved from Michigan to Massachusetts 8 months ago and we miss him bigger than the universe. We are planning on visiting for Christmas. He lives about an hour from Boston proper. @bdaoust2007 can you give us any tips on places to see and stay? He has roomies in MA and I offered to make Christmas dinner at his place and wow I was shot down, I think it is a bachelor pad and he does not want us over other than to honk from the driveway, moving right along so I am wanting a place I can cook and have him and his roomies over for Christmas Day dinner. Any ideas where to stay? He is in a town called Fitchburg. Many thanks.
Chowda lol
Legal Seafoods was my go to place for clam chowder back in the day when I was a student in Boston. I wonder if it is still there.
I love the Oregon Coast so much. The little towns are perfect. The scenery is ridiculous! Clam Chowder is a very hearty, warm dish and perfect for that area.
This is a video like all the others that you can't help but smile watching, especially seeing genuine reactions to all the different foods available across the land is fun too.
It is always a pleasure watching your family enjoy yourselves. You are always so real, funny & love to have a good time. It is good to see all of you enjoy whatever it is that you are doing. So, glad to see you in Oregon. It is a lovely state & laid back & very kind. Shine on!
Awwwww man thankyou SO much! Thanks for being here and supporting, we love you!
I was lucky enough to live in Oregon during the fall when the marionberries ripened. There's a little town on the coast called Garibaldi and I'd go there almost every weekend to pick marionberries and go crabbing on their amazing pier. You can rent the crab traps there and catch SO much fresh dungeoness crab for dinner. Marionberries grew wild along the train tracks and they were so prevalent, my sister and I had marionberry fights--slinging the berries at each other; the results were similar to paintball and we'd both be 75% purple at the end! I wish I could say we were children when we did this but we were mid/late 20s. :D
I was just going to suggest they go crabbing but of course this was months ago!
I've said it before, but your videos are the best on youtube, I look forward to every one of them, Really good Quality entertainment for everyone, Thank you guys!!
Totally agree.
Ya'll are refreshing. Love your family! God bless and hope you don't stop 🙂🇺🇲
Newport is beautiful! I am so happy you were able to get there.
This is seriously the most wholesome family on youtube ive ever seen and ive been watching since the football reactions from Sam. I really hope i get to meet your amazing family one day! Much love from a big and long term fan from the Capital of Florida!
Awww!!! I love Newport!
This Family Vacay makes me irrationally happy... God Bless You NZ Family!.. Can't wait for the next video. I mentioned it before , I SOOOO want you to do a similar RV trip here in Canada. Either an East Coast run (Toronto --> P.E.I. or Newfoundland) or a West Coast Run (Calgary ---> Northern BC....Maybe even Yukon!).
You new found love of ranch makes you guys true Americans
Marionberries were 1st created by Oregon State University by Prof. George Waldo and Named for the county they were first grown in. They are the BEST!!! (Marion Berry yougart is my fave!) SO glad you are shining a light on our beautiful Oregon....but you MUST come back for the major parts of Oregon you missed! 😉
Your whole family is Awesome . I watch every episode that I can and never am disappointed . Thank you guys
My favorite seafood has always been lobster bisque.
Make it with Dungeness crab and level up - it's better than lobster IMO.
Love clam chowder. New England style, Manhattan style and west coast.
You guys are so jazzed about the food. Love it. Everything you had is total soul food to most of our country. They are all staples
Maybe the chowder is more coastal . Midwest; clam chowder isn't really a big thing.
I'm so glad you got to enjoy my area on a sunny day! I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your visit!
So happy for you having a great time in my home state. ]
Potato bacon soup with fried onion in, can be as tempting as clam chowder when done well.
I agree! Kept thinking that chowder needed copped bacon on top.😋
It's taking me a lot longer than 19 minutes to watch this video because I keep pausing to comment because I don't wanna miss anything. 😊 Y'all just look so happy! I guess smiles ARE contagious. I haven't stopped since I hit play.
I enjoy good clam chowder....and yes, lots of clams on the coast there. Now the Merion Berry thing seems like a definite to do as well. Great video. Glad y'all are having such a great trip.
Marionberry is a cross breed of blackberry that was invented at Oregon State University in Corvallis in 1945. It really only grows in Oregon's climate. There is a very close hybrid that was created later using the boysenberry from Australia (Silvanberry) that has very similar qualities but can live in a much wider climate area. I believe you should be able to get and grow the Silvanberry in NZ as they love that costal temperate band.
Thank you. Had no idea on the marionberry.
Newport is the closest beach town to me. I love it there. 😊
Oh I love New England Clam Chowder!!! It is so good and such a comfort food!!!!😋
Thanks for bringing simple joy to our day. ❤
That restaurant and Mo's in Depoe Bay have been around forever and have been favorites of my family for years since I was a kid, I'm nearly 48 years old now. Absolutely amazing food at both places in both towns. This video made me realize that I am way over due for a weekend trip down there. It's actually been 21 years, and it's literally a 2-3 hour drive from where I live.
Sourdough is definitely the way to go with clam chowder. I don’t know what it is but there is something about the flavor combination that is otherworldly.
Friend of mine from New York taught me when I get clam chowder in a bowl to put some shredded cheddar cheese in the chowder. But I bet shrimp on top of all of that would be really good too! 🤤
ANOTHER FINE PRODUCTION! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

@yournewzealandfamily
Are you coming to Oklahoma? I would love to meet you all. I would love to cook for you all. Whitetail deer or catfish, maybe both...
Love the channel guys , thanks for inviting us along
Boston clam chowder is life changing though!!
I'm googling and trying to figure out what makes boston clam chowder different. I make my own clam chowder cuz I live in one of those clam-free countries. The Boston style recipes look just like mine, but with bacon.
@@LythaWausW
Boston Clam Chowder is different from Oregon Clam Chowder. I’ve eaten both and love both. I find that neither is Better! They are both great foods, especially after hours out on the cold sea coasts!
Everyone is switching dishes and Denzi is just enjoying his meal. You guy's crack me up.
I am not entirely sure what it is but She Crab soup is amazing. I lived in Florida and it was a seasonal dish at a local beach bar/restaurant, that restaurant was also covered by Guy Fieri’s show Triple D.
I grew up in Florida and Deviled Crab was the big thing growing. I'm told it's a lost art and they're not as common anymore.
The part of the southern coast between Charleston and Savannah has great she-crab soups at almost all the restaurants. Yum!
I love the saying "It doesn't look appetizing...but man it was good!" Hear that about a ton of the American foods I like, New England Clam Chowder, Biscuits and Gravy, Scrapple and so sooo many more!!
I live in Washington state...been to the Oregon coast many times. Nothing beats a good clam chowder in a sour dough bread bowl on a cold, foggy day !
It's good always...but....Something about eating it on the coast...makes it taste 100x better! Maybe it's the salty air?? ...IDK...lol
No one mentioned the music in the background as well. Would definitely visit this place! Outside, good food and good music.....yes please!
I've eaten chowder there and it is amazing!
I moved to Michigan from the Oregon coast, but I still order Marionberry every holidays from Oregon (it is a specialized blackberry)
I am so enjoying your adventure in the RV. I can’t wait until I see the next video.
I was gifted a jar of Marionberry once. Best jam I ever tasted.
This is the way. lol. Sourdough and chowder w. a crab cake is one of my favorite meals ever. Been waiting for this episode. Glad you enjoyed! Coastal Oregon is a great place for that, too. 💖
i was a teenager when i first tasted clam chowder and since then i love a big bowl of NEW ENGLAND clam chowder.
ooo shrimp on the clam chowder new level for me. and a Manhattan clam chowder with the red sauce is good
I'm making a ham grilled cheese for lunch and I'm watching videos I have this one on pause cuz I wanna wait until my food is ready then I can sit relax and enjoy I'm so excited!!! I can't wait!!! you guys do the travel vlogs SO WELL! like really well! you made it look like the travel channels and you really made sure to put effort into it and didn't do it half-heartedly you gave it your all and I love that! and you're really good at it! anyway back to my lunch see ya guys soon! I'm so giddy and excited!
That restaurant recommendation was spot on...something for everyone in the family. Notoriously picky Denzel didn't like the Clam Chowder and still gave a 9 out of 10 overall rating. So, that tells you how good the food was overall, This is not just a Clam Chowder spot.
I am a Washington State girl and I _love_ Marionberry. It's one of my most favorite things ever.
I did a Google search and apparently Clam chowder is available in NZ. America's Test kitchen is a fabulous show with the best recipes.
I always love your family’s reaction
I have never tried west coast clam chowder when I was out there. In New England its very common and every family has their own version. We usually enjoy best the kind mom made growing up.
Glad your enjoying eating your way up the west coast…I’m from Seattle can’t wait to see what u will be up to there.
ive been to the Chowder Bowl many times...great food ...looks like a beauty of day....cheers from Albany OR
I loved seeing you try the bread bowl clam chowder. It is totally nostalgic. Would love to see you guys go try it on a wharf. The one where I grew up you would walk down the wharf and get a free sample from each restaurant (maybe 5-7 samples) then go back to your favorite and get it in the bread bowl, each place tasted different for whatever preference you have. The best part is when you have finished the chowder, it has had time to soak the inside of the bread bowl and you rip that up. The sour dough soaked with that creamy chowder is SO good… yum, really brings me back. (queue scene of eating this on the end of the wharf watching the otters, the sunbathing seals, the calm lap of the waves and seagulls calling, and the crisp sea air in your face)
If bread pudding isn't done right it can come out very dry and grainy but if it's done properly, it really is like a creamy custard. From the looks of things, you got a good one. And something tells me that the berry dessert is hitting on all cylinders for you as well. I've had all the food that you've eaten but I haven't had bread pudding in a looong time and that Marion Berry dessert is making me a little jealous.
So happy that you enjoyed the clam chowder!
I took my Corgi and went there last summer with my sister, who lives in Lincoln City. Great atmosphere and food at the Chowder Bowl.
I love how you discovered the amazing pairing of chips (fries) and clam chowder. It's a fantastic combination!
Not me yelling "pass the chowder to me!" 😂 Seafood tacos are also yum, but I'm particularly a fan of chowder. 😊
New England-style Clam Cowder is essentially just Cream of Potato Soup with Clam chunks in it. And yes, it's not a fishy tasting soup, is it? The clams just kinda give it a heartier taste much like how sausage does in Sausage Gravy for Biscuits & Gravy.
You guys need to try the clam chowder in Seattle at Pike place Chowder. Award winning!
Restaurants in Oregon that are good tend to make their own ranch on site, using our local favorite herb, dillweed. I agree, it's even better than the normal stuff. Homemade kicks mass produced's butt!
You guys are in my neck of the country. So glad to see you guys enjoying the local delicacies. We also have world class big game hunting around here
Best summer sausage I've *ever* had was elk.
So glad your first experience with clam chowder was a good one! It’s so easy to mess it up! Great video!
I love Tabasco on any creamy soup (any soup really lol) and clam chowder BEGS for it! Wish you would have had some to put on it, Sam. So addictive! (And black pepper too, to be fair)
legit tears when you did the "This is the way" edit LOL We call them blackberries in PA
