I've been waiting for this list of recommendations for a long time! Thanks so much for confirming most of my biases! I have been painting for almost 25 years and loved using Aura Matte on interiors when i was buying it for ~$50 a gallon. Since they re-formulated it and raised the price I have tried just about everything available locally for interior walls and am happy with Regal. I couldn't ageee more about Advance. It is wonderful. I have really learned a lot from your channel over the years, and thank you for all the great content you've put out there!
@@jerrymosier9995 If it’s already painted just do one coat of Sherwin Williams duration or emerald exterior paint. If it’s not painted do two coats it’s self priming.
I’ve heard some complaints with the reformulated Regal Select. Issues with sagging, and for me, it will not cover in two coats what it normally would before it changed. I quit using it for that reason. If I’m paying that kind of money per gallon it should perform better. Great video Chris!
Used Benjamin moors scuffx chantilly lace on my kitchen cabinets filled a lot of the wood grain and it looks like new afterwards, definitely a lot better then their other “ben” line which I used on my trim and baseboards wish I would of used scuffx instead on them but I’m very happy with the kitchen
Resilience = Latitude now at least at Sherwins here in Oregon. They updated it, Resilience was great but Latitude is amazing. I live on the Oregon coast, it’s perfect for the climate here. Would love to hear your opinion on it. 👍🏽 Your the man and hands down the best on RUclips brother! 🤙🏽
Latitude is good on siding & trim but has bubbled on 2 of my front doors (in dark colors in direct sunlight.) Call backs for repairing doors eats profits. Sum: great paint just don't use it on your doors in those conditions.
I do like superdeck by Sherwin-Williams. Its solid color product covers really well, considering it's thin. From my experience, the only problem I have with it is that it's not rainproof as early, compared to behr and valspar stains. I had three times where the rain ruined my stain job, then I had to go back and do it. All three of those times I used superdeck. Also, I noticed that superdeck remains sticky for a day or two afterwards, unlike behr stains.
Thanks for the high quality videos! Do you recommend Arbor Coat for painting a rock fireplace, or a different product? The fireplace doesn't have any coatings on it yet.
Awesome. Am a paint technician from 1986 and have a vast experience on industrial, Automotive, Decorative paints. Am a trainer in epoxy application and trouble shooting. I use Graco machines and all I paint calls for more jobs for me. I pretty much like and follow your sessions and hope to have such one here in Zimbabwe. Great work guys keep going.
I am planning to paint my exisitng kitchen cabinets. Currently, it has a brown stain with lacquer finished. What type of paint and primer you can recommend? We like to change it to white.
I use only Behr paint ($45 a gallon) when it's my choice for a job, as I feel it covers well and is reasonably priced. Anytime I've used any Sherwin Williams paints (Average $70 a gallon, maybe a dozen times), it takes me twice the time to paint the same area sizes. Not a fan of SW. I use a roller, so perhaps that's a factor.
Can you talk about how to paint attached blinds and sliding doors where you cannot remove them from the tracking / window. Basically how to paint fixtures where you don’t want to get paint inside the tracks and on the blind strings etc. how to mask and prep and paint those type of tricky things
I've been using S.W. Latitude in Arkansas with the rain and humidity it is also a life time warranty and ots been great. The satin is on the shiny side but it hasn't let me down.
I agree to most of the paint on your list I also use Advanced by Benjamin Moore on most of the work I do and I know repaints look much better than pre-Primeed trim and doors when brushing and rolling.
Question, Chris. You said you used to use a Flood product for decks. I’m assuming you’re referring to SWF-Solid when Akzo-Nobel owned Flood before PPG bought the Flood name. The SWF-Solid product used to contain E-B Emulsabond and was the best solid stain product on the market in my opinion. Now it’s a reformulated, 100% acrylic product and it does not contain Emulsabond. You have to buy it separately and add it. What are your thoughts on the newer Flood Pro Series solid stain, and why do you no longer use Flood solid for decks?
How difficult is it to spray 2k poly with your doors hanging? 308 tip obviously. I’m just mortified of runs. Plus I want a factory finish. I just bought your hanging system but I’m super nervous it’s gonna be a big fail. Due to runs and sags. Any advice?
Regal select matte on all my interior walls unless they want eggshell, resist hand prints, incredibly consistent finish even on a 3x base and touches up incredibly well even after years of wear.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Chris! It's awesome that you're sharing all your years of experience I've used most the products you mentioned and totally agree and the ones I haven't tried I'll take your advice and check them out. Have a blessed 4th to you and yours.
I'm no pro painter, but owning a couple apartment building, I have to repaint apartments from time to time. I've found my go to paint brand when it comes to interior, Signé Krome Luxura, covers better than many primers I've tried before, so no need anymore for using primers and the least overspray I've ever experienced. The only downside is it's made in Quebec and hard to get if you live elsewhere.
I'm a painter and live in Québec, i just looked it up but they don't have retailers here in Gatineau. I've been using products from MF paints, they also have great products made here in Québec! 👍
Love your videos and I've learned a lot from you. Do you get PPG paints? I use a lot of their products and would love for you to review some of their products. Ultralast for interior and Permanizer for exterior.
Friendly Tip! Hey Chris, Nice to see you talking paint! I use aura last week on an interior. Did not like it. As I was cutting in along the top of the wall, the paint started sagging/drips. Never seen that before in over 40 years of painting. And the price$$. Won't use Aura again. Flood products need E-Bond in my opinion. A100 is my go to paint for Exteriors. My 2 cents! As I speak I am painting an exterior with 7 different substrates and 7 colors with BEHR paints. I just heard that Behr is coming out with an Exterior dynasty paint. A lot of the surfaces are covering in 1 coat with Behr. SATIN is my go to finish. Very Impressed and the price. Cheers!
