SA6 MK2 or P8? Which one is considered better between the two? Which do you prefer. Can the SA6 MK2 be EQ’d to bring the vocals forward if needed? Thanks
one comparison you could've included here is with the Softears Studio 4, which surprisingly graphs fairly close to the Performer 8. I have yet to try the Performer 8 but if I have to guess, The Studio 4 would still be worth saving up for if you want that smoother overall presentation. I'm more of a hybrid IEM person so I'll probably purchase the Performer 8 for the DD bass. Guess this is my end of year purchase hehe. Great video as always, Timmy 🙏
TLDR: Studio4s are better. Depends on your budget, consider the Orchestra lite. I've tried both along with the Orchestra lite (and more than I would like to admit). The orchestra lite and performer 8 are surprisingly close. p8 definitely has more details, but if I'm not fully focused on them, it's pretty hard to tell. Tough to justify the upgrade from o lite considering how much cheaper it is ($270 vs $400, including tax, off amazon in the US). Studio4s are straight up better than both (as they should be, given they cost around 490). Are they 220 dollars better than the o lite? Hard to say. O lite is like 85% there. Are Studio4s 90 dollars better than the p8? Yes, definitely worth the extra if you're only going to buy one. It's really about one's perspective and budget. Also you don't need to worry about the bass on the Studio4s, doesn't sound like BA bass at all. The quality and quantity are great. Hope this helps in some way.
The Performer 8 is having somewhat similar tuning strategy to that of 64Audio scooping out the pinna gain region, this surprisingly brings magic to the mids especially female vocal sounds smooth and angelic. I can't wait for your detail review and verdict on the latest U4s.
@jasonbrown31485 @troint Is it that good? Looking to get one and idk if it's the best choice as I listen to classical and jazz and some hip hop I heard that they are good in this regard. But I also play some fps games and watch movies is they are also good in this?

Great video! Love the review. I asked something related to this in another video you posted, but I am curious about your concern regarding the bass and articulation. I am a professional musician, and I want to replace my high end JBL wedge monitor (PRX618m) with an IEM. I don't play hip hop or heavy hardcore "bass music" so how would the P8 be for an IEM for live performance with my band, solo, and with backing tracks? To give you more info, I am mostly into classic rock, and lots of melodic lead guitar and lots of vocal harmonies. You complained about the bass in your review, but in your opinion, if I am sending a monitor feed to this IEM, via wireless body-pack, would you think that I can make the bass sound better by simply going into that aux send (monitor feed) on my mixer, pull up my 31 band graphic EQ, and just notch up the sliders from 60 Hz to 250 Hz? I have 7 virtual sliders on my iPad mixing surface for my Mackie mixer, and it seems to me (I would have to play with it) that I might be able to compensate for any lack of bass by boosting some or all of those sliders 2-5 db or so and see how it sounds? You have me thinking that the P8 is a better entry than the P5 for live performance, wedge-monitor replacement?
Timmy, I have the Moondrop Kato and enjoy them very much. I am looking for a similar sound but with better detail, resolution and separation. I do like the bass quality of the Kato. Do you think the performer 8 or the B3 would be a significant upgrade? Which one would be a better compliment to the Kato? Thanks in advance!!!
I have the kato and the b3. B3 is a definite upgrade in every way. If you like the kato tuning, go for the b3. The p8 seems to have more relaxed, recessed vocals and not as much bass
Do you think there will be any budget IEMs with this type of tuning? And will it sound like a banger too or the single DD won’t be able to handle it as compared to the current neutral tune that most follow.
I'm looking forward for that too! I think the Hexa is the closest one but it's still not there. I hope the companies stop making shouty budget iems based on the biased harmanish hype. If you can make shouty budget iem you can make more smooth pinna gain with the same tech.
