Owner of a B2:Dusk here. Judging by the FR alone, the Aful looks even better tonality-wise tbh. That ~8KHz peak on the Dusk can be agressive at times, I usually EQ it down.
that 8kHz is probably the coupler's resonance, most likely. I think it's the "compressed" quality of the BA used, which evidently they are high in distortion, especially when played at a high loudness level. but when you play at a moderate loudness level, it's not even peaky but smooth. it also sounds better with wide bore ear tips like Azla Sedna Earfit Light
@@barbasour it is, but it also resonates inside ear cannals, mine is actually around 7,6KHz with the Dusk, but same peak. I do use it with Spring tips for a deeper insertion.

It's nice to get some competition with more appropriate price brackets. Hopefully in the upcoming months, we will get Variations level sounding IEMs at $200 below. I'm one to be hopeful considering how much the IEM market has evolved in the past months alone wherein an IEM with poor/meh tuning gets obsolete right there and then.
I agree mostly with this review. I've had the Performer 5 for a couple weeks now and can say the sub bass is addictive. I got this IEM for $162 and it's pretty spectacular for under $200. This is a sub bass IEM, period. Still somewhat neutral sounding but a little laid back and not as airy in the treble region. If you are a treble person, explore the blessing options. You can listen to this iem all day without fatigue. Still great vocals and details though. Especially for the price. If you want more, just as Timmy says, go up to the $500+ IEM's.
Timmy, How difficult are these to drive? Does the sound quality you talk about come through on the iPhone with an Apple dongle or do the need something stronger? Thanks in advance!!!
My endgame IEM’s ♥️ I loooove these soo much from the fit, comfort, design, and of course the sound. Honestly, half of the reason I bought it was for the name😂 it’s an Aful IEM😏
100% man, I have just been listening to these today myself, wow, they are friken killers.. Exceptionally good detail retrieval and imaging.. Feel like I've rediscovered music again with these things
With all due respect, the Performer5 only looks good on the graph. I was not able to connect with the sound however hard I tried. The Hiby Lasya is significantly better than this. Better controlled bass, much more open and transparent midrange, much better separation and imaging, a wider and more airy presentation with very good treble. The Lasya is a significant contender under $200 being just a single DD, but sadly it is totally flying under the radar.
okay, I'm loving my Kato, but I'm kind of craving the next step up.. Would this be enough of a jump or do I save up and head for a higher tier?? Decisions, decisions...
Very nice review! Unfortunately I can't decide between the Performer 5 and the Hidizs MP145. It would be important to me that the vocals are very close to the ear and that the whole thing has an intimate sound and everything sounds detailed. It should be operated with my Qudelix 5K, can you perhaps help me with the choice?
I recieved the Sa6 ultra n°156, very happy of the way it sounds. I was hesitating with the performer 5 that was just anounced but not available. So i choosed the ultra before all be sold. Is there a big difference between them ?

You and many others talk highly of this IEM but I would love to know which one would you'd choose if the Performer 5 and Dusk BOTH had a $220 price tag? Yes.... the P5 has more bass but with all things aside which one are you putting in a small bag for both electronic music and gaming?

Hey Timmy, I bought these based on your recommendation and I absolutely LOVE them. I even prefer these over my Monarch MKII and Kinera Nanna 2.0. What would be the “endgame” version of the Aful Performer 5? The 64 Audio Nio or something like that?
I tried both and for me the Timeless AE was not what I was looking for. I had trouble with the fit, and the bass didn't feel as immersive for me as the P5 was. I'm returning the AE.
