All nasty or negative comments will be deleted.
I saw Sammy in Las Vegas years ago. I had not slept in 5 days and this was the night before I left. I was falling asleep and he came on the stage. I opened one eye and could have touched him! I was fascinated by this mans charisma. He was unbelievable. Fantastic talent.
Hadn't slept in 5 days? Wow what's your RUclips channel?
Sammy has a wonderful, beautiful mother!

I love that she refers to Sammy as "her child." They're always your baby. God bless her.
V. 1954 I loved that too. She reminded me of my great grandmother who referred to her children (my great aunts or uncle) that same way “My child” when she spoke of one separately. Ms. Davis was born in the same year 1905 as my great grandmother. When I read that I understood why she reminded me of my Granny.😊
She never raised him. His grandma Rosa did. He didn’t meet this women until he was 12.
Sammy Davis Jr looks so much like his Mother and his Dad❤️
His mother loves him! And she’s right they threw away the mold with Sammy!
Ladies and gentlemen: The mother of the greatest entertainer ever!
No bull, Jerome- Sam was the BEST at EVERYTHING. Thanks for tuning in, hope you enjoyed the interview. We shot this interview for our 1999 A&E Biography of Sinatra and the Rat Pack. It won the Emmy that year for sound mixing... and was nommed for two others- best nonfiction series and to me personally for picture editing.

Word!
she was a smart woman, streetwise, was nobody foolin' her
+marinho marins Thank you for watching, and for your kind comment. She was truly one of a kind, huh?
***** i enjoyed all 5 videos and i'm a huge fan of sammy, and i agree with sammy's mother that sammy was the better singer of the three ,thanks again for the videos
+marinho marins We produced the 1999 Biography of The Rat Pack- there are lots and lots of fun and rare Sammy Davis clips on our channel, please take a look! here is something that we found in the National Archives, Sammy's tour of Vietnam in 1972:

***** okay i will check 'm out right now ,thanks
+marinho marins Hope that you've enjoyed watching!
The reporter asked her who the best man was in sammy's wedding, already knowing who the best man was...Some ppl ask such crazy questions lol
+Darnell Toliver It's a prompt. We're the reporters, this interview is our property. we shot Sammy's mom for our 1999 A&E Biography of the Rat Pack- which won the Prime Time Emmy for Sound Mixing, and was nommed for Best Nonfiction series, and myself for Best Nonfiction Picture Editing.
I would like to see the edited interview..just to compare.. what is real and what is not.. that chain thing .. lord...at that age.. the interruptions had to be confusing.. Mom did a great job... :-)I do like hearing his mom talk about their life.. all people of that era speak about the times they lived in...
Patsy Ettienne agree, this cut is very irritating, I’m feeling bad for her, cuz I kno it irritated Mrs. Davis, still, grateful for the interview

She was a strong minded woman.
He is her son.
I love when the question is asked at around 5:13, that people have said of all the people in the Rat Pack, that Sammy had the most energy, and Mrs. Davis proudly says, "Well, of course!" Very sweet and so true. He definitely had the most energy. A bona fide entertainer and the ultimate cool cat. Mrs. Davis was fierce. Thanks for these wonderful interviews, Ms. Langer.
Thanks for tuning in and commenting, glad you enjoyed it.

@@soapbxprod nice interview but some answers to your questions are jumped.
Funny and smart like her son!!!
Black is truly beautiful, beautiful woman.
She was Cuban
@@grajalesmintThere are black Cubans.
Yes Sammy‘s mom was fierce. This interview was awesome and I think he would have been proud. So with all of his friends. Rest in peace Sammy Davis Junior. And all of the rat pack. My kids don’t know about this type of entertainment and it’s sad. The boys she called her grandson I haven’t seen him in years. Thank you so much for this interview.
Thanks so much for your kind comment- we've been getting so many that are simply awful, accusing us of being "rude" and "unprofessional"... we interviewed Elvera only for her "standalone" statements to be used in a biographical documentary- it wasn't a "talk show" interview. The finished show was nommed for three PrimeTime Emmys, including best nonfiction series.
She is a beautiful woman
That's because she's Latina.
Cuz, I don’t want them knockin at my door lmao, love this Lady, rest in love
Smart sweet lady. God bless her.
All I know is she seems like a pure black woman.
her father was from Spain she is a mixed woman
I think she's Puerto Rican.
Detectivefiction she was cuban! Sammy in a interview admitted it
@@reinaguzman9030 Her father was a White Cuban of Spanish origin and her mother was of mixed Afro Latina, African American, and Native American Indian ancestry.
Abraham Isaac Mucius III several people claim NA ancestry and don’t have NA ancestry! i did a DNA test to prove it and it turns out i am 27% Native American! I am sure though she is mixed she was very lightskin
I like her! She had a youthfulness about her, a lot of personality.
SO NOW WE KNOW !! SAMMY DAVIS JUNIOR LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE HIS MOTHER !!! MISSES DAVIS ,......... YOU ARE THE MOTHER !!!!!!!....
MS DAVIS....YOU ROCK!
I never realized Sammy Davis was not raised by his mother until this interview.
Yeah if you watch Sammy interviews he says this but there wasn't any bad blood between them
This is my 1st time seeing his mother after hearing stories about her
No, she didn’t tear him. He didn’t meet her until he was 12. He didn’t want to be with her then. He loved being with his dad and Will. Rosa B Davis (grandmother on father side) raised Sammy until her death in 1966.
It could have been a great interview but the sensitivity to noise was ridiculous.
Our show was nommed for three Prime Time Emmys (winning for Sound Editing). That's what it takes to win. Who's ridiculous now?
@@soapbxprod Sorry didn't mean to upset you, congratulations. It was difficult to hear the back and forth while his mother was talking. Forgive my two scents.
@@cautumn1 Cents... but you did upset me. I uploaded this interview as raw footage to be shared with everyone- recently I have been bombarded by ugly comments from complete idiots who have never done anything...
@@soapbxprod Quit acting like a self entitled brat. You fucked up the interview. Before you do any more interviews I hope you do your homework first. Good luck.
I'm curious what you now (in 2015)think about the street noise in these videos? I'm referring to the interruptions vs. the street noise...(no offense). I think, at least on youtube, its sounds okay/acceptable. Thanks again for posting!
Wow Sammy looked just like his mom!!💕
She's very sweet !!!
This is 2021 and I’m 42 years old and I’m tired of them answering questions over and over again 🙄So I know his mom is like ah come on!!
I’m not liking some things the interviewer says. Referring to him as Sammy as if she knew him personally, never addressing him by his Sir name “Mr. Davis” and the comment “He did a lot of things”
This isn't a talk show interview- we shot it for "standalone" statements from Elvera. That's why we shot multiple takes while keeping the camera rolling.
soapbxprod Perhaps you should put this in the description. Now knowing the nature of the interview, the questions and interruptions make a little bit more sense. I will admit it did seem rather rude to me, before seeing your description. This video showed up in my recommendations somehow, I have no idea, so I had no knowledge about you or the channel. Based upon the title, I expected to hear a mother talk about her famous child, I didn't care to hear about the rest of the rat pack. It seemed that she didn't care to either, but now I know why the interviewer persisted. I don't think most of the commenters intend to be mean. Okay, some do. I think our perspective may be skewed, due to a lack of knowledge about your business. Putting the information in the description, may help a bit. Thank you for giving me my first introduction to this wonderful lady, who happens to be, Sammy Davis Jr.’s mother.
The interview they had so the mother do was good but they ask her the same question
Thank you for such a gem. Mother of the greatest showman.
Why is she badgering her about the mob? Asking some of the questions over and over.
We shot this interview for a biography of Sinatra and the Rat Pack, not a biography of Sammy.
soapbxprod I can’t tell, but for the most part I enjoyed it, listening to his mother and the history she shared.
rip Sammy davis jr
We have a lot of Sammy Davis clips on our channel, including footage from the 1960 and 62 Summits at the Sands... thanks for tuning in.

Did Sammy ever talk about his Cuban ancestry privately.
Why does she remind me of Yeda Fran’s grandmother from the Nanny?
You're right ✅
Might be just me, but the interviewer and videographer are very off putting. Elvera is cool.
Great subject witness to history.
All the interruptions.
Lovely Woman.🥀♥️🇩🇰🇺🇸🦅🌅
@Luke Sacher do you recall the address of the apt. building where Elvera Davis lived?
Hello Ellen: 370 East 76th Street (corner of 1st Avenue), Apt. A808
Wowza, you don't disappoint! I'm fascinated with locational history and since I live close, I'm going to trot over to that neighborhood and have a look at that building.Thank you and I love your videos-they're all treasures. Do you know the address of Roddy McDowall's Malibu Beach house?
His kids barely ever saw him as adults that's what they said
Sammy Davis part Latina mother. He used to say she was like Puerto Rican from New York strong temper. He was right. My wife is like this. PR. I dont mess with her. They respond worse than Italians. LOL.
She was actually Cuban. Said she was Puerto Rican so that would not hurt his record sales.
Where in Cuba from? Nowhere. She was born in NYC around PR's and grew up around PR's and married a PR. What more PR you want that to be?
outwiththem Elvera Sanchez was born in New York City to Luisa Valentina (née Aguiar; February 14, 1884 - October 5, 1996), a Cuban immigrant, and Marco Sanchez, who was from Spain. via Wikipedia
Ignorant you don't repeat you just go on with interview
Elvira "Baby" Sanchez.
I didn't mean to be one of the village idiots but sometimes people (me) can be insensitive.
don't sweat it! :)
W😊W she have Nola spirit 💚💛💜💚
all the crap he went through fucking no need of it great lady
She was afro cuban.
The interviewer wanted the dirt. Momma wasn't haven't it.
No he did not do a lot of things. # rude
Cute top
All superstars play around what is her problem
Sammy mother was part white?
Did she ever ask what was Elviras ethnicity
They assumed she was black.
@@joseph9531 Puerto Rican
