    That's exactly what I did. I have two filters. When one gets dirty I just swap it out. Clean the old one and let dry. Then it goes into a plastic bag. When I'm ready to swap again I'll oil it and install. It's also important to note not to let the cleaner dry on the dirty filter. Clean and rinse immediately.

      Same too on my K&N cold air intake filter. The aFe comes in a gray color but in this video, it seems like you can change it to whatever color you want it to be.

    I've been using oil filters for years. You hit on what I do at 4:32 I keep at least 2 filters. One clean oiled up in a sealed plastic bag. I just swap them out clean and oil the used one so it's ready for the next time. Easy as pie with little down time for my car.

    I was always taught to rinse your filter from the inside out. Pushing all dirt and contaminates away from the filter.

    Your supposed to use a certain amount of oil for the size of your filter. Must filters will say how many grams to use. Surprised they didn't mention that. And it's better to oil every pleat down the length of the filter one at a time and work your way around.

    What does the oil do for the filter? And if you didn’t have excess to that oil would you recommend waiting to clean it?

    I used to have a K&N filter on my previous car.. My 2015 has the steeda. can I use the K&N cleaning kit that I already have for my filter, or does it have to be specifically this one?

    • @steedaautosports
      @steedaautosports  Год назад +2

      You can use the K&N filter cleaning kit. The color of the oil is the only difference.

    How important is it to reapply the oil to the filter once it's dried out? What's the significance of doing that?

    • @cwlodarczyk
      @cwlodarczyk Год назад +5

      Oilied filters typically have larger mesh sizes to flow more air. The oil helps to capture dirt that might otherwise make it through into the engine

      Some filters are oiled...others are not.
      Make sure you know which one you're using as you may only need to clean and dry it.
