Correction. Nintendo did not dmca/take down ryujinx. They offered the main developer a payout to cease development. Since they were based in brazil where nintendo had no legal presence they couldnt not have DMCA it.

In theory yes. But development takes a lot of time and effort and will have nowhere near close to the resources that these original projects have. Plus, it will be kind of hard to take money with Nintendo's threat. Maybe these new projects can take crypto, but that comes with its own problems. Well you are right when you're not breaking the encryption on the game to play it and you aren't downloading it off the internet, when the majority of an product's usage is to commit crime (yes piracy is a crime) then the courts will eventually overrule any previous cases that declare that item was legal in the first place (Sony vs Bleem).

The emulators still work, they're not even wiped off the net, you just have to know where to look. Besides Ryujinx was apparently open source, so there's someone out there with a chip on their shoulder, the knowledge to continue the project AND the legal justification for doing so.
