- I just received an awesome shipment of new lacquers from Oxford Supply, as well as some demo panels showing how the new metallic colors look. Oxford has just released a variety of these beautiful new metallics, as well as their new vintage formula clear. The colors look awesome, and the demo body that they sent with the vintage clear has some beautiful checking on it. I am excited to get to work with these products.

Thanks for watching. Видеоклипы
I just refinished my poly-finished strat in Sonic Blue nitro cellulose lacquer from Oxford Supply after watching a bunch of your videos. Thank you!
Nice; I hope you like the refinish.
Ooh I wish I could see it
Stoked to have found this company through you Brad. My 12 year old and I will be building two teles together - I am going to film the paint and post it to my page. Thanks again 🙏🏼
Cheers, I hope your paint jobs go well.
I just got my Oxford Paint, sanding sealer,& vintage nitro in yesterday. My Les Paul build is ready to go🎉🎉
I can’t wait to try this stuff
Excellent video Brad. Loved those colors, the kits, and packaging. I can't wait to order my first kit using your link. Probably the Ice Blue. 🔵
Cheers Brian
Charcoal Frost, Inca Silver, are vintage Fender colours.
Sounds nice!🤠👍
Yes there’s definitely been a focus on going vintage.
I can't wait for your next builds to see what you do with them.
Thanks Darrell
Ha facing the labels away from us - as if my eyes are good enough to read the label! Thanks for the unboxing - Cheers Brad
Haha cheers Dan
Love Oxford lacquer!
It’s so good
Looking forward to the kit demo video. I know you have covered most of the techniques before, but everything in one place with the exact products I plan to use with my project would be most helpful, and probably give me some confidence that it could turn out well.
Thanks Dan. I’m looking forward to making that video.
They're awesome, and YOUR awesome Brad!!! I am learning, however, that you make painting a guitar look a LOT easier than it is in reality for a first guitar project!! Cheers, brother!
Haha yeah :)
Hopefully, in trying to make the process seem less intimidating, I’m not misleading anyone. I certainly wouldn’t want that.
@Brad Angove Absolutely not, brother! I think part of my issue is not having patience, and the other part is probably just my own struggles in getting the paint to lay flat. Going to try a high build primer first now to see if that helps.
Let me know how it goes
Loving this stuff, Brad. I’d also love to see you revisit a metal flake paint job using spray cans and then sprinkle method!
I have a new take on that concept that I plan to do at some point.
This stuff has great potential! Maybe the Leo needs the vintage formula clear? That would make it look "authentic". 🤣
Indeed
I’m ready to order one of their kits as soon as they give you a discount code for us.
Haha I’ll pass that along.
Just ordered the Midnight Wine kit after a disastrous stain attempt. I'll be checking in and trying to get smarter with this before I screw up the paint too.
Luckily I have a bunch of tutorials on working with this stuff, and will soon have more!
Looks like I have a new source for all my paint supply needs. Though living in the states shipping might be pretty expensive.
I know they ship to the states; I’m just not sure what exactly is involved in the arrangement at this point.
Brad, you're the best expert that have found on RUclips! That is why I'm coming to you for advice. I sprayed 2k over a lacquer sanding sealer. A day or two later I had some clouding in a lot of it. I used a heat gun on it and got about 95% of the cloudiness to disappear. However, in a few spots I believe I got it too warm as the cloudiness would disappear, then return worse than when I started. Also, one spot, the clear blistered a little bit. Can I re-spray with 2k to cover this, or am I going to have to sand the clear off and start over? Thank you in advance for any words of wisdom you're willing to share! Also, are you able to get a full nights sleep yet? Lol
If it blistered you will probably have to sand it off. Although, if you don’t need it perfect you could potentially do a super glue fill on it and the sand flat and re-spray.
The little one tends to sleep fairly well, but she refuses to do so before 1 am and I get up at 6:30 for work, so that doesn’t help haha.
@Brad Angove Thanks a million! BTW, sleep is overrated anyway! Lol
Thanks for posting this video! It's like Christmas for me as a paint junkie watching you unwrap these! 😁They'll be sure to be getting some more of my money! 🤣 While I LOVE Oxford, have you ever ordered anything from Great Lakes Custom Colour? They seem to have some pretty nice color options, too! 👀
I’ve never worked with Great Lakes. I’ve heard their products are similar though. I stick with Oxford partially because the product is great and partially because owner is such an awesome guy and I want to support him.
@@BradAngove same, I just like the option of more/different colors. The fact that they have colors like transparent Sonic Blue got my interest, but I do ♥️ Oxford 🥰 But GLCC sells quarts of more colors, too, so I'm gonna have to try some 😅
Enjoy
I am waiting for them to come out with a miami blue
I had a MIM Strat in midnight wine once, beautiful guitar. I loved it, but had to sell it to pay rent. You know how that goes. When you compared that with the candy cola I immediately thought "great burst combo!".
Oh that burst would be unreal.
That's exactly what crossed my mind when I saw the two side by side. I thought the ice blue and inca silver would be another great burst combo. Hey Brad, I'd love to see you do something like that if you haven't already. Wouldn't need to be a guitar body. A piece of scrap of some sort would do fine just to see the proper technique.
Edit: I just found the video you did two years ago 👍
Just got myself some Oxford products. Got the Sanding Sealer, Goldtop Finish, and Clear Satin. Redoing my 2005 Camouflage PRS SE. Now I'm thinking if I should have got the Primer.
Good choice. But yes, the primer likely would have been helpful to get an even base color.
@@BradAngove Took your recommendation and just ordered Oxford White Primer.
I think you’ll be happy with that choice.
Hi Brad, I have an other question about my curly maple bass body. At what step should I apply sanding sealer? Is it necessary to apply sanding sealer with oil finishing... Thanks
You generally wouldn’t apply sanding sealer when doing an oil finish. If you are using it it would be after any filler you’re doing, and before your finish.
Hi Brad, I have a question for you. I want to finish a bass with a curly maple top. I want it natural finish but I want to raise the grain to have an awesome look. What kind of oil is the best to raise the grain? I have in my shop tried and true varnish oil, but I'm not sure that is the best one. Also I think to finish it with tru oil birchwood. Thanks for your reply. Have a good day
I’m very fond of tung oil for getting a nice grain pop look.
Everybody sit crosslegged on the floor breath in, breathe out oohhhhhmmmmm "Be smarter that the box" OOOOOHHHHMMM 🤣
Hey Brad, as always another awesome video. Quick question. Have you ever considered doing an in person seminar? Like a paid crash course in preping, sealing, painting and polishing. I can think of at least one person that would be interested. 🙋🏻♂️
I’ve certainly considered doing a paid live series with a limited group so that I can answer questions and whatnot. The problem with in person (other than venue itself) is that my viewers are from all over the place haha.
@@BradAngove I would fly my happy ass to Canada 🍁
@@BradAngove tell you what, maybe we (you and I) could start this and see where it goes. It could be all geek-out about spraying.
P.S. I have an Inest Iwata LP400
Nice; that’s a beautiful gun.
Hey Brad! ?? I’ve pore filled the mahogany body for paint.
Can I go right to dupli color primer/filler or should I seal it first? Thanks
Filler primer should be fine.
Awesome , thanks…you are a treasure trove!
Inca Silver and Charcoal Frost are a great colours. I have seen Strats done in both and they both make the curves look nice. Can't wait to see what you do with all of those colours, some nice stuff there. Need to build your little one a first guitar and put a hand print in it. Get them started early and keep the art, both music with real instruments and building, alive. Resist the AI music takeover by picking up an instrument and making music.
She’s definitely going to be learning piano as soon as she’s old enough for me to start teaching her. Probably guitar after that assuming she’s interested.
Hope you and the family are getting some good sleep.
Thanks Brian. We are trying haha.
What wax and grease remover would you recommend,Thank you. I did a quick search on your videos and gave up.
I’m not sure there’s much difference between them. I’ve been using the one from duplicolor.
@@BradAngove Is it a little different than lighter fluid or naphtha ? was thinking some cleaners are more harsh than others...
Lighter fluid generally works. It’s not the same, but that will certainly degrease your substrate.
If you're unfamiliar with Charcoal Frost, this is a nice video: ruclips.net/video/mNyaVsRbhC4/видео.html
Love it! 🤗
PS. my cat's breath smells like tuna fish. 🙀
Consider a mint perhaps.
@@BradAngove purrhaps you are right.
😃👍✌️
Hey Brad just got a reply on a comment I left on your final assembly of the 335, saying I won a giveaway. Its your profile pic and your name but it's asking me to message a number. Want to make sure it's not a scam
It’s definitely a scam. I don’t know how they did that, and it doesn’t show up as my name in my notifications. Sorry about that.
@@BradAngove it's all good, I just said I'd let you know so that you're aware of it. Thanks for the response
Hey Brad I just sent you a fb msg I think someone hacked you I received a notification I won something, I know its BS just thought I'd let ya know bud
Thanks; I saw that someone had been using my photo for some kind of scam.
@Brad Angove fuckin scammers man! They are the worst , trying to rip people off , it's disgusting man
Ha, I can tell now that you're a dad. Keep up the rest bro, you look a little tired.
Yeah I feel a bit tired haha. Long week at work too.
