His mother was 92 in this interview. Wow! She looks Fabulous! She is pleasant, well spoken and her mind is sharp. "You all are trying to make me out a star". She is great! What a great mom. 💝💝💝💝 2019
Amazing because her mother only died a year before this interview
She is very pretty and sharp, but not a mom to Sammy.
Wow she didn’t even look 92 years old
She look bout 78-85 tops thats crazy
She died at 95 and her mother died at 112. If Sammy didn't smoke so much, might still be alive in 2021 at age 95.
She's still beautiful. I love her spirit. You can tell she didn't play. He looked like her.
This woman gave birth to a child in 1925 (SDJR.) In 1997 she looked amazing.
Jocelyn Carter: Wow, I never saw Sammy's mother before! Pretty lady and I can see Sam's personality in her. This was great!
Well thank you so much for watching, Jocelyn- and for your kind comment. We're very glad that you enjoyed it.
"The club Harlem was a groovy joint" that sounds like something Sammy Davis Jr would say
What a fabulous beautiful woman. This is my first time ever seeing her.
What a great lady. She is taking none of the crap from the interviewer.
I love her personality. Relaxed, telling it like it is.
Sammy definitely got his spirit from his mama.
+Beas Rose Thanks for tuning in!
@Truthful Spirit- Blue Heron the other one from the video you posted is his grand-ma (the mother of his dad)
He sure did! What a great momma!
Truthful Spirit- Blue Heron That was his grandmother in the 1955 video. His grandmother raised him.
She definitely is a lil spitfire
Her mother died at 106 years old in Puerto Rico. She died in Puerto Rico too. Sammy Davis mother was 92 years old here. Strong woman.
outwiththem half Puerto Rican ?
Her mother died aged 111 in 1996.
She's was not cuban but Puerto Rican. She is buried in San Juan, PR
@Karen B The prestigious program Biography also indicated his father was a Puerto Rican dancer from NYC. Look it up, the video is on RUclips.
@@BrownSugarBaby1992 Wow! Incredible how so much ignorance is out there. Read ppl read!

chloe winemiller Sammy's Mother was instrumental in the development of the political movement for the establishment of a state called Negrodum. She was a pioneer for black freedom and nationalism.

Sammy Davis Jr has a good looking mother I mean she's really nice looking Grace great gracious I just think she is a very good looking woman and she wanted her son to go to school but he was hanging out with a little hooligans but nevertheless she got a good sign some people like them or something but I'm glad you stood his ground you know what was going on so he could never say that people just forced him into nothing he did what he wanted to do and even if they did force him he did it Sammy Davis Jr was something else back then I said you know you can meet a bully and then they act like they're not bullies but down down the road you'll find out who is what cuz whatever's in you don't come out it shows up so no later yes it sure is my name what it is it's going to come out the Lord going to show you up you better be leaving on every lasting arms of Jesus Christ because if you don't you're messed up I thank Jesus for this you have a great day in the Lord in Jesus name amen
Sammy's mother is/was beautiful.
🇨🇺 Cuban
Yaass
@@willaragon6508 She hated Cuba, Never lived there. Loved Puerto Rico. Died there and is buried in San juan, PR.. Take that, liar..
Nice
Most awesome 90 - year old woman I have ever, EVER seen in my life! I can only hope and pray to reach her age and remain that vibrant. It's people like her who should be idolized in society and on social media.
I agree😘
UR SOO RIGHT IM 56 NOW AND I HOPE I HAVE HALF HER TENACITY AT 6O
Awesome person even if she was not Sammy Davis's Mother. She has a light shining through her for a senior.🤗
Yes, I agree.
No one should be idolized, just respected.
What a Sharp, Spry, Classy lady.
+Scotti Austin Thanks for tuning in and commenting, glad you enjoyed it.
Luke Sacher (shooter of the interview)
In an interview, Sammy said that his parents got divorced and his mom took his sister and he went with his father. He said he didn't meet his mom until he was 12. RIP Sammy Davis Jr. We miss you.
Love Mr. Davis' mother but, that interviewer not so much.
sorry to disappoint you.
Carole Langer
Valincia Pruitt. I agree his mom is gangster you can tell. But this interviewer is a littlte disrespectful i think .
I agree
Yeah. I agree.
I dont see a problem with it. This is raw footage for an archive. She has interviewed all the greats and created a record for us to remember the entertainment giants.
Mrs. Davis was a lovely woman. She looked fantastic, too -- _especially_ considering she was 91 in this video! She had a sharp mind.
Her Afro Latina/African American heritage gave her that spunky spirit.
Yes
Cuban
Puerto Rican
She was Puerto rican, he said it,stop making up nationality .
@@victorrojas5856 She wasn't Puerto Rican you dumbass
She was 92 years old in this interview
Thanks for tuning in and commenting, glad you enjoyed it.
Luke Sacher (shooter of the interview)
92 and so very beautiful, look at her beautiful smooth skin.
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
Thanks so much for watching and taking time to write a kind word!
Luke Sacher (shooter of this interview)
Y Ad blacks don't crack
She passed away 1 day after her 95th birthday on September 2, 2000.
I would love to sit and talk to his mom for hours. She has the facts. What a classy lady
The interviewer is horrible!
She reminds me of Mother Jefferson
Yep!
Yessssss!!!!
Yes
Omg yes I loved mother Jefferson !
Yuppp😂😂😂
Sammy looked like his mother and has some of the same mannerisms when they tell a story. Great interview. I never heard any stories about his mom. This is a first-for me.
Rita Baker ...Samuel George Davis, Jr. looked like both of his parents, mostly his father.
Same
Terrible interviewers for interrupting her 🙁
She was something, God if they don't look like each other
She should have been on the Golden Girls!! I didn't even know this woman, but I love her already! 😂
I agree, she would have a great addition to the Golden Girls.
Me in my next job interview.
Employer: So tell me a little about yourse...
Me: "Now c'mon, you doing this?"
(Chuckle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I DIED when she said that!!!
Pffft!
DAWG!!!😂🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤣

Priceless!!!
Groovy!!!
I like her
I like her
I like her!!!!
Cool momma!!!
Sammy was amazing!!!!
As good as it gets!!!!
Thanks a lot- very kind of you to say so! Blessings to you and yours. :)
I love her
That’s “Baby Sanchez.” 😘 She was a friend of my family. Such history. She is the mother of the greatest entertainer we’ve ever seen and the most talented member of The Rat Pack. [I don’t like that she made this interview about Frank Sinatra. With regard to the military, Sammy D. wrote in his autobiography about his experiences in the military, especially with the racism and violence. I read this book as a child.] Sammy Davis, Jr. was a brilliant and multi-talented / naturally talented person.
We shot this interview for a documentary about Sinatra and the Rat Pack- that's why we were asking so many questions about Sammy's relationship with Frank.
Hello! Can you tell us if her parents were Cuban or Puertorican ! Thanks
I've never seen or heard anything about her in the several bios I've seen on him. Only his dad and uncle. Thanks for the posting....
Well thank YOU so much right back! After so many nasty comments, your kindness is much appreciated.
His Dad raised Him after they Divorced.
She reminds me of the older Creole ladies in New Orleans!
Rahloh McDonogh yep. A feisty old creole woman who don't take no guff.
Yes she does!, doesn’t she though lol...she reminds me of my mom and grandma and great grand!
Yes
Yep
She was born to an Afro Cuban mother and to a European Spanish father.
Love her authenticity! Beautiful lady.
Great Lady!!!!
Lol momma don't play, lol they don't make them like this no more
What a flamboyant woman. Her description of Sammy and Sinatra's relationship was so intuitive. You see where he got his strength of character. You can see some of his mannerisms in her. First time ever seeing her.
I loved Sammy Davis Jr. And I loved his mother. Two of my relatives on my mothers side knew her and had nothing but good things to say about her. The Italians in my family are great people always has been . Enough said
Awwww she was looking good and her personality was on point ~ I love those kinds of grandma’s 😁she don’t mess around you’ll getcho azz told
I love this woman! Feisty and adorable!
Thanks for the post. I just finished watching an interview where Sammy Davis Jr. made her maiden name clear, Elvera Sanchez.
Thanks for watching, Chris.
Yes she's cuban
You tube makes life interesting this is nice.
Thanks for tuning in!
I agree. sometimes we find so wild subjects and then the unexpected like this. I loved Sammy davis. just plain loved him. always fun
this is the best interview what a nice mama and lady God bless little Sammy Davis jr
Thanks for tuning in!
Too bad this wasn't done by professionals, she is a wonderful lady and deserved better interviewers.
@@denisewilkes7486 I was thinking the same thing. All of the unnecessary interruptions and the irrelevant questions.
I've never seen his mother before. What a priceless video 🧡
Wooo... Sammy looked JUST LIKE his mama... 😂😂😂
It's funny how time flys h
It's funny how time flys, Sammy Davis Jr. Does not look like his mom at all
Probably like his dad
@@gloriaortiz4709 Yes he does. Outside of color, Sammy has her face. The nose ,the forehead, the jawline ,and chin. The ears as well. Sammy just didn't have her lighter brown skin color.
@@enolamsamoht Absolutely. I look like my mom but have my dads skin tone. My sister just the opposure.
I didn't even know the title of this video but I was like "dang she look like Sammie Davis Jr. Lol
What a with it, smart, likable gal.
Fascinating to see Sammy's mother at last!
@Karen B No doubt in my mind she would have told you to lighten up, gal!
@Karen B Take a tip from Sammy's classy mom and learn some manners.
And stop hating people, honey.
@Karen B Oh God you are hilarious!
Still laughing!
By the way, hate how they moved the vase, patting her head and interrupting her...just saying...
Yes, that was uncalled for....way to much movement on the interviewer's and her partners part. As the old saying goes, "leave well enough alone".
I think they are quite unprofessional and tacky.
Actually Frank Sinatra became a republican when President Kennedy didn't stay at Frank's Palm Springs home after he had done a major remodel for the stay. Kennedy stayed at Bing Crosby estate. This interviewer is absolutely awful...she just doesn't know how to interview at all. Geeze.
True
WONDERFUL WOMAN!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ This makes my day! What a piece of history!!!!
WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 73yo Aussie fan.
What a fantastic interview.
Elvera sure is a wonderful lady & very spirited.
Her son was the best ever entertainer of all time.
John Benn- Fair Dinkum, mate. Thank you so much and so happy that you are enjoying the raw unedited footage. SAMMY... Dean and Frank and Jerry were wonderful but SAMMY was a GOD.
She’s marvelous!!! Love this!!!
We do t have the OG grandma's like this anymore..
@ Kendall Anthony WE have A LOT of women like this today:women who abandon their children at a young age to pursue a career. Sammy's mom divorced his dad and gladly gave her ex full custody of their only child. She happily returned to dancing in the chorus, and later in her life tended the bar there. She led a wild life of irresponsibility for the most part, later giving birth to a daughter. It's Sammy's father who is to be commended, not this woman.
Shirley Pena spot on
@@shirleypena4133 You are a Rave Dubin etc moron !! So predictable
Amazing how many family members of Sammy Davis jr lived past 90. His father, mother , even his grandmother 112 all out lived Sammy.
TheMako990 Mako big city livin
Tammy Slade no dumb ass. He died of throat cancer. U moron
John Smith it could of been aids because he was hitting everything that moved ..god bless uncle Sammy
Show some respect, don't insult someone who isn't here to defend themselves.
God Bless Mrs. Davis. Such a Classy Lady!!
Sammy had the most show biz talent ever. We'll never see anyone to equal. His mama is proud. Jerry Miller
Mama is a feisty one. Lol.
that's a real strong woman, those women were strong, people mistake job titles & female leads for strong nowadays
What About I agree. And today that would be considered a bitch. Which sucks. We can't be strong and to the point without being labeled something🙄. Love his mama❤
Wow, what a treasure. I'm so glad you brought this to RUclips!!!
I loved so much seeing mrs Davis reliving a time gone by and seeing so very much of Sammy in her , her sharp wit, take no stuff, stand tuff way just like Sammy , I knew it was a struggle for him in that time as I watched him boldly become one of our favorite entertainers of our time
Thank You Sammy Davis Jr. for sharing your life with us
AND You Mama Davis for raising him bold. 💕
She said, “You gotta do something with that hair, Honey.” 🤣❤️👍 What a feisty beauty! No wonder she gave us Mr. Sammy. We thank you.
Thanks for tuning in and commenting, glad you enjoyed it.

soapbxprod 👍👍❤️👍👍
Too bad Sammy smoked...
SAMMY FAVORED HIS MOTHER.
Wow! It's Amazing, Sammy Davis Jr. did look like his mother.
Can't stop watching these clips. Smart lady indeed. Tumbs up for this interview.
What a great vibrant personality
Thank you so much for uploading this gem! Sammy sure looked like his mama! Even her mannerisms are so much like Sammy. What a beautiful lady for her age and one tough cookie!
Thanks for watching- and your kind words! :)
I wish I could have that Manhattan Apartment! 😎🍸
This interview is gold!
Thank you so much for posting this! Looking forward to watching the other parts. She was a hoot & nice of her to do have done this. Hopefully you will will add even more of these wonderful Rat Pack related videos. They are definitely appreciated by this fan... Thanks!
Thanks so much for watching and taking time to write a kind word!

Classic!! She said Trump ain't never at home with wife!!!!
What a vibrant classy lady! Thanks for sharing this video.
She said you need to fix that hair😂😂😂😂I love how she say my child
Wow, she got to meet Marilyn Monroe. ❤❤❤❤
I👏🏾 want 👏🏾 her 👏🏾 glasses!!!
Kkkkkkkk
It's funny listening to this it all sounds great and I can barely hear any traffic noise.
Yeah. I dont know why the hell these interviewers kept stopping and interrupting the interview.
And the extra trivial request to put the medallion inside her shirt! Soooo petty! Her (interviewer) interruptions are the most ABSOLUTELY vexing!! I hope she changed her career.
Oh wow! Thank you, great interview
You're very welcome- and thank YOU for watching! :)
Luke Sacher
Thank you for this. His mother is sharp and quick minded. She can be on my team and I love her. The interviewer is trying to bleed a turnip🤔. Life is good always take care of the elderly and give respect.
I really like this lady. She is really spunky and cute
💐💐💐🔆SAMMY DAVIS🥀🔆 LOOKED SO MUCH LIKE HIS MOTHER💐💐💐
Sammy's mom outlived the whole Rat pack.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩❤❤❤❤❤
I met Sammy at the Copacabana he was staring he was the headliner! I was with my sister and a couple of friends! We all had such a good time!! Love Sammy!!!😘
She is so pretty. A lot of 🔋 energy sept 3?? 2020 Monday
Sharp Womem🌷
SInatra hated how Sammy was treated. Sinatra paved the way for SAmmy to have a career and be treated with more respect than other black actors, singers, dancers at the time.
Amazing how good she looked!!!
I see where Sammy Davis Jr got his style from! What a success!
She and my grandfather actor Emmett Babe Wallace, received the lifetime achievement award just before they both passed . He always said she was a real lady
She has that latin spirit!! Beautiful lady
Thanks for your lovely comment
what a tough lady if i ever seen one! love her ....ain't it jus amazin how time fly tho
Elvera Sanchez Davis was the daughter of Marco Sanchez and Luisa Valentina Aguilar. Marco Sanchez was a Hispanic immigrant from Cuba and Luisa was an American woman. Luisa's parents were Enrique Aguilar and Ida Henderson. Enrique was an Afro Latino Cuban and Ida was an American bi racial woman from Connecticut of African and Native American descent. Both Elvera and her mother Luisa were born in Manhattan, New York.
Why did the interviewer make her repeat herself but I heard her clearly ?
We were shooting multiple takes while keeping the camera rolling. We were making a documentary- it wasn't a talk show interview...
Amazing how this 92 year old just lost her mother, (1884-1996)
Yep! And Louisa Aguiar Sanchez -had been widowed when her husband Marco died in 1907 when she was just 23 and would raise their two daughters Elvera and her older sister Julia all on her own since she herself was orphaned but never remarried until her own death- almost 89 years later! Yep, Elvera had definitely been raised by a survivor!
I don't know why the bulk of my post got those lines.
@0:03..."What would you like to talk about?" Sammy's mother set her straight. "Oh come on...you're doin' this". In other words, This is your interview. You want answers, not me.
Mrs Davis is a whip she seems like she don't take no crap from any one.
She spoke very well. My grandmother never learned English despite being in the US for over 50 years.
She was born and raised in New York city. That's why she speaks English very well.
So sharp!
RIP Mrs. Elvera Sanchez Davis, Sammy Davis Sr and Jr, Enrique Aguiar, Ida Henderson, Luisa Valentina Aguiar, and Sammy's daughter.
He looks just like her. I just watched the movie of when Sammy was a little boy and he freamed he was elected president. He sings and tap dances and was just sooo cute. He looked exactly as he did when he grew up.
He was a great talent. She seemed like a character. Lot of fun. No wonder he was always smiling.
Wow he looked just like his mama and acted like her 😂
