The best, most useful channel I have ever viewed. I'm about to turn 44 and I am retiring from the navy this year. After 20+ years of dieting and maintaining my weight below 200 lbs at 6' tall, I'm embarking on a journey. I want to start powerlifting/strongman. I want to put in the time, food and training to get big, massive and strong. This channel is the first place I go to for learning the best practices. I know none of this will happen overnight but I'm driven and patient. Thanks Brian for the motivation you provide me.

My favorite "core" exercise are heavy squats-beltless. Seriously I have had to cut my squat session short because of how sore my abs were. That said I do like doing some russian twists or some oblique crunches, and leg raises, but these are all done at the end of a workout NOT as the main exercises. Great suggestions in this video Brian.

1:53 had me dead man. Also ab pushy out thingy is pretty cool but I think I'll have to do them when my gym is empty to avoid attention (my gyms really judgmental). I know you said yoke is powerful way to work the core so if you don't have that would walking around with a barbel in your back work? Or maybe walking around with the barbell overhead? Also have you tried the Otis up? And the band twisty thingy as you called it I honk they're called woodchops

Hey Brian, I don't totally agree with what you say about the crunching movements. I mean if you do some rows, it doesn't ingrain the movement so much that when you go to bench you pull the bar into your chest and break all your ribs.... If your ab muscles are tight and sore (and in the long term if they actually get shorter) that could impact your squats, DLs etc. but I think that can be avoided with some sensible programming and stretching. And I think that "crunch strength" can be useful especially in overhead movements. Anyway I do appreciate the video, I got some ideas from it :)

Nice man, rock solid advices I was looking for. I'll implement 70% of those excercises into my ab work( 30% already doing % 😅 ) and next week starting with overhead day on cube method as well as testing it with my friends with different variations. Thanks brother 💪

Dragon flags suck. Ab roll outs suck. However, increasing ab strength has helped my lifts a lot. Bruce Lee is awesome :) Im still at the floor level windshield wipers. Awesome ab ideas! Im always looking for more. The twisty bandy things look like sooo much fun!

since I can't comment on the other video, I'll drop it here. my girl knows I want a neversate hoodie for Christmas, plus my two fave RUclips strongmen in the same place? thanks, Santa!

Ab wheel before heavy lifting? respect. I use the ab wheel to pretty much kill my abs off after lifting. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to lift heavy after the ab wheel.
