I like to think Satch is doing this series as a means to recover his sanity in between reviewing sims 4 packs

I think we all need to recover after 10 years of Sims 4 and the fact that we get nothing from it lol
Yeah sims 4 has still been broken for me since the for rent patch so I'm using stardew valley to recover my sanity
You know what I love? And its a small thing, but I love that they go back to the original rack to put the outfit back, not just whatever one they get to first. So many things were done so well in Sims 2. I love Sims 3, but Sims 2 is special.

I loveeee this pack . If only the sims 4 team would collab with a clothing company that normal folks shop at . Give us an H&M , Forever 21 , or Old Navy stuff pack , something humble, recognizable and fashionable 😭

All the sims youtubers playing the older games recently feels like therapy to recover from the horrendous state of the sims 4😂
The funniest thing is, i dont think the sims team would struggle with throwing in "changing booth" assets. Its the animation they would fumble. Like the changing room would just be a "changing booth object" for design purposes. You'd click it and select the interaction "try on" and instead of your sim going into the booth, simply opening the curtain and stepping in, it'd be something like, wherever your sim is on the lot, they'd just do that heavily recycled "change outfit" spin. That spin that used to be iconic for the sims but is now heavily abused like the hand swipe? Yeah, that animation. And then the clothes would appear on your sim.
And then some glitch would take place where your sim could leave the lot with the "try on" clothes, but its not like the player would even notice because there is literally no significant animation involving interacting with the cashier.
But its not like itd matter when sims 4 doesn’t even punish you with cops. We wouldnt even get a reminder that we stole the clothes. Instead EA would pull some scummy business move like; "if you wanna do bad things and get caught, get the criminal pack!"
They could recycle the animation from trying on clothes in the closets from Get Together. 🤷♀️
@LexTime89 I'd prefer a new animation though.
The issue with the Sims team is that, whatever takes effort and precision, they'll pass up.
It's way easier to throw together "low-poly stylized" objects and attach a string of code that doesn't require thinking of past codes. And you can see this with how every pack drop, it's ridden with bugs, because that's most likely all the team is doing. Model object>use string code from other interaction > use animation code from other interaction> tweak> rename> upload.
It should be more like.
Oh! Here's a new idea. Reference study> code it> test it> prototype it> animate it> model it> more animation for model> test it> tweak> test it again> polish it> name it.
Or something along those lines. Any ways, the second path requires time and skill. It also pushes for a more creative experience.
Objects for build/buy and clothing doesn't really require coding that affects the game, so it's easier to bog down the Sims 4 with a crapload of empty assets rather interesting gameplay.
Before I started watching Satch, I thought Moschino was something EA made up. Like a clothing brand for Sims by Sims.
Why H&M feels relatable compared to Moschino is because of price and brand exclusion. Everyone can shop at HnM but not all could shop at Moschino as the brand is very pricey. So the sense of adapting it into the Sims felt more real . Unless you want to do like a rags to riches type of gameplay where your sims shop at HnM for a decent price of clothes then work their way up until they can afford Moschino stuff 😂 one of essence ppl play the Sims is bcause they want to implement real life situations but they can alter fate and reality.
What I would give for a graphical remake of the sims 2.
Though I suppose the painfully early 00s visuals are part of its everlasting charm.
Just in case you didn’t know already - there’s cheats in ts2 that remove the grid lock and let you place furniture freely! You can also rotate furniture 45 degrees with cheats. These make building in ts2 MUCH less terrible.
I love earlier Sims games so much. I get that it's tied to childhood and teenage memories but they were better games by far 😭 honestly I don't think I'll reminisce over Sims 4 when I'll be 50
I believe Fashion Runway was actually meant to be included but it wasn't finished so it's hidden. I think I saw mods that completed the feature and made it possible to do a fashion show.

Sims 2 and 3 were so fun! I have been living for TS3 recently. This was so fun to watch! Brought back so many good nostalgic memories
The sims 2 is one of the best of the series with the sims 3. How could anyone prefer the sims 4? The details in the sims 2 is what gives it the charm and fun. I suddenly find myself playing with it for 2h or 3h at a time. While playing the sims 4, i used to be like 1h creating my sims plus building a home and like 10mins of gameplay cuz it is just that boring. The details should not be looked over in a game like the sims, because it is a key element for making a game that is literally just clicking things, interacting with them and watching it actually enjoyable.

I think the reason for why its a default mannequin when you buy clothes is so that you aren’t gonna see what your sim looks like in them, because that gives a reason to try the clothes so you can see how your sim actually will look in the outfit you choose. It’s also the reason why you don’t see a whole sim when you choose outfits to try on. The menu is a bit different.
Also when you buy clothes you get the option to buy clothes for both genders and all the life stages so that probably makes sense that you have the mannequin default sim because otherwise you would be able to see what your sim looks like as an elder or as a child which could be seen as kind of cheaty.
Although I have realised the mannequin face can be a bit buggy as it sometimes just takes on the face of another random sim on the lot instead of it’s default one
My top favorite thing is mainly just that sims can browse clothes, try them on and check themselves out in the mirror. It's the small details and animation that I appreciate so much.

omg so many memories unlocked.... I was a kid in elementary school, 4 seasons and H&M were the only expansion packs I had for Sims 2. I had completely forgotten about the runway scam until you mentioned it in this video! But yes, I remember now how I also would try and pretend my Sim is using the runway by manually making her walk on it, omg
What you said about the nostalgia effect and how the world felt like a much better place back then is my thoughts exactly, and I'm struggling every day with my craving for those better times

You don't have to go to one of the official H&M locales, but you can buy it anywhere. I've never noticed if it's not available in CAS. I love the clothes that come with it. I like buying clothes and groceries in TS2.
SSX 3 was one of my favourite games. Ah, the nostalgia.

And fun fact, in SSX Tricky, a snowboarding game, the characters have personalities with traits and relationships (a lot like sims), and the characters in there have more personality than any Sim in Sims 4 could ever hope to, it's wild to me. EA used to be SO GOOD. But it got so big and popular, the execs figured out that people would just buy their games for the brand name and nostalgia, even if they made everything worse.

I love your Sims. They just BE their own quirky selves! So "You just be you" and embrace it! Also, I think Sims 2 is the best overall. It's about living life. Sims 3 is more goal orientated. Which gets stressful at times. Tho the open world is my very favorite feature in the entire Sims franchise! Sims 4 has added some good gameplay especially with the scenarios, but honestly, too much of the "it's all about me" attitude...I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
It's so annoying that the more easier it's come for Sims creators to work at home, work at their own lesuire...that they DON'T. They could build worlds, houses that are amazingly built, character lore...they can do this all from home and provide an amazing Sims experience but they just don't...they don't even wait for games to work properly before they sell them.

I loved that throw flame object. And nightlife pack club cloths. I used to record videclips with the sims and use that object all the time. This video bring good memories. By the way the club light from sims 2 is much better than sims 4.

I think you could get HM stuff in Cas, but I think after cas if you want new clothes of any pack you need to go shopping

It's a shame that I never got to play Sims 2 on PC. I only had a PS2 and the game was so shallow. I really enjoyed S2: Castaway, though. Don't know if that was an EP for PC, though.

So I lost my Sims 2 saves many years ago, but I wan to say that I put something on the runway so they would use it, can't remember what, but something.... Oh, I think I put stairs on the back on the sides and just put a sculpture of some kind on the end that everyone always wanted to look at and they would go look at it and it would look like they were walking the runway.

lol let’s be honest, I remember only liking that long dress. This pack was such a disappointment, it had very little outfits! I think in general all sims packs and expansion should bring many more items and clothing 😅

Look, the Sims 2 stuff packs definitely had some false advertisements in their promos/trailers, especially in the videos. One of which is the H&M trailer where it looked like you can have an actual modeling career/runway. But seriously, even as a teen then, I knew that those were just used to highlight the pack. You bought those stuff packs because you knew they were aesthetics that added to the rich gameplay The Sims 2 base + expansion packs already had. Hence why you still bought them anyway. You knew from the start that stuff packs were just pure aesthetics. Sims 4 stuff packs with some form of gameplay could never.
Also nevermind how sims interact with objects in the Sims 2. Sims actually are doing sensible things when they are in community lots. Like if there are clothes racks, they will browse those racks. Take note that in The Sims 2 there are only 2 types of lots Residentials and Community Lots. And sims were actually smarter compared to the Sims 4. They'd either just dance, play on their phone, talk to someone (and not even facing each other), do push ups, zero sense.
The pleasant view one is really ugly inside.
