Im trying this now but i am a bit lost on color b v stitches. Am i supposed to go from 16 stiches to 18? How to i get back to 16 with the white then? Ive tried it twice now and every time I do row 9 I end up with 18 stitches

I need help, I followed the pattern and I am using the same size crochet hook but my squares came out as 4 by 4. Is there any way I can fix this?
You can go up a hook size if you want. My squares came out a bit smaller too but I don’t mind since it’s a blanket
I made two panels so far, I am super confused about the fact that the second panel won’t have a long tail for sewing it to the third panel. If we are only using the white yarn to seam together, how will panel B and C come together? The tail always ends on the left side for each panel. Instructions unclear. Pls help
Are you also having issues with stitch count? Whenever I do the double v it adds stitches. I did it 3 times and each time it made my stitch count go from 16 to 18....if you had this problem, how did you fix it?
