I remember playing this pack as a kid (probably 11 or so, 27 now). The Sims 2 had so much more compared to the new sims games. I remember they had snow days in the sims 2. Everything went down hill after awhile.
Sims 2 was so fun..I remember how it was such a challenge to get the kid into private school (until I got it down to an art.) Loved the Christmas pack. I had to hunt for the damn penguin forever!!! Sims 2 was the best, such great memories!!

I miss playing Sims 2 so much. My resolution in 2024 is to finally get a gaming PC so I can go back to my happy place. Thank you for playing this! I can't remember if this was a feature in Sims 2 (I know it was in Sims 3) but kids could have snow days if there was too much snow covering the ground. These games were so good 😭
I don't think you need a gaming pc for that. True, there are problems with new systems that sometimes will not let you launch the game but some good people on the internet found a fix for that. Anyway, even if your pc is couple of years old you should be fine with ts2 :)
@@AgataBajorska That's fair, however I only own a Mac right now so if I were to play Sims 2 in its entirety, I'd need a PC regardless. And I'm on the Sims 2 subreddit so I know about the fixes, at least I think I do.
There used to be a Mac version of the Ultimate Collection, called the Super Collection, available on the mac app store. But I last tried it a couple years ago and it wasn't updated and didn't work. :( I'm not sure if they ever updated it or not... @@DiannawithtwoNs

If you are ever willing, I would recommend at least trying The Sims 2 base game because it's a complete experience just for the gameplay alone. The AI was so much more intelligent than The Sims 4, which is a strange thing to say considering it came out twenty years ago. Of course the graphics aren't shiny and polished, but you soon forget that when you're immersed in your Sim's lives. There's a reason people still play the game to this day.

Judging from the pattern of the fire towards the end, I'm assuming it's because the rug was placed right in front of the fireplace. I remember having this problem a lot myself but back then wasn't sure why the fireplace was such a hazard.
Yes, having carpet or rugs near the fireplace, as well as inflammable objects, will cause a fire. Also, if you leave Christmas trees lit and go to bed, they cause a fire as well.
Oh jeez, I forgot how easy it was to start a fire in the sims 2!!! All they do is stand around freaking out about it, unless you get a fire alarm as it brings the fire fighters right away as the fire starts. At least in the sims 4 they run outside away from it, and even save small children.
In the sims 2 you can also send kids to private primary and high school, you have to invite the headmaster over for dinner and show him all the house rooms and also convince him to sign the kids to school, they need to have good grades and exhibit good behaviour through the meeting. It’s an event you organise through the phone

It also stays imprinted a long while to look more realistic in spawning time as a trail that lasts. I watched my two robots have hella fun making a snowman to electro musics

I think it called dynamic snowfall.? Where it actually accumulates on the ground at different levels depending on how much it's snowed and in game temperature. It's amazing and it exist in sims 2 and sims 3. For those that still play 3 there is a mod to properly lay the snow around outdoor objects (like the bonfire) and a mod that re-enables certain outdoor activities that give you "snow too deep" tooltip on MTS.

Then we have Santa/Sankt Nikolaus/Saint Nicholas as the main generation and last but not least we have elves and Knecht Ruprecht [helpers].

It was in the manual (though I understand not many people are actually reading manuals) and also in in-game tips. And it was also mentioned in practically every Sims 2 Seasons online guides I've read. The most funny thing about that is, that unlike Sims 3 and 4, in Sims 2 you can make the seasons upwords. Like Spring, Winter, Fall and Summer. And it was blast to play like this 😁 But man do I miss penguins. They were so much fun to play with 😁
