Going to receive my pair soon if anything goes well. I have high hopes for this set, after I'll pull the upper treble down 6-7 dB and make a couple of adjustments in the bass and upper mids as well via EQ. Your impressions are encouraging, and are one of the main reasons I went for it. Hopefully I'll have more luck reigning in it's treble than I had with DUSK.
The Hype series numbers are indicators of the number of BAs paired with their isobaric set DDs (so far, anyway). Hype2 has 2 BAs, Hype4 has 4, and for some reason they needed 10 for the Hype10.
I wish Crin did a video about some IEMs that are somewhat popular, but aren't on the list - and why. For example, I have my YanYin Canon II and I LOVE it, but I would also like to know if Crin has any observations about it, even an alternative with similar tonal balance and better overall experience.
@@torjones-7 I can compare to other Thieaudio sets in my rotation; Monarch MK2, and MK3, Oracle MK1, Prestige LTD, and Hype 4. I prefer the Origin to all of those sets; it has stronger, more impactful bass, clean and present mids, and the treble is tuned perfectly to my preferences -- it is extended, but not emphasized to the point of sibilance. It feels like the set that the Hype 10 should've been. I say that as someone that purchased both to test, and was disappointed that the Hype 10 did not provide anything substantive over the Hype 4 (like an increased bass shelf or more refined treble).
@@torjones-7it’s soundstage is about the same or if not larger than um mest3’s, with the bass being too warm that kinda nerfs it’s technicalities, lower midrange suffers from the prominent bass if you want clean mids just go for mest. I find Hype 4 brings lot of note weight which many IEM especially Herman flavoured IEMs are lacking. This is especially great for genres like Metal or Hard Rock etc.
I love how my Hype 4s sound, and the resin shell is a plus in my book. A lot of IEMs fall out of my ears, but the Hype 4s are light and shaped well so they stay in even if I shake my head around. My only complaint is QC. One of the IEMs on my first pair started rattling after a month and a half. The store sent them in for warranty, Thieaudio said couldn't reproduce the issue. I showed the store that it was still rattling, and after asking to warranty them again Thieaudio still said they couldn't reproduce the issue but finally sent back a new pair. The two pin connector on one of them is a little loose, but it's good enough.
The Hype 4 goes toe to toe with the Myer SL-41 in my list for the best iem in my collection (that I sold). What makes it stand out is the bass layering, there is strong impact yes but there is also nuances and that alone is really impressive. I'm treble sensitive, Ba timbre sensitive, not a fan of harman tuning and yet.. HYPE 4 manage to avoid all those problems (the BA used for the upper treble is energetic but surprisingly smooth) My nitpicks are the flimsy connector, the non-modular cable and stiff eartips.
I can only find it for an equivalent of $360 plus $16 import fees 😔 Had to go with a used set for in a color that I hate. Hope the sound will be worth it!
I like how the treble in the Hype 4 gives that spiciness. You know how Christian Bale does that look as the psycho Bateman? Yeah, that's the Hype 4 for me when I listen to it.
So eager to hear their take on the new Thieaudio Origin and whether or not the new Bone Conduction Driver is a gimmic or actually a nice addition that can actually give a "feel your music" experience to their lineup 🤔
Got to try out so many top of the line iems at CanJam and I own a set called the Prismatica. Honestly, I think the Hype 4 offers like around 90 percent performance of the many kilobuck sets I've tested. Really impressive honestly
I own the Hype 4 and am saving up for the Prestige LTD. Can say that I'm actually quite happy with the hype 4 but the treble can be a bit too harsh for me. So yeah, the airiness of the LTD is what really impressed me while I tried it. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
I have/had both Oracle OG and Monarch MK3. The cable on the Hype 4 seems similar to the Oracle OG one, which in mh opinion is much better than the one found on Monarch MK3, Prestige LTD, Oracle MK3.... because this "upgrade" cable is modular....but the interchgable plug connects very weekly and it can fall off very easily.
I have a budget under 400 USD (new or used are all good), my preferred genres are pop, jazz, ballad, rap, and orchestra. I also play fps games on occasion. what should I get if I like vocal, detail retrieval and high quality bass (don't need a lot of bass). Thanks

I think the 4 is worth it, but for you it may not be I enjoy the treble it gives it air and the Soundstage is better. The 2 sounds similar but with out the air and the bass feels slightly different but I think it depends on the unit.
My top sounds much more spicy than the hype4. The treble on the Hype is up top so to me it just makes the sound stage better but on the top it's Spicer in other areas. I love both but the top sometimes can be fatiguing to me where as I can listen to my hype for for hours.
@@donth826 I bought top 2 days ago. It is fine but like you said it gives me fatigue as well. I tried the Hype 4s a few weeks back and had to return them. I do not have small ears or ear canals but I could not stand to wear them for even 10 minutes. I did like the sound. I bought a set of open box IE600s and I am a very happy camper. This trend toward gigantic earbuds is something I just don't understand.
Nah, hype4 bass is good 2,10 just boost the treble region to add the lightness for the bass, aside from the overall boosted bass also, that give the bass the boomy, the authority, the space... what they described it: muddy

Opinion on Hype 4 bass performance seems to be very polarizing. It’s either love it or hate it. I have never seen anybody say it’s just ok
Because there's no slam. It's pillowy bass. This can be fixed with analouge bass boost like on my ifi hip dac 3.

I use foam tips, and EQ it to the Dusk default wavelet file. So proper respect for Crins expert tuning. No problem with treble than.
