- Today Ernie will be installing a Perrin Shift Stop on the new WRX! The new WRX unfortunately suffers from the same shift slop that the outgoing one suffered from as well.. Luckily there's a cheap and easy option to address it!

Just installed mine today. It's a must simple mod. 👌
Tooked my time to really make sure it goes in gear and not a lot of slop.

Before you add the Perrin stop, put a drop or two of light oil between it and the stock limiter. Then, when you adjust one, the other doesn't move. Cool video, I like that you showed it took a couple of tries to get it right. 👍

WOW, 1-2 is so nice and clean now! i took out even more slop than shown. feels so good!! this is my first modification and its worth every penny. fast shpping too. i ordered the brass busing as well, but will wait till its warmer to mess with that. but honestly this shifter in my VB is tight all around now... i'm not sure i'll need it. this is how it should have come from the factory!
Do you ever have trouble getting into 1st? I get this really unsatisfying resistance going into 1st. Even been locked out of 1st a couple times

press the clutch when the car is stopped and it will let you into any gear. works on mine.
I have the same car, my stop is coming in today, but my question is can you use the dash counter on the dash at the same time to see if it is going into gear?? While you are feeling out the shifter?
When I test drove a 22 5th gear was weird to get into. It almost doesn’t seem like it’s far enough up to the right… the feeling was too close to 3rd IMO. I’ll get used to it though
Will the linked shifter stop work with the factory installed short shifter?
will the screw loose later on? cause it's frequetly shifting everyday...
I noticed you didn’t install the washers on the side nuts, I didn’t either, the instructions say to do this? What are they for, do we need to do that?
How come you didn’t use the washers that came with it?
Is the washer important? I haven't installed mine..

What about 5th?!
Why didn’t the car let u go into 5th ? If I may ask my car does that to sometimes and I am new to manual cars
when its off sometime the the teeth on the gears could be misaligned, in our case we started the car moved it a foot and it went in fine :)
@@rallysportdirect my car does it sometimes when even on and it’s mainly 2nd and 6 but u saying it’s normal right ?

So just forget about 5th gear?? Lol u better redo it again!!
Don’t buy Perrin’s. Cobb’s solution is much better, it has the same shape as the OEM reverse lockout, it’s not metal so it won’t score your shifter as much and it allows you to adjust the reverse lockout (for 5th and 6th) separately

Sti short throw shifter doesn’t include the shift knob silly. I know because I have that option.
Same, might need to add a shift stop.
Interesting, on our build sheet it's listed as if it falls under the option
Sti short shifter package does or at least that’s what I have seen on the paper say at the dealership
@@hater1092 no, my 22 WRX has the sti short shifter regular knob. Also if you go to build one accessories sti shift knob $185 and sti short shifter $427

We rolled the car a foot and it went in fine, guessing the teeth were aligned weird
