    I understand that this channel caters mostly towards strongman and some other strength sports training, but can you maybe make a video or two on resistance training for combat sports? I'm sure your vast experience in MMA can be very valuable as well. I'm primarily a strength athlete, dabbling in both powerlifting and strongman, but sometimes I do Muay Thai (mainly as a conditioning tool as I hate regular cardio), and I would like to improve my explosiveness and balance for that as well. Thank you very much for providing us with quality content as always.

    • @peterramos5832
      @peterramos5832 5 лет назад +8

      I second this!! I do muay thai and brazilian jiujiutsu myself and i've seen you mention before that probably not a lot of people would be interested in bjj related material, but im sure those of us that train in these sports would appreciate it just that much more. Nevertheless thanks for the quality content and knowledge!

    • @jimmerd
      @jimmerd 5 лет назад +3

      I also think this is a great idea, though I don’t currently practice any martial arts, but I think Brian’s whole mentality of being as dangerous as possible is shared by a good portion of his audience, even those that don’t really do fighting. So some tips on that would be really great!

    • @That1CommentGuy
      @That1CommentGuy 5 лет назад +2

      His training style is already perfect for martial arts training. Everything he does is for explosiveness, strength, and conditioning.
      I used to do MMA when I was younger. I’ve switched to Judo and BJJ. After I started adopting Brian’s training style into the gym I have seen a direct transfer of benefits on the mats.
      Specifically all the core work he does in each giant set, on every workout. A fighters greatest asset is a core that is stupid strong.

    Bandy twisty things is a name that can't be beat!
    I love the idea of approaching every lift as a way to practice bracing.. I have the hardest time getting those big belly breaths, feels like my chest sucks up the air when I try doing it before a lift.. But I'm able to get it into my belly when I really concentrate. Might as well practice whenever I'm preparing for any lift.

    • @frodothehobo9938

      overhead press and facepulls done with a band. a properly done overhead press (shrugging at the top, vertical forearms) not only prevents but also reverses shoulder impingement, physical therapists will often prescribe the OHP post rotator cuff surgery, starting with a pvc pipe and working up to approx 55lbs before dismissing the client.

      There's lots of videos on it, Mark Bell has a video on it with Brian Shaw. There's nothing special about it, get some light resistance bands and take your joint through a full ROM. "Light" shoulder exercises also help, but I recommend a morning/pre-workout routine involving your rotator cuff, lots of articles online. Just look up "shoulder mobility exercises"

    Thanks for the great content. I started doing the glute ham raise halos and full contact twists after watching a previous video. I was already doing wipers, and I think it's a great exercise which I make sure to hit once a week. I didn't know what to call the glute ham halos, so I refer to them as decline plate rotations, and they blast my core. The full contact twists aren't easy to do, but I don't feel quite the same type of strain/tension in my core as I do for other core exercises, however I do feel it in my shoulders and rear delts.

    For the human flag pose. I place my shoulder on the pole (i face the ceiling) with my hands graving the pole about a foot from my face, then i brace my core and pull hard with my arms and back until i am parallel to the ground and hold that position as long as possible. Is an easier human flag, but still
    tough enough to get a strong core. Love your videos man.

    For the over head side bend. I have a 4” 10 foot piece of sewer pvc pipe. I have two caps on the ends and fill it with some water. Put it on your shoulders like your squatting and lean side to side , the water sloshing around from side to side makes a real tough. ✌🏻

    I'd love to hear about your combat training and the combat skills you work on outside the gym - even shooting practice if you'd care to talk about it.
    Started watching your channel when I saw you on Alan Thrall last year (2 years ago?). The content and your approach to the channel, your generosity and kindness and true positivity, are great. I look forward to each post. Thanks so much, Mr. Alsruhe.

      I am actually a firearms instructor but haven't touched a gun since I left and honestly probably won't man. But I am going to start doing more fight based stuff.

      @@BrianAlsruheOfficial it's really awesome of you to get back to me. Can't wait to see what you got coming out - fight training and otherwise. Thanks again for the reply. I know you're a busy, busy man. Best to you and yours, sir!
