3 years to the day and 7800 hours on my 77 LG CX. Mix of gaming, movies, and general show watching. Not the slightest hint of burn in or picture degradation of any kind!
I also have an LG OLED monitor, the massive 48 inch 48gq-900b. I've had it for roughly 1.5 years now, with 2500 hours on the panel. Exclusively used as a monitor for my Mac, with light gaming here and there, but I mostly use it to multitask as I like being able to see a lot at once(it's like having 4-24 inch monitors). Very happy to say there isn't the slightest big of burn in on that panel either!
So thankful cause damn do I love my OLED displays.

My used S7 edge had a pretty awful burn in. Same thing you described but I could see all the previous owner's apps, keyboard, and widgets. Phone was still great and the burn in wasnt always visible but I learned that you should always test a phone before buying it second hand...
And I keep my brightness as low as I can and have a 15 second time out. No burn in on any phone since then.

LG CX, 9000 hours (daily around 10 hours for work like Photoshop, Media Design) ... RUclips, Gaming. Auto Hide, Dim and all that stuff off, not a single thing installed to prevent burn in. I have ZERO burn in, nothing. I bought the TV as a Monitor Replacement and i was like if it gets burn in im going to buy a new one, i was sure i will get some because im not cautious at all. Like i said nothing. Over 9000 Hours! That stuff is at least on CX and newer not needed anymore. Just use it as a normal TN/IPS Monitor, no need to castrate yourself. The only thing i was constantly running was 85% Oled light and 50% brightness. Afaik and from what i heard to much brightness kills your panel and not static objects. This only happens IF you run a high brightness AND have static objects.

Can someone explain to me why varying content on a LG C1 OLED has any point? People say burn in is cumulative so why even vary?

  • @Fusionade
    @Fusionade Год назад +10

~2500 hours on my LG C2 42" I purchased at launch last year. I use it as a PC monitor which involves work, gaming, web browsing, and other productivity uses. So basically, the worst case scenario for burn-in I think (having same window open for hours like Microsoft Excel or something). And no burn-in! I also have Pixel Shift/Screen Move turned off, and I have never manually run Pixel Cleaning. Also, my Pixel Brightness/OLED Light is usually set somewhere between 80-100 which is quite high. The only precaution I have taken is auto-hiding the taskbar.
I truly expected there to be some burn-in because I have my windows organized the same way constantly for many, many hours a day for over a year, and I usually have it quite bright since there is always daylight streaming in. And nothing! Very impressed.

LG C2 42 inch, using as PC monitor. At least 8 hours a day of office work with 4 windows email, 2 browser, teams. Every couple of weeks I move windows around, so it's not the same window in the same quarter of the screen, just in case. Do a lot of gaming too, hopefully that helps to move pixels around. 6 months so far so good. Just happened to come by this test, will save and try to update every 6 months if I don't switch to other monitor.

I only notice very slight burn on my 4 month old iPhone 13 Pro Max. I can only see the Instagram icons, the pink bars from long use of playing Candy Crush Saga, battery icon, the Wifi icon, the reception icon, the location icon, the clock, and the swipe bar. It’s all very faint. I can’t notice it on the other colors except dark gray.
Update (Edited on November 19, 2023): the burn-in hasn’t changed at all. After 1 year and 5 months, the OLED panel has held up so well. I have had the brightness around 80-90% about 85% of the time and I haven’t noticed any additional burn-in problems. I am impressed. The burn-in issues are not very common. I can only see a the burn in issues if I dim the screen down or if I am on a dark gray screen.

LG C7 here, a little over 4 years of use. In the past year I've used it more for my HTPC, but primarily used for gaming, RUclips, etc. Lots of burn-in for me! I expected some, especially since I now use it as a PC monitor, but damn! I even have my OLED light turned down below half to try and minimize burn-in since there are lots potential static items on a PC but I still have loads of burn in, especially around the edges from desktop icons. Not a huge deal since I originally planned on getting about 5 years out of this thing, and I didn't have any burn-in until recently, so definitely be careful if you want to use your OLED TV for a PC, even trying to be conscious of it I got crazy burn-in in less than a year - also worth mentioning is that this is an older OLED, hopefully newer models are better with this.

Ive been using an LG C9 as a PC monitor since Feb 2020 and i now have 7719 hours on it without a single blemish or any sign of burn in. I think the key is to use it at least 4hrs when you use it so it does the smaller pixel refresh when your done. My tv has done that refresh every day ive used it since ive had it. I have the 5y Best Buy warranty too just in case. Ive read itll start getting dimmer at 10,000hrs. Ill definitely be at that much before 5ys. Look if there is any statical image, such as logos, game's HUD, sport's scoreboard etc. These are usually what causes permanent and temporary image retention.
If you didnt spot nothing out of ordinary as you said, you're good.

OLED55B7M. 4 years of use and a daughter that left Netflix menu a lot.
Red color is bad, can see Netflix on the bottom right, vertical lines all the upper part of the screen, and like a dark cloud in the center.
By the way, there's a square shape in the center of the screen with almost all colors.
Still looks great with regular videos, but I won't but another TV while I still have kids.

IF you watching the video on Windows, and there were no problems on the prior colors, I wouldn't worry about it. For some reason, the gray color tends not to play well with TVs in windows. I have this issue with my c9 and the LG ub8500 prior, its rare and it only happens when the majority of the screen has a solid gray color.

Just bought the C3 and now I have it 1 day was playing call of duty for 1 1/2 hours, I never thought of burn in or something I always watched different stuff before. Then I watched this videos all colors were fine. But the black/grey at the end just hat the marks were the static elements were like WTF!! Also on the left side a HUGE „cloud“ of dirty screen!!! How can that be?! After just one day having it and 1 hour of gaming?! Everybody told me not to worry about burn in especially with the newer ones but if that happened already after ONE HOUR of gaming on the FIRST DAY WITH THE TV how should this look like in a year?! Just spend 1.75k for it it was more than my savings! But before that I had a defect neoQLED Samsung after I had to return it I got another defect neoQLED Samsung and than the TVs were out of stock! Samsung didn’t even care to find a solution for me after to damaged high end brand new TVs! I couldn’t even keep them cause I would’ve lost warranty and would’ve to pay for further issues by myself like wtf. So I decided to listen to the people who always recommended the LG OLED and said burn in won’t happen (which was and is my fear) and now that?! I didn’t want to stay with Samsung after that experience. Can somebody tell me why I’m so cursed with TVs? Before that I had an old plasma tv from my grandma so I need a new tv with all the stuff that is needed for ps5, having 4K and all that. My first good tv but seems like they are all made out of trash! 55“ I have and no car this time I would’ve need to bring it back myself cause I bought in the store but I’m slowly done with this. I buy the best TVs but always have problems! Even now with the most loved tv, burn in after one day and only one ridiculous hour of gaming?! All the other colors were fine there was nothing, only at the last one the black/grey background you saw everything it looked terrible!
