  • EDIT:
    I made a follow up video in which I admit I was wrong. I shouldn't of had just trashed the Grom before running it.
    I gave a bash and it has easily become one of my favourites. The little guy comes everywhere with me.
    This is a major letdown from Arrma.
    The Grom is....I have nothing to really say about it.
    It's just a letdown.
    You can get the same OR MORE from other brands for less money...

    Your opinion was set before you even opened the box 😂 these cars are great for the money. My 3 year old has ran through 5 batteries so far and has yet to hurt the car. Full speed into car tires curbs and anything else you can think of. I think they’re quality little cars

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah I'll give you that. And honestly, the things growing on me lol.
      Again, I still think for the money there's other better options. But hell, for a quick little trunk basher it's not that bad

      Completely agree! I made a homemade obstacle course in my basement over Thanksgiving weekend. My Grom fell from heights of as much as 3 feet and hit the concrete floor more times than I’d like to admit and I’ve broken nothing! This car is well worth the price and durable as hell!

    The problem with WL toys is I can't walk into my local hobby shop and get replacement parts.

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  8 месяцев назад

      Can't do thay with half the LHS I have around me. Either way I have to wait for them to order parts. And I'm talking Traxxas or Arrma.
      And realistically speaking; I do more online shopping than going into stores. So waiting for parts is no big deal

    I really wish you would’ve driven the truck before you started berating it! When you start trashing a product before you even open the box it takes all your credibility away from you! Despite what you said and looking at other reviews I would still purchase this truck over a WL TOYS vehicle mainly because my local Hobby dealer will carry parts for it in store and in stock!

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  9 месяцев назад +2

      I'll admit to that. I've been looking more into it and have decided to keep it. I'll probably be giving it a proper bashing later on today.
      As for parts, not all LHS will have them. Seems that LHS don't really carry as many parts as they used to.

    That being said you can get the wltoys brushless buggy for $115 and it has separate esc receiver and three wire servo so still cheaper than granite grom and brushless

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  8 месяцев назад

      My point exactly.
      Still, none the less. After having ran the Grom, it's really not that bad to have just as a trunk car.

    You need to actually give this thing a chance. I’ve had mine a few weeks and can’t get enough of it. It’s fallen off my homemade basement obstacle course to the concrete floor more times than I can count. Gone off the jump I made literally hundreds of times. Done hundreds of backflips off the little board I set up against the basement wall. And I’ve crashed it into god knows how many things in my basement. And so far I’ve broken nothing! My body has scuffs galore, but that’s it. Definitely can’t say that about ANY of those off brand junks I’ve owned in the past.

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yup. I did. And it took a beating with no issues. Made another video admitting I was wrong about it.
      I should of given it a chance before anything.
      Now it's sitting proudly in the collection with some upgrades.
      I still really dislike the clip less body though lol

    • @user-hg9sj9wz5v
      @user-hg9sj9wz5v 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@MexManRC that’s funny because the clipless body is one of my favorite things about it. 😂 Once you’re used to it, it pops on and off so easily.

    • @boduke9428
      @boduke9428 4 месяца назад +1

      @@MexManRCI hate clipless bodies on any fast rig or basher. I call my Xmaxx a self removing body. I'll die before I get to lazy to push 4 clips through holes before driving a RC. I'm just not that important.
      It's crazy to me that my Xmaxx has a clipless body but my supposedly scale trx6 has clips. Where they'd with great they don't use them and where they don't work they go clipless.

    Sheesh you gave it the most trash review before even bashing it? You are the first and only person I’ve seen that has given it a bad review before even driving it. There’s a plethora of parts for this thing and brushless option and all kinda of hop up parts. This thing is great.

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  7 месяцев назад

      Yes I did. And I made a second video of it retracting everything I said in this video. The Grom is a pretty decent rig. Not sure about upgrades since I haven't had to replace anything on it. Only thing I did upgrade are the front turnbuckles to some adjustable ones.

      Battery is charged and I'll be giving it a proper bash later.
      I'll probably end up keeping it as well.
      I always say thay EVERY RC has its pros and cons, and all I saw in this one were the cons.

    I don't understand the grom hate. Yeah it sucks the diffs are hit or miss and there not in stock. I gotta say arrma really messed up there not having the optional parts stocked up. Aside from the diff issues they seem to be very durable. I personally think arrma vehicles are easier to work on and fix compared to traxxas cars but that's my opinion. I think the grom is an amazing rtr car with an affordable price point.

    • @MexManRC

      Might be that people (me included) looked at the Grom and didn't really expect much.
      Yes, I disliked it and practically bought it as a "joke"
      But it has quickly become my favourite car to take with me in the trunk of my car or even saddle bags of my bike.
      I spoke way too soon when I made this video. The Grom is definitely a good little RC

    I am not impressed with this Arrma, a lot of hype because of the name, the HBX 16889A PRO is a lot better than this, Arrma should have tried a lot harder with this to compete in this size class! With the two in one Receiver/ESC it is at a lower level than the MJX Hyper Go. I will order a RC at the same level as this at a much lower price and prove that there is nothing special about this and that it is definitely not worth the price. The tool, LOL!!! - I can buy a very good brushed RC and a whole toolkit for less than the price of this Arrma.

    • @MexManRC
      @MexManRC  7 месяцев назад

      I agree completely.
      The Grom is an OK car. But for the same price you can get something with better components.
      People are blinded by a name that's it.
      I've decided to keep the Grom at the end. I gave my WLTOYS to my bud so he can work on it.
