Love this recipe (especially the way it ripped along) but wonder whether lightly sautéeing the sardines, or, even better, adding them to the vegetable mix for the last minute or two, would not be preferable -- they would be warmer through.

Nice new kitchen Albert. My daughter went with electric hob in her new kitchen because it looks nice and wipes clean but it is being replaced with gas asap. Nice recipe too and I will do it soon but having watched my wife open up sardines in the past and take the bones out and scrape the skin off I won't be doing it when we have dinner guests.
I stopped buying canned sardines, after i compared price to weight ratio of canned sardines vs fresh salmon fillets. I always had the analogy that canned foods can never outperform fresh poultry. Problem is i never see fresh sardines at the grocery, their only sold in fish markets
Spanish and Portuguese canned sardines are a real delicacy - they tend to be large, mild, and quite dense and meaty. They’re good for you too.

I love sardines. I just can't get used to the bones, so I just remove them. This looks so yummy 😋
I remove the bones and the remains of the guts. It is possible to buy filleted sardines but they are more expensive.
You should try to get used to them. They are soft, and good for you.

There are so many misconceptions about sardines. I wish more people would try different ways of eating them before they discounted them.

Are you using the the boneless sardines? And if not do u just eat it all together?
If you are using quality sardines, you should use the oil from the can to sauté the vegetables.
Is it really necessary to flip over the sardines? Try using a spoon and drizzle some sauce over each one.
