My first mod was a billetworkz shift stop and shifter and it really does make a huge different of the feeling in each shift. For $35 bucks it’s a no brainer mod👍 and it took 15 min to install
Bought the BilletWorkz shift stop on your recommendation for my 2022 WRX. Best $35 I've ever spent. Great video and thanks for the fantastic recommendation. Gained a sub!
Just installed a Cobb shifter plate, Cobb bushing and Cobb shift stop. I normally would not install this as I am not mechanically inclined. Your videos made it doable even though it took me a long time. Because I only have ramps, it made it tough to work under the car. Removing the pin was the hardest part. I didn’t have leverage and I didn’t have the right angle on the pin so it didn’t move for a while. With the Cobb shifter plate, I was able to keep the dust shield on. If I had to remove that bolt from the top, I may have given up. Not sure how you got it off as none of my tools would fit up there to get it. The throws now are really short. More than I though it would be. I love it as the stock setup was very sloppy. Thank you! Keep up the good work.
The perrin version comes with two little washers that you're supposed to put on the left side front and back. I never understood those washers, and billets works doesn't have those.
Had one on my last wrx and it failed. Although it was the sti version for my sti transmission swap. Idk if I would take the risk for as much as they cost.
By Up/down Slop do you mean foward-backwards Slop when on gear or the actual Shifter being able to move up and down in the assembly? The foward-backwards Slop is present in the 2022 but I've yet to figure out a way to fix it. A short shifter helps but doesn't completely eliminate it.
@@StreetInspired1 On the VA, select any gear and you can still wiggle the shifter up and down. Similar to the side/side before adding the shift stop. My understanding is that it is slop in the cable where it connects to the shifter but the clevis has no adjustment.
I have seen the updated Perrin one. It is nice, however it doesn't actually shorten the throws, it just removes some un-used space or Slop in the shifter when the gear is engaged. But It does look nice!
I, Austin, owner and engineer behind Billetworkz, don’t recommend their super shift stop. The super shift stop from Perrin direct effects gear engagement, as it is limited forward and backward movement. A standard shift stop, like what we offer, does not effect gear engagement, as it only effects side to side play. In other words, the internals of the transmission should be what stops the forward and backward travel of the shifter. You don’t not want a physical stop against the shifter effecting gear engagement. Let me know if you have any questions!
@@Billetworkz I have a question. The Perrin version comes with two little washers you're supposed to put on the left side of the shifter assembly. I don't really understand what those washers are for, do you know why they included those?
Great video !! I plan to do that but ….. , does anyone with the factory short shifter know if it does same thing ? ( my car not here yet ) BTW off topic , did your front window tint fix itself ?
I haven't really found a need for that as usually once it's in gear I have no issue with the forward to back slop. My issue was without the shift stop getting it into first and second gear felt sloppy.
I've installed these on my VA wrx and never had an issue installing without locktite, but it also wouldn't hurt if you want a little extra peace of mind.

Thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated!
Got your shift knob on my Veloster N. Love it!
I went with the Cobb so could adjuster separately. Massive difference and much needed. Definitely a must no matter which brand you go with.
Just received the Hybrid BilletWorkz shift knob today. Excited to install it
Cobb the only smart ones to use double nut design so you can adjust each side independently 😂
Literally ordered this while watching 😂

did the shift plate and bushing make going into 2nd gear feel less shitty?
Great vid and explanation

I think they put the slop in there on purpose to help prevent people from hitting 1rst instead of 3rd. Esp when downshifting
Thanks for this cody! I just ordered this as well since the shift slop was horrendous.
I literally just ordered this 10 mins ago. Plus they have 20% off right now.
Thank you!! Just ordered it!!
still haven't installed mine yet because i refuse to do it until i put my shift plate on and i've been lazy. i atleast put my fusion knob on though
Have you seen Dark Matter X short shifter? They’re not cheap but seems like a massive upgrade.
Had one on my last wrx and it failed. Although it was the sti version for my sti transmission swap. Idk if I would take the risk for as much as they cost.
I dropped a bolt underneath my shifter. What do I do??! Is it okay to not worry about it?
This was great but have you found a way to get rid of the up/down slop? It's bad on the VA, maybe it's better on the 22+

@@MrBubba123bubba okay I know what you mean. Unfortunately I don't think there's a fix currently 🥲
@@StreetInspired1 I have faith in you. Maybe you need to team up with someone like BilletWorkz. You've got the RUclips/Street cred.
Perrin’s new super shift stop also shortens throws for the same price which i think is a better buy. What do you think?

Unfortunately the factory short shifter will still have the same Slop. And yeah the front tint did end up clearing up now!

Can this void the warranty?
Nope!

Do you need to use any blue lock tight when installing the shifter stop plate Thanks.
