Ken, the lightning transition to broad daylight has to be one of the coolest transitions I’ve ever seen. Props to you for something totally original and mind blowing!!! Well done Nice review as always. Thank you.
Last year I purchased and sent back the Mavic 3 in favor of the DJI Mini 3 Pro. It's been one of my favorites. Pound for pound it's an amazing drone. Picked up the Air 3 and after a few flights it's easily my favorite DJI drone yet. That smooth vertical ascent and descent is fantastic. OcuSync 4.0 is excellent. What a great drone, thanks for the videos on the Air 3.
Phenomenal detailed review on the Air3 Ken! Your breakdown is accurate and pinpoints the top new features of the drone! The sensor size is a hot debate. But that stacked sensor technology is crazy! Now I already have the Mavic3 & mini3Pro i need to fill in the gap in the middle now lol But overall great upgrade if you have the older DJI drones or if you currently have the Air2S regardless of 1-inch sensor (I’ve owned the Air2S) Thanks!
Solid video. I see you're at 72k subs and I know you've been making content for so long. I think you can get that number up if you interacted with your subscribers more often. Cheers!
Um I’ve always interacted with my subscribers. I’ve gone to lunches… dinners I’ve flown subscribers down to fly and hang out. I’ve traveled to them… I’ve donated thousands in gear to subscribers without being asked. So don’t tell me what I need to do! I stay humble but I’ll check a mother f***er down don’t get it twisted.
Great job on both videos and although this is the Air I skip over…you almost had me sold. I was very happy to see you had it and watched everything thus far that you put out. Again great job!!! 🍻
Good coverage on the batteries. The Air 3 is not only a larger mAh size, but a 4-cell battery: Air 2S: 3700mAh 3S (11.1V) Air 3: 4200mAh 4S (14.8V) These are LiPo (lithium polymer) batteries which are highest performance, but you're right, they can swell (puff) for various reasons over time.
Good vid. Thanks! I recently bought the Air 3 and love it. Point to note for Australians who watch this and contemplate buying the Air 3, the charging brick does not come with the fly more combo in Oz. Separate purchase. Thanks again.
Thank you for the best review of the Air 3's image sensors' capabilities that I've seen! I've seen it mentioned by others, sort of in passing, but you explained the reality of it, and the reason for it, quite well. It was a major hesitation for me to upgrade my Mini 3 Pro to the Air 3 because I was under the impression that it was just the same image sensor, though a pair of them 24 & 70mm... I came to the Mini 3 Pro a year ago, as my first drone, principally interested in still images (vs video) to expand on decades of pro nature photography. The Mavic 3 Pro was just too far outside of my retirement budget so started with the Mini. With extensive experience processing RAW high-resolution (Sony) full frame files, I found it doable (but quite difficult) to get acceptable results with the m3P's 48MP RAW files. It took a LOT of time and processing work (and a lot of frustration having to shoot manual exposure brackets, as the m3P's processor was too weak for AEB). The draw of that 70mm second camera finally coaxed me to give Air 3 a try and I'm SO glad I did! I was absolutely blown away by the significantly improved 48MP image quality with Air 3. The BSI Stacked sensor technology apparently has made all the difference, as It's an incredible image quality upgrade (I think every bit as good as the 1" Sony sensor, with double the resolution as Air 2s). I'm even getting corner to corner sharpness that I never got with the m3P. Couple that with the 70mm second camera and enough processing power to do bursts & 5-frame AEB, at half the price of Mavic 3 Pro. This is turning out to be way better of a purchase than I had anticipated!
Amazing how some people refuse to believe anything other then a 1” sensor is not worth it. Really good review and waiting for some more comparison videos with night time and other functions. Also you may want to point out the F1.7 differences vs F2.8 and what you think about how much difference it will make. Thanks 👍🏼
good luck trying to seamlessly swap between cameras when the fixed apertures are different? Are we supposed to spend time adding differing ND filters to both lenses to compensate, I don't think this is even possible the NDs are fixed for both lenses? So the footage from the zoom lens will be darker than the main camera and will need correcting, not as seamless as they make out
I agree with the sensor technology to a point because in the end SIZE does matter or else you wouldn’t use the Mavic 3 Pro as your go to drone to make money. I can make the Argument that a one inch sensor with variable aperture will capture superior video and images than what the Air 3 can produce. Unfortunately, DJI didn’t give us that so Ill stick with my current which is the M3pro as well as the Air2s but awesome video 👏🏽🚁🎢💯
After just losing our air 2s I almost picked the air 3 but that sensor downgrade was enough to make me just say F it and get the mavic 3 classic for 1k from ebay and use the air 2s controller we already had. I like to record at night too much for a sensor downgrade. Maybe I would have changed my mind if I saw this video sooner. I'm willing to bet the air 3s has a 1 inch sensor though.😢🤣
@@JoshConnectMedia I would say just go for a refurbished Mavic 3 classic instead of the Air 3 you will not be disappointed one bit. Best image quality on the market with the 4/3 sensor you cant beat it and you dont need multiple cameras that’s more of a want in order to cut down on editing time 👍🏽
@@JoshConnectMedia damn people are buying those up like hot cakes. Great video but for me the image quality of the Air3 is like a high end phone camera too sharp or even on par with the mino 3 pro. I prefer the Air2S video quality but other than that the other improvements of the Air3 are really good.
I can't find any documentation from DJI about the sensor being stacked or BSI. I think they would be shouting it from the rooftops if that were true. It's just a 12 mp with quad bayer filter. It may be a great little sensor but something is off.
Nothing is off it’s exactly the information they provided us during the marketing presentation. Something to note. DJI at this time no longer includes a charging brick the Air 3, even with the fly more kit. You will now have to purchase a 100w charging brick separately.
Previous reviews have said buy an air 2s over a mini 3 pro for the 1 inch sensor and better image quality. And now with the same sensor here in the air 3 suddenly we are supposed to believe it is better than the air2s and we pay a big premium for it? So what gives?
Thanks Ken for the real estate perspective with this drone. Compared to the 20mp 4/3 on the Mavic, and stellar other MLS's maxing at 3000 x 2000, which would you say comes out to a better shot from 350 ft to grab those photos where people are asking to show the water like 3 miles away haha? Considering the classic 3 vs air 3. The OS4 almost makes me want to go with the air 3 to make life easier but compared to the mini 3 pro the photos seem to be almost the same with those real estate shots even though this is a stacked sensor and you did bracketing. Currently using the mini 1 so anything will be an upgrade but with straight real estate photos, no video, I think the classic 3 might have the edge? It's this haze sometimes that seems to be pretty annoying down here and as I saw in your drive too. This is an example of something I just took and talking from the mini 1 as an example to something I want to improve drive.google.com/file/d/1HwJqOf-6Pndg1MW-KKmLJOL0_J6oNpdU/view?usp=drive_link . What are your thoughts?
Great video Ken. Sensor size was the only possible hurdle to switching from the Air 2S for me, so thanks for spending so much time on the camera here. The new features of the Air 3 are tempting, but the camera needed to be convincing for me. Think I'm sold 🤘

Yes
Previous reviews have said buy an air 2s over a mini 3 pro for the 1 inch sensor and better image quality. And now with the same sensor here in the air 3 suddenly we are supposed to believe it is better than the air2s and we pay a big premium for it? So what gives?
Question,
Does the remote have the color assist when recording in D-log?
Yes for both lenses
you must have such a tight sphincter to keep all this sh!t so bottled up (pre-release-king-dono)
😂
They didn’t need to add a 1” sensor because that’s coming on the Air 3s.
Love me some Dobo reviews!😂
Is the camera quality of the mavic 3 worth its higher price tag?
It’s better but ultimately will you noticed it when uploaded
With this specs came out I expected Dji Mavic Air 3s is coming out soon
Lol.no
Is the air 3 a good beginner drone? Or should I go with the mini 3 pro?
I think the air 3 or mini 3 would be good
will the controller for the Mavic 3 Enterprise work for the air 3? It'd be a good way to save $200 after spending 6k
@@lienswright did u ever find out?
Great video Ken. Sensor size was the only possible hurdle to switching from the Air 2S for me, so thanks for spending so much time on the camera here. The new features of the Air 3 are tempting, but the camera needed to be convincing for me. Think I'm sold 🤘
That lens flare effect haha
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO LISTEN TO ME,,,HOLD THIS!!!! 😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
