Great video.. just what I needed. I’m wondering what happens when you need to change your gearing before a race let’s say.. is there a way to lengthen it by 2 or 3 links with the leftover links if I were going from a 14t to a 16t cog. Thank you :)

Hi Jace, you can indeed do that but you wouldn't normally need to. Changing from a 16 to a 14 doesn't mean you have to add links - you would just have the wheel sit further back in the dropouts. You would only need to add or remove links if you were making major adjustments like going from a 48t chainring to 56t, for example.

Should the screw be facing the bike, or away from the bike?

The screw head should be away from the frame and the plate next to the frame.

I pin the little square plate in place with a finger, but you could use pliers if it's stiff. If you're struggling, use a proper flat head screwdriver on the screw.
