I kind of love how kitschy and outwardly touristy the vacations in the older Sims games were. The destinations were always so vague and stereotypical but it's fun.
Why did they not add games like those to the boardwalk in Sims 4 Highschool Years? That would have been fun.
Yea but they would’ve randomly had announced winners, not based on sims skill levels because sims 4 doesn’t make much sense.

I loved those carnival games you played for tokens! My sims barely did anything else on vacation because they ALL needed massive plush hamsters and penguins.

Shannon is the same face as my iconic TS1 character, Violet Kitty. And that purple top outfit you chose is the winterwear she wears. I have only played TS1 a handful of times since the release of TS2. I built a great location for each of the 3 themes. I still use two of them in TS2. I wish the exchange was still available because I miss those builds. All my tutorial albums are missing too :-( I was able to save my TS2 albums.
She must have high outgoing trait (8-10) which is why they get on the hot tub naked. The first person in sets the vibe. So even a shy Sim will get in naked if an outgoing Sim got in first.
Instead of the move_objects on cheat, I send my Sim to Old Town to visit Miss Lucille. She reads palms and it raises all your needs. I never thought about adding her to a Vacation Island lot, but that is worth investigating. You get the vacation award by keeping all Sims' motives high enough for the right amount of time. Whichever lot you are on at the moment determines which of the three souvenirs your Sims earn. They spawn it as soon as you get home.
This makes me want to do TS1 videos. TS2 is still my favorite of all time.
OMG! I did the same thing yesterday! I installed The Sims 1 and the old memories came back and this game is awesome! That gameplay and sounds and music.... something extra! ^^
I've been playing sims 1 recently too and it still holds up 20 years later! My fave will always be makin magic!
In the 3rd grade, my "computer lab" class had us use floppy discs. This was in the fall 2003 to spring 2004 school year. That was the only year we used them. In fourth grade, they were gone. I guess the teacher decided that they were rather useless by 2004 since flash drives could hold far more material. Either that or kids might have been too rough with the discs and broke them too often. Now that I think of it, I didn't we used flash drives in that class. We went straight to just putting CD's in the computers. Going from using a strange device to not using it ever again was a strange transition. I guess the teacher was afraid we would also be too rough with flash drives, too. I know the school had some budget issues (we had "walkathons" so the school could raise money for equipment at random times of the year) so she didn't want to risk more kids breaking flash drives (even though they are harder to break compared to a floppy disc) as to have to replace them so often.

The sims 1 played better on the older PC’s for some reason. My dads PC from the late 90’s plays this smoothly still to this day
Its bc its not optimized for newer pcs. It runs well on older PCs bc those have the right OS to run Sims 1

looking at the sims 1, i realize there's not much more depth in the sims 4. One or two interactions, it's fun once you do it and then... no stories happen organically, no happy accidents, it's one and done.... so eventually you get bored and never touch it again lmao

I used to let my sims “free play” on their own for an hour or two when I did my homework. They collect tokens really fast at those locations. 🎉👍

If you want someone to do activities with you, pick a person and click 'join' while she is doing the activity and they will join you. Sims 1 was so much fun and had so much depth for it's time. Considering this game is 20 years old, it's pretty great. And had a lot of things that sims 4 still does not have
I love how in the english version the guy who works with prizes is named a normal name of Barney the Carnie, but in polish they translated it into Innocenty Mięsożerca (Innocenzo Carnivore) and freaked the hell out of kid me akdjfhsdkjf

You can raise all the needs by using the “max motives” (with or without the space) cheat ! The needs are so annoying in The Sims 1, I hope the cheat works, I use it all the time in my games!
I know it works in Sims 2 but never tested it in Sims 1. It always seemed like Sims 1 didn't have many cheat codes.

Ah the nostaligia... I used to play this together with a friend as a kid and I remember us sitting and waiting for the vacation to load for over an hour because the PC couldn't handle it :D still was worth it back then, I especially love the music for this pack.

They do have personal inventories in TS1, just click on the "gift" icon in Live Mode to see.

My sims 1 game never lags but maybe that's because I don't have windows 10 I think
mine never lagged too and I played different versions on different machines, not even windows ones, it must be something with his version or some compatibility problems
My loading screens took forever but the actual game ran well
I play on windows 10 and it doesnt lag.

Makin Magic was the best pack ever!
I tend to play the Sims 1 in a PC emulator running XP, and it runs amazingly well. I never tried it on modem Windows, but in general I don't experience many bugs at all, and load times are in seconds. Not sure if you can try running it in an emulator or not, but I highly recommend it for the best experience. Great videos btw, always love watching your Sims let's plays and commentaries.
I remember those discs. I remember my friend having Larry game on one. XP We were something 11 years old and didn't get far, because our English wasn't good enough. (Finland)
I have vivid memories surrounding floppy disks, actually! My sister used to borrow floppy disks from the school library, copy Harry Potter FanFiction into Microsoft Word and save them to the floppy disk, then bring it home and save the files to her home computer.
We didn’t have internet on the computer in our bedroom, so it was her way of having a huge FanFiction library at her fingertips and it was kinda smart 😂

My favourite vacation pack is the sims 3 since you could explore tombs. But this one is a close second! sims 1 makin magic takes the award for best magic pack hands down. The music, the world, the Easter eggs. I also really liked unleashed because it introduced so many things (farming, expanded world, pets, competitions, etc.)

Oh man there are a lot of "couple" interactions you are missing. That polar bear rug for one thing, there are make out interactions if I remember correctly. Also the heart shaped hot tub has quite the risque interactions available.

In sims 1 I feel like you were playing *with* the game, whereas in sims 4 you are all alone and wander around.

With the bugs and glitches of sims 4, we better start playing previous games.
We definitely made Maid Marion to go with Archie Archer who was our Robin Hood Mascot. We had a mascot per area and things like the sad clown weren't anywhere in the original vacation levels. But it seems like you're playing a version where everything is loaded in and things aren't set up the way they were to balance food choices and other things that get you what you need in each level. When we released vacation we hadn't done Unleashed so there were no pets so there would not have been any dogs and there would not have been any dog houses.

Do any of you Simmers own Sims Shirts? I bought one off of Amazon and I love it so freakin much!! Got to always represent my#1 all time favorite game!!! Regardless of how limited the game is and all of its glitches, Bugs, and problems. I still absolutely love The Sims! I am a massive proud super Nerd, I have Autism and Epilepsy Grand Mal Seizures, I can’t make or keep friends to save my life and I can’t get Romantic Relationships to save my life either and I have chronic Anxiety and Depression because of my Disabilities and all the rest! My mind and Soul are a pretty dark place. The Sims is an escape for me. It helps me to escape all my Demons and Darkness. I live out Fantasies on the Sims. I can do stuff on The Sims that I can’t do in real life. So regardless of the game’s limitations, Bugs, glitches, and problems which most of is annoying and does suck! (Especially when they make you pay 40, 20, and 10 bucks for packs) but besides all that the game helps me escape and makes me beyond happy! You have no idea just how much the Sims means to me! For that I’m beyond grateful and I’m a massive Simmer for life!!

I am really sorry but maybe someone can help me. I want to make videos with sims 1 on a PC (Win10). I tried Fraps what worked years ago super but now it tells me it cant give me correct videoformat ect. Does someone has a idea what to do? I would be so happy and reliefed - I love the game so much^^
