DJI is smart enough to keep consumer drones available in the US by rebranding under Raptor and Specta. They are out sourced to 3rd party countries. I'm not to concerned. Support might be an issue.
I have the Mini 2 and before that, a Mavic Mini and now I own the Neo with all the kit to use from just hand-held to full FPV, what I have learnt is that as with most large companies, some data is collected, DJI collects the flight paths, location, time of the flight etc as part of being able to use the drone. I do not believe China is interested in the use of a drone in the UK or the USA unless it was being used or had been used for military purposes. I can understand not using DJI drones for Military purposes in the USA or even the UK in secret military bases or anything of national security. I suspect some DJI Drones have been gifted to support the Ukraine vs Russia War, but by the time the Chinese Government could find the drone and tell Putin to intercept it, the mission would have been completed. To stop the general public from buying a DJI Drone in the USA would cause a large loss of tax revenue for the USA from sales of drones and related products. The USA and the UK do not manufacture any consumer-level drones of this price range, it is total madness unless the government invests in American companies to catch up on DJI.
I like flying, but I also like privacy too. Just because DJI has stated they're not collecting information doesn't make it true. I find it very odd that DJI won't let me take off with the Avata 2 without my phone being connected for remote ID. It's my drone, and DJI shouldn't regulate what I do with my product, I understand FAA rules require remote ID, but it's not DJI's job to enforce that, and it feels like a cheap excuse just to collect our data. How do they know I'm not flying in an enclosed structure, or flying in a location that doesn't mandate remote ID?
stop spreading lies. Even if true everything recorded on a DJI drone is already available via Google Earth and they provide all that data globally for China, terrorists domestic mass shooter terrorists to access.
And just because the accusations are there doesn't mean it's true. We have been provided no evidence of the accusations under the excuse of " National Security show us the reports of wrongdoing
Yes it does, I have the technology to watch all data from the drones, from the WiFi and Cellular connection, every packet. Your controller collects data, it can connect to WiFi and upload that data but mine has never transferred anything in 6 years. IF you THINK about it, DJI has been making drones for 12 years, if their drones transmit data back to their 'servers' the internet would stop. 10 minutes of video is 4GB X 1 million... Those that claim DJI is a security risk are full of BS, ask them to show you, they can't. As I told my political creatures, if you vote to ban something you better have proof, not someone's 'I feel or could be or might be' actual proof, documented hard traces showing data flowing to ANY SERVER from the drone or controller. Trump moved that bitch to the UN for a reason.

As of today, the NDAA bill wording up for vote does _NOT_ include anti ccp drone language, so the DJI drone ban threat is dead. ☠

Your anticipation of price gouging is no longer a concern, as of today. The NDAA going up for vote had the anti CCP drone act stripped out.

I went to my credit union and got a loan for a drone last month when I heard the news.
