This is a devaluation of star alliance
I hope this doesn’t start a trend!
Love these coffee breaks! Keep it up.
Thanks for the info + video!
This does not make United Mileage Plus miles more valuable nor more desirable. It is merely a devaluation of Aeroplan, Turkish, Avianca, Asiana, etc. orchestrated by United. Since the blocked United flights can not be booked with those partners, it might be more likely that the best price to book these flights might be award flights through United Mileage Plus, but not at more value, unless United drops the award price.
So did United come out with news on blocking flights with partners? Or Is this just one of those years where there is substantially less awards available ?
For example 2 yrs ago emirates was more easily bookable through aeroplan now this past year there has been rare instances of availability, my guess is it’s similar to this just the ups and downs of award availability every year with specific partners
No, we're familiar with availability ups and downs -- this is not just a matter of less awards being available. Historically, any awards in "X" fare class and "I" fare class (I'm not talking XN awards) have been labeled as "Saver" on the United website and have been available to all Star Alliance airlines. However, that recently changed: there are many flights with "X" or "I" fare classes available that are labeled as "Saver" awards that are NOT bookable through partner airlines. That's a major shift in United policy. It's not a matter of no saver seats being available, it's that United is now only sharing a subset of saver seats.

What was the explanation for 1.5 CPP for Amex MR using business plat MR for United?
You can get a flat rate of 1.54cpp for UA econ flights if UA is your selected airline for your biz plat. If the points cost was 20k on the amex travel portal, you'd get 35% of that back, which is 1.54cpp.
Good Morning,
Could you do a video about when points post to accounts based on each company? I feel like chase is pretty straightforward, the day after your statement, you get the points you don’t even need to do the minimum payment. Amex seems to be after you make a minimum payment. Capital one seems to be a day or two after you buy something and one got no idea about Citi I’ve been waiting for a while. So I was hoping you could put all of the data into a video.
You've basically got it all there -- most issuers post rewards after your statement cuts, Amex requires that you pay the bill before you get the rewards, Capital One posts 2-3 days after purchase. Bilt posts the fastest -- usually the day after making a purchase. I similarly don't know about Citi because I haven't paid attention. Barclays AA has been a couple of days after statement (the miles need to go to AA and AA needs to display them, so I'm not sure it's standardized there precisely).

@@frequent-miler thank you!
I’m excited for when an episode goes longer than 20min and so they just have to cut the video mid sentence😂
So, do you think getting United Club card is a good idea? I was looking at getting it (and paying AF with 30k miles each year).
Idk he just cuz it’s value went up doesn’t mean it’s good
I wouldn't get it because of this change but if you value United club access the card makes sense

normally y’all do a good being neutral. But bad take by Greg, his analysis in United: it’s kind of a good thing, makes their pts more valuable/useful, get a United card/MORE valuable🥴. Cmon man!😒
Not only is United “expanded award availability” saver super limited, THEY still control the cost alone.
Anyways, this new policy change is openly anti-consumer (and anti-partnerships) which is why u should not support it. This is a bad time to fly United as shareholders and corporate officers are tightening their grip on dividend policies, due to a problem they (and Boeing) created 👋
Can you explain how it’s valuable? I feel like now I can’t use Aeroplan and others
I'm sure that somewhere along the way I said something like "don't mistake this for me saying 'good job United' -- not at all"
I didn't say "it's kind of a good thing"! It's unequivocally negative. The idea that United miles became more useful (at the expense of other points becoming less useful) is not a positive thing to say about United, it's just a side-effect of a negative thing that happened. If I failed to convey that clearly... my bad.

@@williamfeliciano6003 Because of the blocking, United miles became more useful for domestic flights precisely because other points became less useful. It's NOT a good thing, it's just what happened.

You did not listen well. That's not what he said.
