    I air-gapped as much as possible from the beginning with an Autel Evo II, did not even register to upload air data for 3+ years of use. There's only ever a need to upload flight data to Autel if you have a warranty issue, but the flight logs are locally stored, so a non-issue to air gap

    • @ivaneberle3972
      @ivaneberle3972 Месяц назад

      It could be dealt with by a set of protocols rather than bans

    • @ivaneberle3972
      @ivaneberle3972 Месяц назад

      It could also be new Right-to-Repair laws like here in CA that crimp interest in bringing out consumer drones? Walled-garden vertically-integrated solutions have captured customers with brand loyalty. Open-source like Pix4 based firmware is an alternative

      Greg mentioned DJI having 90% of the market, and that being a $10B annual sales? That would have #2 company Autel a 9% close to being a $1B company. That sounds like a lot of money but it's chump change to try to peel away an increment from this relatively mature market if you're a VC. Hence the high-end tactical DHS & DOD grade manufacturing

    But cant they all be replaced by a Brinc Ball?

  • @ShermanKenB
    @ShermanKenB Месяц назад +1

    I've heard the argument that Skydio and Brinc lobbied for this. Industry and well monied business have lobbied Congress for years to make a more favourable environment for their business. Without large piles of cash and influence I'm afraid this will be a hard issue to successfully fight.

    How popular is the Parrott USA drone with with responders as this drone, has been government approved ?

  • @richiebricker
    @richiebricker Месяц назад +4

    First responders and public safety have nothing to do with this bill. A couple rich guys want a weapons type contract on the local level with astronomical price like $700 tack hammers and $6000 toilet seats. Plus the fact that theyre all fricken racist. Skydio has camera technology but are still a young company that has already restructured, maybe ready to colapse. How many First Responders will be injured while waiting for some start up company to copy a DJI drone then make and send these drones all across the country. First Responders still have to get the job done even without a drone. Some can afford helicopters for seach and rescue but what about barricaded subjects, The first responder will have to go in with no info of whats around the corner and put thier lifes on the line. Thier is also the Power grid and Agriculture that uses DJI, Are they suppose to stop farming for 5 years and the elecric high voltage lines will have to be de-iced by a guy hanging out of a helicopter breaking ice with a metal pole. Wonder what the wind chill factor is underneath a helicopter after a winter storm? Did you know congress can buy and sell stockd before and after signing these kinds of bills? they are also allowed to accept stocks as gifts (or bribes is what it used to be called)

    17:50 Correct me if I'm wrong, on the topic of the DFR tax plan...
    The way I understand it the first responder drones are not the only ones being taxed. All CHINESE unmanned aircraft systems are being taxed so when the detective says that "we're paying for that" he's only partially correct. To be fair he does say "It's going to be public safety, it's going to be everybody" but he seems to brush over the everybody part while emphasizing the public safety part.
    Chinese RC model aircraft, hobbyist drones and private DSP drones for real estate, construction monitoring and any other purposes are included in the tax plan.
    Ironically a lot of those purchases that would be taxed just aren't going to occur because a lot of UAS users would be put out of business/ hobby due to the tax plan.
    And let's not forget that over time the tax plan becomes a full Chinese ban, right?

    Can DJI fight back against a ban decision?

    • @MrDecessus
      @MrDecessus 5 дней назад

      Not really, since they are a foreign company. They can lobby and try and buy some politicians just like all other American companies. But it’s probably not going to work.

    " Would I be able to FOIA request that data?"
    The question should have been "Would I be able to get that data with a FOIA request?"
    The detective said that you can request it, he did not say that you can get it.
    BIG difference.

    36:00 RE mandatory USA manufacturing for DJI
    That's very similar to the Anzu solution. An American company with American software and the hardware is assembled in Malaysia, not China.
    With our phones and almost everything else manufactured offshore why wouldn't we trust this solution?

      No and even if it goes through it wont have any effect for some time. At first it would be an additional tax and over time become a ban.

      @@jerseyshoredroneservices225 no offense, seriously, but if and/or when it does or does not go through, is ALL in the future..we have LITERALLY ZERO idea what is actually going to happen and/or how. The legislators can and most likely will change the bill(s) before it passes or fails to pass. The likelihood of it remaining 100% the same as introduced, all the way thru the legislative process is almost zero, pass or no pass.
      Not trying to be a jerk-man (or man-jerk), but NOBODY has any idea what the future holds, esp as specific as this bill with all its nuances etc. We can just 🙏🤞hope🙏🤞 for the best every day and do everything in our power, both individually and collectively, to thwart or at the very least "de-fang" this ridiculous initiative, so even if it does somehow go thru, it will have as little 'real' effect on American droners as possible.
      🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞💯💯💯🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏

      I don't take Offense when somebody has a reasonable disagreement and there is nothing jerk-man about disagreeing lol
      However, I do think that we have an idea of what will happen if the bills are passed. You're right that they could be altered before being passed but they won't be changed dramatically from their stated intention.
      I think we can agree, it's highly unlikely that an actual ban would be implemented anytime soon. If one of the other bills are passed.
      I think the most likely scenario would be an increased tax on current DJI models and possibly new releases not being available in the US because of the FCC licensing issue included in the cccpda HR 2864
