I believe the signal of goggles to the drone are 2 different signal from the controller, so doesn't matter what remote you use the goggles signal does not depend on remote.

Great insight many thanks for putting this together, i cam from a self build with Air unit that had the 1200mw hack and have noticed a huge difference in penetration. I dont fly big distances but do fly indoors and signal strength would be important.

I actually did the FCC hack just yesterday, but haven't thrown it into action yet. From my digging, it seems rocking the channel mode on "Auto" (with the FCC hack, obviously) is the way to go. It taps into all the channels and both frequencies, so you get the full shebang.
Thinking it might be even sweeter if 2.4 GHz gets in on the party too. Better penetration and more range, ya know? Wondering if you've stumbled onto any fresh deets.

Sorry for the mishaps! But you learned many valuable lessons. As long as your 3D printer can print with a much stiffer material you should be ok.
However. I have a time-saving recommendation.
I recommend you print a regular 5-prop to swap out with one regular DJI prop. If it works even slightly OK, then print the toroidal set. Right now your biggest challenge is material selection.
I also recommend sanding the propellers to remove any edge imperfections. Those matter a lot.
Great video! Curious to know why different remote controllers are affecting the singal rate since the video transmission happens between the vtx on the drone and the googles. Am I missing something?
Great video, but I’m confused why you’re looking at the video transmission rate (mbps) when comparing the two different controllers. Isn’t the video transmission rate only going to be affected by different goggles??

Great stuff. Mine arrived today. FCC doesn’t seem as strong as on the FPV drone, maybe I need to re-do the hack! I noticed at one point before a flight in your video that you didn’t switch channel selection back to Auto, not sure if that made much difference though in that environment.
All flights done in auto channels. Guess i trimmed it out ^^ auto should be the best, but i had the same thought, maybe manual selection whould be better. 🤷♂️

Great test! Thanks. However your conclusion saying that with MC results are very similar between FCC and CE is only valid outside. I am doing visits through concrete and blocks made houses, and I am quickly loosing the video signal completely in CE mode when it stays rock solid in FCC. The difference is huge! Hope this helps
Could be. I did a test now for my latest video. Definitely saw the improvements in fcc when flying normal (not testing or pushing it)

Very nice video! While flying with the older Googles V2 do you see the same on-screen informations of the new Googles 2 ? The layout is the same? I mean the centre circle (using the Motion Controller), and all the datas on the bottom of the screen? Thank you
Yes the same things are show in both goggles, tho the goggles 2 is the only one with the option to record it.
@@RobHK IMO the goggles V2 do record both, the 4k footage AND the telemetric files.

No. If you travel to us it will change on start-up same in uk…. Once powered on, it will change to CE

There is an improvement to the goggles 2, it penetrates better, but line of site should be quite similar to CE tbh. When i get my avata back, or if i do, from DJI ill see if the difference is significant for normal fpv flying(no heavy testing)

Yes that is correct, but not everyone knows that and might think there’s differences so i included that for any total noobies
So the fcc unlock is just an empty file in the sd card?
Interesting to see what others are reporting. As someone who lives in United States 🇺🇸..can report easily getting 300 meters (1,000 feet), still at 50Mbps, in open area.
Open area i get 3km
Open area in CE mode, I get max 350m
Suburban California getting about 300-500m in fcc

I understand the sd card hack only unlocked the 3 chanels it doesn’t really increase the output or the signal. I noticed the same on mine. Now I got the drone tweeks hack which works with on a jacked DJI fly app. This actually gives a message “ fcc mode active” on the screen when the app is launched. I have to test now with this hack to see if a get any noticeable improvement.
These are exactly the same.. difference is a waste of $25. There’s no difference from all the tests ive seen.🤷♂️

what exactly is ce mode and fcc mode?
You dont have a problem with blurred edges on the goggles 2 ? If I have my optics at center my edges are blurred. And if I take the optics further away the edges become clear, but the center part is out of focus...
I have no issues, there is some, but not much so i have no problems.
You could try to change the focus mode setting to off and see if that helps

Thanks for making this video, it was intressting. But I still think that its quite short range? But Avata only uses 5.8 ghz and not 2.4 ghz that would explain the short range alot.
Yes, it´s not a range test? For range i got easily to 3km and could go further. Avata is only 5.8ghz indeed which is a bummer... and CE is a joke. Tho the FCC hack(free) vs the paid one from drone hacks or drone tweaks isn´t giving much difference. Only thing is that you have the option to waste $25 or not. The one in the description is definitely the cheapest way with minimal hassle

Auto is best, if you have interference it will automatically switch to the better.

I live in the US and my new O3 airunit still came in CE mode WTF! I knew something wasn't good when I flew only a few hundred feet away and I was down to 20mbps smh. I fixed it and will be doing a test flight here shortly but it makes sense: CE is only 25mw and FCC is 1200MW!!!!!!

The one you prefer. It has no impact on the transmission feed to the goggles. This comes from the air unit in the avata

Its pretty strange, because when I was on a CE channel I got 30-40mbps, but when I tried FCC it stays on 7mbps all the time.
Check if you’re set to 40mhz which is 50mdps, 20 is 25mbps etc

Just leave it in auto and it will adjust to the channel with best signal automatically

You say at the end that the penetration is not as good as other fpv drones. But from other videos with pro fpv guys, the opposite statement is coming. Where they never get that good penetration as with the goggles 2 and the avata. So that's kinda funny.

I noticed the weather conditions changed from totally cloudy and rain to partly sunny and no rain. You do understand how humidity and other changing weather conditions affect wifi signal transmissions?

14dbm is 25milliwatts radio power and 33dbm is 2000milliwatts or 2watt radio power. when you think of it 14 as around half of 33, but in reality these are 100 times difference in power levels. these are a restriction of both governments.
so with ~33dbm we will fry our brains, i think? :D
i know you are trying to show what this drone is capable of but what about having a spotter ? and not flying BVLOS ?
Bitrate is for the videosignal, has nothing tot do with the controller.

Ive tried both this txt file, and the app from Drone Tweaks, cant say i notice any difference at all between them. also heard discussions about this not being a real FCC hack, but then again, i don't know what the Drone Hacks app do exactly either. Anyhow, not worth paying for an app as they both are equal in performance.
Men med gammle brillene hadde jeg en 1200mw hack. Fungerer den videre på avata eller har vtx max 200som du sier uansett hvilken briller? Har du testa nye brillene vs gammle på rekkevidde i fcc?
Er ingen “ordentlig” hack til avata enda. De som er er like, enten kaster man bort $25 eller tar den som er free.
Eneste den gjør er å gi bedre rekkevidde i brillene. Drona er fortsatt 25mw og går i teorien ikke lengre, men virker sånn fordi brillene holder noe lengre rekkevidde. Vi må nok vente noen uker til

Wearing a smart/Apple watch makes no difference whatsoever. If that were the case then having your phone in your pocket would also be an issue.

It can handle minor rain. But had to pull it back at times when it really opened up. No damage done👌
Lets come to the conclusion that Dji actually made the motion controller dan goggle 2 for CE mode..they finally know how to keep out people from using fcc hack..
I have better result with just one channel in 2.8 ghz than 5.8 with multiple channels

Mate you have made simple mistake !! After FCC hack leave channels on AUTO and allow drone to auto change between 3 of them !! Then check penetration and range !! 😅 and your mind will be blown !!

@RobHK No, you used manual and CH1 only. He meant leaving it to auto so that it automatically switches between the 3 channels. And yes, that's a big mistake. Also the remote has nothing to do with video transmission
yeah you forgot to mention that by doing this your breaking the law in the eu, and people wonder why the govts want to add more and more rules 🤦♂️ I would reckon thats kind of an important bit of information you might want to share

If I were you, I’d repeat the FCC hack. In my case it made a night and day difference.

@@Bhaveshh1 with the old air units sometimes it was necessary to repeat the procedure more than once in order to successfully complete it. Maybe this can be the case as well. With my Avata CE and FCC are a totally different story.
Got to agree, in CE mode I get 350m max before losing signal, in fcc mode 1km and still 45mbit in same area.
