@@MauriatOttolink well tbh I didn't really get to see the entire audience....
Nch Croy.
He played golf as well as all that lot. Somebody asked him what was his handicap.
He is said to have replied "I am a one-eyed, black Jew."
It seems that he WAS. But what a stunning talent...sheesh.
I think that within his show business circles he was well treated but when he was an unknown, he probably badly done to.

Well..Somebody might well find a black face to prove me wrong but on the whole, top black American world class artists played to predominantly white and adoring audiences.
I'm looking at the closing years of my own jazz career and we can never be accused of ignoring black players...We hardly ever saw any! Audiences included.
Played in N.O. The Big Easy. The Black folks who contributed massively to this, the only Native American Art-form have simply lost interest in it.

I remember fondly as a child watching MR. SAMMY DAVIS JR. perform and I knew then that he was and still is “ONE OF THE GREATEST IF NOT THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED” , there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do.
