    I so prefer this type of video over those haul videos! It really helps us understand how important it is to shop intentionally with quality and longevity in mind.

      The word "haul" is actually repellent to me, with its connotations of excess, which I was brought up to believe is vulgar. The hunt for a single, perfect item of clothing, that coordinates with much of my existing wardrobe, and then the planning and wearing of all the outfits I create, affords me much more pleasure than a pile of miscellaneous random items all jostling for attention. Like a child with too many birthday gifts, nothing is really appreciated and valued.

    My oldest piece is a black blazer in a suede-look fabric, bought in 1999! It was a great travel item, as it doesn't wrinkle, whether folded, rolled or just stuffed in a suitcase. It went into retirement for seveal years, because I felt the rather wide collar dated it, but I couldn't cull it because it held so many memories of great trips we'd taken together. I've recently pulled it back out, because one, I think the style is more in fashion again, and two, even if it isn't trendy, it's now "vintage" and vintage is trendy!

    Great video and high quality clothes you have! I also love the blush color that you showed and have many tops in that color. I never thought of having that color of purse! Such a good idea!

    I have some genuine leather or suede motos in different colors, but lately I’ve been more in the mood to wear my leather blazers and other jacket styles. I don’t really like edgy pieces on me, they are incongruous with my tiny frame and soft look. I have a black suede moto jacket. I bought it thinking the suede rather than smooth leather would soften the look, but have never once worn it in the 20 years since I bought it. I might get a black suede blazer instead, it’s a less tough look.

    Love these pieces! I would appreciate it if you could recommend some alternatives for the leggings and black pants for taller girls (I need at least a 32 inch inseam).

    I also love Equipment’s Slim Signature shirt, I love the two-pocket design, for one thing. The conventional advice for us larger-busted women is “no shirt pockets”, but I find the exact opposite is true. People see pockets, not big boobs, when we wear these. The worst tops of all are those that give a broad, unbroken expanse of chest.

    Hi Erica
    Great video. I too have items in my wardrobe for years. Some as much as 20 years. Who can toss a cashmere wool long duster. They always come back.
    I have a question I hope you can answer. I have an inverter triangle body, and a somewhat short torso. Tucking in tops is a big issue for me, unless the top is light weight and somewhat short. Like high hip. I can get away with a French tuck, sweater or sweatshirt, it just looks off. Again cropped, I use that word loosely, I am 64, but upper hip bone with a mid rise or high rise pant. Again I have a short torso, so super high pants don't work.
    Anyway what am I doing wrong with my proportions? I feel like I should be able to tuck more clothes in, or should I wear my tops longer?
    Thanks

    • @EricaBallStyle
      @EricaBallStyle  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your question Cheryl! When you have a short torso, high-waisted bottoms won't be the most flattering as it sounds like you already know. Mid-rise or even low-rise bottoms will help create the illusion of a longer torso. In terms of tucking in, a french tuck will work better with a. mid or low-rise bottom versus a full tuck. The purpose of the tuck is to define the waist. Other ways to do this without tucking that may create the appearance of a longer torso is finding tops and layers that are more fitted to the body and hit at the hip or below the natural waist and have a "finished" hem like you see in sweaters or blouses with a gathered bottom. I hope this helps!
      I am thinking of creating a video series where women can submit their outfit pictures to me (with or without seeing faces) and I can comment on what works and doesn't. Would this be something that you'd like to see?

    • @cheryl3366
      @cheryl3366 Год назад

      Hi Erica,
      Yes I think a video series would be great. I think what drives most of us crazy is most of the time they don't talk about different body types and what works and what doesn't work. They just assume everyone can wear high-waisted top and french tucks. That has never worked on me. Fashion has to work for your body shape. Thanks for explaining your thoughts and confirming what I have noticed. I sew a lot of my own clothes so I can modify to make it work for me. I can get so picky that I can easily shorten a top by an 1.5 inches to make it hit my high hip or add a dart to make it more fitted. @@EricaBallStyle

    Great pieces except the black textured jacket and the black denim shorts. Just too casual for a mature woman.
