    I think a lot of us buy those "oh it will do " or" it's close enough" items and don't end up wearing them because they're not exactly what we had in mind if you want a pair of grey trousers with pleats in a certain place and a Certain shade of grey and fit and length don't buy any pair of grey trousers hold out and find that one perfect pair that you will wear over and over rather than a pair where you are not really sure about them and they don't make you feel amazing wearing them take your time picking each piece of clothing and don't settle for it's close enough ❤

    Learning about fabric characteristics is key. You can tell how a garment will drape from its composition. For example, my tshirts need to be a cotton/lyocell mix or a modal mix. 100% cotton are often too stiff for my taste. A nice thin linen knit is currently my summer fave. It just adds instant class to a look.

    Great video. The other two things I would add about caring for clothes. Do you need to iron it? When I was working, I found I didn't have time to iron, so those clothes were always in the iron pile. I would say a good steamer and a good iron does help. You might want to invest in both along with a good ironing board.
    Pilling, I hate clothes that pill. Cashmere has that issue, so if I am too busy to depill my sweater I will have them dry clean. Just make sure you have a good cleaner who takes the time to do a good job.

    Excellent video. I never purchase polyester. I also have many pieces tailored and dry clean clothes as well. I do use my steamer so my closet always has fresh clothes that fit. Thank you for this very informative video.

    I enjoyed this list! I recently lost weight and have to purchase some new clothes. Actually just bought two items on line before I saw your video. Hopefully they will fit and look and feel good. I don’t have a lot of shopping options near me so I shop on line. I am trying to upgrade the quality of my items. I hated buying clothes for my heavier self so I refused to buy quality items. I knew I needed to lose weight for my health. Certain brands do fit differently.

      Thanks Sheryl! I hope the items you ordered work well for you. It is hard when there aren't a lot of shopping options nearby. But once you learn your brands that will help a lot. 😊

    My problem is a buy something online and it fits ok and the fabric is good then I keep it and then after a short time wash it and decide I could do better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🦋

    • @EricaBallStyle
      @EricaBallStyle  Год назад

      That is challenging Denise. Do you love it when you first try it on? Are you convincing yourself that you love it the first time you try it on? Follow the 7 second gut impulse "rule"- if when you first try an item on you need to LOVE it without question, anything other than that, I'd suggest sending it back.

    Polyester isn't always bad it holds its structure it doesn't fade in the wash it's durable so don't just not buy something because it's polyester or nylon or elastain they have their place and sometimes a cashmere mix a wool mix silk mix is better for you and your lifestyle you can often wash mixed fabrics yourself at home instead of going to the dry cleaners you need to have the time and money to take care of luxury fabrics so 100% cashmere isn't for everyone ❤

    Man, are you ever talking directly to me. I am trying on each and every item I own so I know what I have, what fits, and listing the obvious holes and things I can NOT buy any more of as I have bought the same pink sweater 5 times previously.

    I love a dramatic piece and being fashionable BUT if an item is designer, and all the influencers are wearing it, and it is impeccably made, realize that everyone will remember it and know exactly when you bought it. It might be better to save $3000 and buy a well made classic piece that will be just as popular in 10 years.

    Nothing wrong with rayon, but polyester is a big no. It’s just plastic. That white blouse you showed sure looked like polyester.

      Are you referring to the blouse I show at the beginning from L'Agence? It's a pale blush and it's 100% silk.
